This can be a decent place for a salad or healthy bowl. But today it felt like they were short-staffed at lunch. Two employees were running back and forth filling bowls from the various ingredient stations, when it looked like having a third would have made things a lot more efficient. It gets even slower in this situation when you are crafting bowls. The line was almost back to the entrance. The cashier had her hands full too, occasionally having to step away for a few seconds. I was never asked about a beverage, I guess you have to speak up on your own. That's too bad for them as well, because beverage sales typically have a higher profit margin. Probably half of the people in the dining area did not have beverages. Also during busy times, it can be as tough finding someplace to sit inside as it is finding a space in the parking garage. Still, I did really enjoy my salad, though I think by default they give you more dressing than necessary. Having experienced that once, I'll know to ask for a little less next time. read more

On days like this when I like to challenge myself and do two classes, with the second class of the day always being Soul Cycle, I like to refuel my body by getting a bowl from sweetgreen ! My go-to bowls include: kale caesar, chicken avocado ranch, chicken pesto parm, CYO (create your own) bowl, and sometimes the miso glazed salmon. I love salmon but I'm not sure if I'm crazy, I find that the amount of salmon they give you depends on the day honestly and one day you get more, and others you might only getting half? Anyways, I do enjoy getting their bowl from time to time. It's not every day I am in the mood for salad, but today I did want something lighter to eat. The portion size for the salads is great! I usually eat half for one meal, and save the other half for later. Normally I love sweetgreen but this time I tried adding their mushrooms to the miso salmon bowl and they were so so salty, it ruined the entire dish. I ordered pickup which was also confusing as they had three different spots for pickup orders and there were bowls laying out on all three of them. I don't love salads. They're that type of food that leaves me still hungry after eating one. I can assure you that the Kale Cesar from sweetgreen will fill you up. Their salads are massive! Not to mention the generous cup of chicken and other toppings you get (the Kale Cesar comes with roasted chicken, tomatoes, Parmesan crisps, shaved Parmesan, kale, romaine, and Cesar dressing). It was my first time to a Sweetgreen. I had gone in because I heard they have great gluten-free selections. The boards advertising their dishes seemed to support that. However, when I mentioned my allergy, the gentleman on the line waved to another employee. He didn't speak English apparently, or at least not well. So, the young woman he waved to asked me what allergy I had - Wheat was my answer - and then she promptly turned her back on me and washed her hands for a few minutes. I appreciate the fact that she was trying to wash her hands, but I would've appreciated a little information. I told her I had never been there before and needed help ordering she looked at me quizzically, so I repeated that I didn't know where to start. Well, the blank stare got me. I told her thank you very much and walked out. With allergies, you have to be super careful when ordering. You need servers who can speak clearly and intelligibly. I understand it's Sunday and everyone just wants a day off but I believe in the food service industry customer service should always be first priority. This location could improve significantly if the entire team moved with a little more urgency and service toward the customers in their store. It was incredibly slow in my opinion for a sweet green during lunch time. The dining area was extremely dirty so I pointed out to who could've been a store manager that the tables needed to be wiped down. Good salad, but portion size was smaller than expected. I've had sweet green at other locations and they fill it up all the way but here it was not full. I ordered online for pickup, so it may be different if you are ordering in person. I recommend bringing your own bag when picking up as well because bags are not provided. I have eaten here three or four times since moving to Chestnut Hill last year, and each time I am amazed at how delicious the food is, and how much value you get for your money. Occasionally I have to wait for the order to finish, but the ordering and pick up is generally very good. My only hope is that they have more fresh stuff like soup in the future. I'm shocked to see only 3.5 stars here, it's much better than average, frankly I'm thinking it might be my favorite in the area, which has a lot of pizza and a lot of bakeries. On my way to a picnic with my elderly mother I was going to pick up two large delicious salads. I walk in everyone is wearing a mask a guy preparing the food is not Wearing his mask correctly his nose is over the edge and he's breathing all over the food. I came back this time because I was in the area and I simply asked if the girl could cut the basil (as they used to do) and she said yes... so I waited and she wanted me to continue the order. At the end all the toppings were on top and I had to remind her about the basil... she had the nerve to pull up ONE piece and split it in half. The entire salad tasted bitter because I was getting chunks of just basil cause of how much she put in. These things were annoying but what REALLY made me write this review was the cockroach crawling on the counter where the food was prepared. I told the woman working and she laughed and just said "that's gross" and had me continue my order. I've been to plenty of Sweet Green's and never had this many problems. As well as for the price point they charge for a salad and the neighborhood it's in I had high expectations... they couldn't even meet mediocre expectations... really disappointing. read more

What happened to my favorite Sweetgreen? They used to have fun, nice servers and the servings were what you pay for. Today after not having been here for a couple of months I noticed the servers were kinda rude and seem unhappy. And the couple of times I had my fish taco salad, they were only half the bowl the used to give me. I'm not one for confrontation but I almost said something . Maybe next time I will. I gave them 3 stars. Update: the manager did reach out to me and promised to work on the issue. In fairness and like I've said, they have fed and been good to me for years. I wish we had one of these in the state that I lived in! I stopped at sweetgreen to refuel while wedding dress shopping and was so glad I did. I ordered a warm bowl because it was so darn cold out! The Shroomama came with portobello mushrooms, Kale, beets, sprouts, tofu, rice pilaf and a delicious ginger dressing. All salad bowls come with a slice of bread. The person making my salad was smiling and kind. Although there was a line coming in, it moved quickly because of the expeditious workers. We also had to wait to find a spot to sit but no more than 5 minutes. For $9.95, I was full but didn't feel heavy. The portion is large and if I hadn't been starving, I would have had leftovers! There were plenty of choices on the menu for both carnivores and herbivores. As a sustainability fan, I was impressed that all materials involved in the serving of my salad were compostable. There was a board listing all of the ingredients coming from nearby local farms. It was impressive and transparent. This was appreciated. I'm so happy sweetgreen has expanded to chestnut hill. Unlike the Boston location there is a plethora of free parking spots! Yay!! Ingredients are fresh, staff is friendly, and the seating options are extensive. They even have a cute little bookshelf with health food-related literature. I recommend the monthly salads ... "June salad" or "September salad" feature the locally sourced ingredients that will only be available for a limited time. These also tend to cost less than custom salads. I love sweetgreen! Stopped by tonight to make my own bowl: rice, spinach, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and olive oil--$6.79 total. It was a Friday night around 6pm and the line was about 5-6 people long, moving somewhat slowly. The salad itself was good, but there was too much olive oil--I wasn't asked if I wanted light/medium/heavy like at the last sweetgreen I went to. I asked for bread but the server was a bit too busy to give it to me, so I waited around a little longer. It paid off, because a nice server gave me 4 pieces of bread instead of one!
