There is a serious issue in key largo. Restaurants are not seasoning their food!!! Lol everywhere I go it's so bland and no flavor smh. So this is my upper crust story. I'm vegan so I ordered the pizza with no cheese and mad veggies. I go to pick it up the guy shows me the pizza everything looks legit. I get to the car and investigate further by actually trying a fresh slice! The first bite I knew the pizza was dead. Instinctively I had to save this pizzas life! I just paid 30 bucks for this sucker! I peel outta the lot and fly down to the Walgreens. In the store I have limited options obviously so I grab sea salt, black pepper and hot sauce. Thank god I was able to do that. It was the only way I could eat this pizza lmao. My advice for them is to work on a new sauce with more flavor. We had the white pizza delivered with a homemade key lime pie. Tiramisu was out. They said they had slices but no whole pies. When I offered to buy slices = to a whole pie, they suddenly had a whole pie available. The pizza was dry by the time it got to us. Idk if it was old or was the wait for delivery. Having eaten seafood for a solid week here in the Keys, our group decided they were in the mood for pizza. One review advertised Upper Crust as the best selection of craft beers in Key Largo. Sold. And their beer selections were impressive. Local brews, Left Hand, Dogfish Head... they featured selections chosen by someone who knows craft beer. Our server (nice lady - maybe a co-owner?) gave me a couple samples of some unfamiliar brews... always a classy move. I settled on a local Keys-brewed light ale. They had some R-rated music playing when we initially entered; this did not bother our all-adult group of four one bit. In fact, a few of us enjoyed it. A family with kids came in a short time later, and the station was immediately changed. Very conscientious. We ordered a couple salads. Tasty! They included carrots, chopped up broccoli, and plenty of cheese. We also ordered the extra-large basket of homemade garlic rolls, anticipating taking some home with us afterward. Alas, we did not have any to take home. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We ordered a large Chillax Pizza. Bacon, peppers, a little pineapple, among other ingredients topped this house favorite. Everything is just wrong. The meat lovers pizza is $24 which comes out to around $26 for a large and the undercarriage is horrific and won't hold unless you hold with two hands. The grease on the pizza is evident and is overpowering the toppings. I promise you I prefer a little ceasars pizza over this. I would have given them 2 stars if their price wasn't so ridiculous for a garbage pizza. Also, the toppings basically fall off if you hold it up due to lack of cook time or cook temperature which also affects the undercarriage. This business is a disrespect to the hard working people of America because they look at your money as a joke and provide a trash pizza in return. Never coming here again. I can't believe a place like this has not been run out of town by the locals. The pizza here at best is on the level of frozen pizza from a grocery store. We ordered 3 slices to go at $3.50 per slice plus tax and tip. After 10 minutes the girl comes back with a pizza box that you would get a single slice in normally. They took a 10 or 12" pie and cut 3 slices from it to put in this little box. The pizza was dry like it was reheated. Seriously, my kids get better pizza on the lunch line at school. But the slices were embarrassingly small, like mini pizza. This is what you get from a bowling alley sitting under a heat lamp all day. I brought the box up to the bar and the girl told me "well it's the end of the night almost". So I can't get real pizza that's made like everyone else's? The owner or manager comes out to refund my money and gets offended because I said the pizza was garbage. Horrible experience! This place has odd tasting pizza. Not a good odd either. I was a fan but the pizza has been slowly getting worse in the last few years. It is like a slow downward spiral. The good is the crust is firm but the sauce has become more nasty then an old jar of open tomato sauce in the back of your refrigerator that time has forgotten. Earlier this week my husband and I were stranded in Key Largo during Tropical Storm Eta. With everything closed and being starving we lucked out to find this joint open. Martina was amazing! Great personality, served us right away, gave fabulous recommendations. We ordered the seafood pizza- it was to die for. Because is was so amazing we decided to hit it again for dinner- this time we sat at the bar ordered the special pizza a fancy margarita pizza and again it blew me out of the water it was the best.
