I'm concerned and confused as to why they have positive stars. The plumber that came out to my home was so much of a nightmare that I'm reporting them to the California State contractor board. They were sent out by American Home Shield and reported that he would have to snake my toilet through the roof?? We we shocked and was left with a leaking bathroom. The next company who came out and snaked out toilet in 20 mins. PLEASE DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. read more

Do not hire this company. If they come out to your home, they will not do your drains, they will find every excuse not to. Completely lazy technician, and waste of time. Very unprofessional and useless. I would spend my money on another company. If I could give them zero stars I would. Stay away unless you want to waste your time and money. read more

I called American Home Shield on a Friday because 3 toilets, my shower and tub in my home were all backing up. I paid my service fee and they reffered me Up To Code Plumbing. I called them Saturday morning to make appointment. They couldn't come out until Monday from 10 to 2. Monday the technician came within the scheduled time. When he arrived we explained the problem and he said he needed to access the clean out. I stated I thought it was on the side of the house or on the roof. He said he didn't go on the roof but he would look around the outside of the house for the clean out. He could not find the clean out, so he left. He said he needed to contact AHS because he doesn't go on the roof. I called AHS and UTC Plumbing to no resolve. I finally called Downey plumbing Heating & A-C co. Tuesday after no follow up appointment nor information nor contact other than me calling them both, to no avail. Basically, my family and had no use of our facilities for days. We had to relay on neighbors and the local market get relief. Downey Plumbing Heating & A-C came Wednesday morning. The tech Damian looked on the side of the house found the clean out a totally fixed our plumbing problems. The tech from UTC Plumbing was at my house for less then 10 minutes. He didn't use 1 tool or even get his hands dirty. I got no services and no refund. I guess if he couldn't find the clean out that was where I said it was, maybe he wasn't the plumber for me. read more

My family has used Up to Code Plumbing once before with success for clearing blocked drains in our front yard. Recently when we needed to replace a water heater, we called them and so this review is based off of this second experience, and our interaction with the guy they sent: Eduardo. I'm noticing a trend with some of the negative reviews here and the fact that Eduardo seems to come up a lot in them. I found his demeanor to be condescending and unprofessional, and entirely the reason we ultimately did not decide to go with Up to Code for this job. For full context, this was to replace a water heater in my parent's house. It is located downstairs in a tight room, but we knew had enough space seeing as we had replaced this water heater 15 years ago. Throughout the entire assessment, Eduardo would ignore my mom, who is the decision maker as she is the homeowner, called for UTC to come out, and has dealt with Eduardo before. I found this to be entirely disrespectful. The biggest issue was when Eduardo insisted that we would have to sign a waiver that would release UTC from ANY liability for damage to our house while the heater was removed - this meant if they damaged the walls, or stairs, or carpet, or hardwood, it was entirely on us and would not be on UTC. This opens the door for UTC to not have to be careful, and I asked for further clarification. Even for covering the floors, Eduardo said UTC wouldn't provide any tarps, or other coverings unless we were to buy them ourselves. I found this mind boggling, and when we ultimately vetted other plumbing companies to do the same job, they too found this entirely ridiculous. The other companies agreed that was completely unprofessional, and that they would of course provide coverings, AND clean up any mess they made if that happened. Each time I asked for clarification because this didn't seem correct as it seemed to give them the right to do whatever they wanted without consequence, and Eduardo's attitude was dismissive and rude. After our interaction, I also learned that he complained to my dad that I "had attitude". Eduardo really demonstrated just how unprofessional someone can be when meeting with clients. If not for the prior experience with Eduardo's boss, back when Eduardo was still assisting and not leading on jobs, I would have given this company one star instead of two. I'd really take a deeper look at a company that allows such an individual to represent their work, and whether that is turning off potential customers. EDIT: I also notice that there is an "Eduardo S." who votes on negative Yelp reviews about him as "funny". If this is the same Eduardo, that only shows that he is not taking this seriously and is treating this all as a joke. read more

Up to Code plumbing was the third contractor to evaluate my plumbing situation and they solved the problem immediately! They were prepared with every tool needed and walked me through everything they did. Eduardo Sandoval especially went above and beyond with how kind he was and cleaned everything up better than what is was before. Great company and I can't be any more thankful to have functioning toilets now! read more

Eduardo is the most incompetent and lazy plumber I have ever dealt with. He came to assess my water heater and was very unprofessional and unfriendly. Instead of speaking to me like a human being, he just ignored me and was on the phone most of the time relaying false information to his boss and to American Home Shield, our home warranty agency. He didn't know how to assess the damage to my water heater and made excuses about cosmetic defects that were not essential to the functionality of my water heater. He also mentioned my water heater not having proper venting, which, if he wasn't so lazy and had walked across the street, he would have seen the vent was properly installed through the roof. Instead of diagnosing the problem he quickly gave up on the situation and dismissed any information I gave him to better understand our issue. I knew more about our problem and was better equipped with information and an ability to use common sense and critical thinking than he. I would be embarrassed to employ Eduardo. It looks like his (lack of) work has yielded many negative responses on Yelp. If Eduardo is assigned to your issue, I'd quickly call and have a different plumber come to your home even if it is an urgent matter. Eduardo will only make your situation worse. read more

Josh showed up to our house because our water heater blew up. Almost exactly 48 hours later we had a brand new water heater installed and running with extra modifications to make it safer and more efficient, like routing the pane underneath to the outside of the house instead of inside the garage like the previous plumber did. Great service, great attitude. 10/10 would recommend. Ask for Josh he's great. read more

We had a couple issues they looked at for us. A small fresh water leak and a sewage pump that needed replaced. Eduardo did a great job with the fresh water leak and at a reasonable price. He was a pleasure to work with. However, they gave me the runaround for a couple weeks with with the sewage pump until I finally called someone else who came and did the work the same day. Just getting an invoice from them for the small $175 repair was a pain. read more

Do not trust this plumbing company. I had a leak dripping from the ceiling in my home. My Home Protection company (Old Republic) selected Up To Code Plumbing to address the issue. After a short inspection that cost me $85, the plumber said he couldn't do any thing until I had the ceiling tested for lead and asbestos. Then he would open up the ceiling and see what was causing the leak. I contacted their recommended testing company, and the bill for just the testing was going to be over $900 and take 5 days and this was not covered by my home warrantee plan. After further research, my condominium was built in 1986, years after asbestos and lead paint were outlawed in California. Bottom line - I found another reputable plumber who agreed that testing was t required and fixed my leak in the ceiling the next day for under $400. Up To Code Plumbing got $85 dollars from me up front, and then clearly didn't want to do the job (probably because their contract with Old Republic didn't pay enough). $85 for 15min of work and then bail. Do not trust this company. read more

After a frustrating start with a different plumber who didn't follow up or through when initially sent to my home April 2nd, Up to Code Plumbing resolved my concern today when they sent Eduardo. When I spoke to them two days ago very frustrated, Eduardo took the initiative to say, I will go out to the house and take care of it no problem! Eduardo showed up with a mask on the entire time in my home. He was professional, understanding, neat, efficient, and came prepared with all necessary tools and parts even though he was unaware of what my exact problem was until he arrived. He assessed the problems and repaired all leaky faucets, the shower/tub faucet, and a running toilet in under an hour. If choosing a plumber for your home repairs, I recommend that you explicitly request Eduardo, especially if you want to ensure timely repairs and service that indicates a willingness to get the job done! read more

An amazing company Amanda was so nice and was able to get us in the same day to fix our sink 10/10 would recommend!

Our water heater needed repairing. Amanda, in the office, immediately scheduled our appointment and sent a text verification. On the day of the arrival (within a two hour window; not five hours like most technicians) I received a text message with a link to the plumber's progress and approximate time and distance from our house. Their plumber, Eduardo, showed up on time and diagnosed the problem. He was polite, capable, and explained his work. The price was reasonable and the repair was completed. This company showed itself to be organized and reliable. Both Amanda, who scheduled the appointment and organized the work, and Eduardo, who was the plumber that did the repair, were pleasant and capable. I will continue to use this company for my plumbing needs. read more

Our more than 10 years old gas water heater out of commission. I called my insurance company, within a day technician Eric from Up To Code Plumbing came. Eric is truly a professional and courtesy gentleman. Good job Eric!!!! Helen Ho read more

One of their techs caused a delay in a service call referred to them by American Home Shield by not thinking about the situation and calling for an asbestos and lead check for a 6x6 ceiling. I called and asked Amanda to connect me to Eric. He understood the situation that his first tech did not and rescheduled the call and sent Josh. Josh was a true pro and came in and out fast and got the job done. Thank you. read more

I have a contract with AHS and after three denials, I requested another company to review the matter. I choose UP to Code without knowing much about the company but the reviews spoke for the company. I was sent Josh and he evaluated the situation. I was asked to do an asbestos review but the opening was on an extension to my home, done in the 90's so I was exempted from spending an addition $800.00. We made the opening for Josh and he came today with another plumber and did an amazing job. It first started with this amazing scheduler name Amanda. This lady is special, she has a smile in her voice, and so professional and will make contact with you if any change will happen. AHS should be proud to have this company on their books. Thank you Amanda and Josh. You both deserve the 5 STAR rating. Very pleased with the work you have done and I recommend you highly. read more

Do not deal with this company. I have a problem with the toilet flushing and they've been to my home two times and couldn`t even identify what was the problem. On the first visit, he has reported it works well. On the second visit, they said they need to snake the drain and they need to charge $250 to fix this problem. After this, I call another company and they've fixed the problem right away. Very Very Very Very Very UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY. read more

Hand selected this company because they appeared to be the best of the worst available through my home warranty company American Home Shield. Eduardo's attitude stinks. As others have stated they come in looking for reasons to tell you basic issues are not covered. My toilet is still running. A healthy toilet should not make any noise while at rest after being flushed. He was supposed to replace a flapper in my second bathroom and refused to do so. Left the bucket with a disposable cup, dirty water, and dirty towels on my floor. These contractors that home warranty companies offer are a joke. It is very frustrating. Mentioned something about asbestos after asking when my townhome complex was built. Again, a joke. A waste of time. I waited over the weekend for subpar service to now have to wait for another dispatch for a second opinion. STAY AWAY and be aware. I would give 0 stars if I could. read more

From the very beginning the customer service, and the follow-up and follow through was good. I am very pleased with the water heater service I received from Eduardo. I highly recommend him and Up To Code for all your plumbing needs. read more

Eduardo was fast and efficient about isolating and solving the problem, would recommend, he did a fantastic job.

I was referred to them via my home warranty service. It took two voice mails before they returned my call. My plumbing issue was semi urgent. Flooding under my house. After assessing the situation, the tech decided he needed more equipment and had to return on a different day to repair. Not sure why he couldn't run over to Home Depot but none the less, I had to reschedule. Left two more voice mails before finally getting a call back. On two other occasions, Amanda, apparently the office person, promised to call me back by end of day. Which didn't happen. Twice. Sometimes she answers the phone only saying "hello?" Which makes me think I dialed the wrong number. In the end, it took 4 visits from the tech before my issue was repaired. The price wasn't bad. Had to pay out of pocket (which isn't their fault) If you want prompt responses and good customer service, this is not the company for you. read more

We had to open a home warranty for our leaking water heater, which on day 1 of having our house keys after close of escrow, we noticed was failing. No hot water either. The warranty company sent out Josh from Up to Code to diagnose the situation. He was very professional, quick, and discussed what was needed to get "up to code," per requirements of the home warranty company. The home warranty company won't pay to bring the water heater up to code, which I think is bizarre, but either way, Josh was honest, kind, friendly, and quick. Our pilot was out, there was a ton of rust, and the leak was no bueno. He informed his company right away, what our diagnosis was, and the water heater was replaced the same day! Impressive for an insurance-contracted company, we figured it may take much longer! The company talked with our home warranty company right away and Amanda from Up To Code was quick to call me and arrange for the work to be done, A WHOLE DAY FASTER than it took for the insurance to get back to me! By the time First American Home Warranty called me, we already had a brand new working hot hot water heater! Thanks Josh + Up to Code! read more

We were thrilled with the work that Up To Code did for us last week. Amanda was able to schedule an appointment quickly and Eric was able to diagnose, order, and replace our failing water heater. They are very professional, efficient, and knowledge. I've recommended them to multiple friends and they will be the first company I call when I need a hand with a plumbing issue in future. read more

Terrible. Maybe they do good work when you call them independently, but I wouldn't know - when they're sent out by the home warranty company, they want to keep your service fee while doing as little work as possible. If you have multiple stoppages, they try to game the process to get one service fee for each issue, even though that's not how the insurance works. They also make you wait several days for urgent issues, and cancel appointments at the last minute so you have to disrupt your schedule multiple times. Home warranty customers are clearly at the bottom of their priority list. Edited to add that I've literally had regurgitated sewage sitting in my toilet since Wednesday, and this company just got around to showing up today, Saturday, after canceling my original appointment at the last minute. The guy showed up and decided he didn't want to do any work because there was no additional service fee; it was a recall order because he refused to do the work last time and the insurance company sent him back out to complete it. So he called in and had my work order transferred to another plumbing company *while* he was still at my house. I will now have backed up sewage in my toilet until at least Monday. I have requested that my home warranty company make a note on my account to avoid sending this company out ever again. read more

We use AHS home warranty service for our properties. Our tenant notified us of a clog with the toilet. AHS sent out Up To Code Plumbing. The plumber was absolutely useless. My tenant said he could tell right away that Oscar had zero interest in doing any work. He tried to say we had to pay almost $400 more to snake the drain. I spoke with him and he concocted some story why he would have to charge more. It was total B.S. we have used AHS with multiple rental properties and never experienced this issue with same problem. I have looked at their reviews on yelp and see that this is their way of doing business. They just want the money from AHS for the job but don't want to do any work unless they can scam you for more money. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I'm sure there are many people that do not know they are scamming and pay them. We now have in our file at AHS to NEVER send Up to code plumbing to any of our properties. They said they are going to do an investigation on them. They are complete scammers. read more

If I could give 1 star I would. Josh showed up on an emergency call and knew we had a clogged line with no snake. He told us and theamdlord that he couldn't do the job until Monday because he needed to stay on schedule and had no snake to unclog the line. Told us that we can use the toilet still even though it is all backing up into our bathtub. WHAT PLUMBER SHOWS UP WITH NO SNAKE!!!! That is the most common thing used for clogs. read more

Crooks are the only way to explain it, first I had a faucet drip, that turned into a bad leak, which cause the sensor to burn out in my water heater... And he charge 125 for a faucet that was covered under my home insurance, to top it off he tried to charge 270 for a water heater that wasn't needed... So I called my homeowners insurance, and requested a second opinion from another plumber, which was accent plumbing. They came out and finished the job with no charge. Mind you I waited a whole month for up to code to get this job resolved. I say please don't use them if you haven't had bad experience with them yet you will... read more

Up To Code Plumbing - Plumbing Near Me

Honestly, I have read reviews where people are saying it took 5-6 days to get anything done and that is what I'm experiencing now. I have been waiting for calls back because I had a plumber come and try and fix the water heater and when he left there was absolutely no hot water. And he left without talking to anyone. So we had no explanation, just left without hot water and it is day 5 now. When I call the office I repeatedly keep getting told she will have to get back to me. And that she will get back to me by the end of the day. It's been 2 days since she's said that. I would not recommend this place if you actually need something fixed. read more
