Eric of Up to Code Plumbing is an amazing plumber. Two parts to this review. Part 1. My mom had another plumber tear apart a shower fixer that wasn't too old and purchased another $1700 fixture that required that the newly remodeled shower be torn apart in order to replace the fixture. He never returned to do the job. Eric was recommended to me by a friend. Eric looked at what the other plumber had torn up, he found that the fixture had a lifetime warranty, contacted the mfg and registered the fixture. The mfg shipped out the parts needed at no cost, then Eric returned to install the parts. Shower up and working for less than $300! Big difference when you hire someone who knows what they are doing and they turn out to be an honest individual. Part 2. We had a hot water pipe spring a leak under the house at my mom's place. Eric showed up and set up equipment to dry out the water damage. This actually took a few weeks to accomplish, it was raining continuously, which made it very difficult to dry out. He was there checking with moisture meters regularly monitoring the damage so that mold would not develop. He later returned to change out the pipe under the tight crawl space under the house. I paid $75 to make the problem worse. Up To Code was assigned to me by American Home Shield for a leaky tub valve and a clogged drain. A technician came out to check out the problem. I was told that he needed additional parts to fix the diverter. I was also told that his "solution" for the clogged drain was to "throw bleach down there." After a week of no follow up, I called to see if they were going to fix the problem. The same technician came out and, in the process of attempting to fix the problem, he broke the valve leaving me unable to shower. I was told that it would cost me $600 dollars to repair his error. I will be remodeling the bathroom soon so it made no sense to put that money into something that will be removed soon. I called to request a temporary fix - an acquaintance who is a plumber told me that a simple temporary solution would be to remove the tub spicket and cap it off. The other option I gave them was to refund the $75 I already paid and I would find someone else to repair their damage. I was told that the owner would contact me; that was over 2 weeks ago and I have yet to hear from anyone. Currently I am "showering" with a bucket. It would be in your best interest to hire actual professionals. read more

I recently had my water heater replaced on 11/2/2021, by this company, via my home warranty. I primarily spoke with Amanda and Eric, and both were very nice and professional. They also responded back to me in a timely manner. The job was professionally done, and Eric and his assistant were careful not to damage the walls or make a mess. Worst company I have ever dealt with. The guy came over here, and spent 5 minutes trying to find a parking because his truck was too tall for our building garage. I found a parking, but he kept saying it is too far from my residence despite my offer to help carry his equipment. I found another parking much closer to my place after this idiot left, and called the company within 2-3 minutes after that demanding that he should come back to perform his job, but it was no avail. Eric was amazing! Being a customer via AHS, and having dealt with multiple vendors through AHS, up to code is definitely a vendor i'd happily deal with again!! Initial appointment had to be rescheduled due to an emergency, but only to the next day, so that was fine. The rescheduled timeframe was 12-3pm, but Eric made an effort to make it happen before 8am! After his inspection, he submitted his estimate within a couple of hours, so quick in fact AHS was able to review and approve the SAME day. AND THEN, on top of that, up to code reached out the same afternoon to schedule the water heater replacement foe THE NEXT DAY! Anyone who has been without hot water for a couple days will understand the desperation! Yelp reader: if you are someone who goes off of yelp reviews, don't let all the negative reviews fool you! Just used Up To Code Plumbing. JOSH came out to my house and just by looking at the wall knew what kind of pipe was inside the wall. He opened up the wall and quickly diagnosed the problem and what had to be done. He had great attention to detail and made sure it was done right. He triple checked his work and showed me the problem and keep me in the "loop" of what needed to be done. There were no surprise which was nice. Eduardo is a gem. He's been to our house twice through American Home Shield. I would use them even if I had a plumbing issue that needed to be handled outside of AHS. Also, we placed the service order on Sunday, and that evening Amanda called to schedule for Monday. They then rescheduled to Tuesday, and Eduardo came early in the 3 hour window. The background: We moved into our current house in September, 2021. We had issues with the sink in the master bathroom immediately. AHS sent out a plumber which had a one star rating. Without going into that nightmare, the plumber said we needed to replace the faucet. The plumbing company told us it wasn't covered and we would need to pay them $250 for the faucet. After weeks of calls, AHS cashed us out. We replaced the faucet and that didn't help. We needed something else checked so called in the master sink again as well. Shock, it wasn't the faucet. Eduardo fixed it while he was here. No call to AHS, no need for new parts. Just fixed. Thanks, Eduardo. read more

Their office staff is "on it," and the technician Eduardo is particularly wonderful. Do not trust this plumbing company. I had a leak dripping from the ceiling in my home. My Home Protection company (Old Republic) selected Up To Code Plumbing to address the issue. After a short inspection that cost me $85, the plumber said he couldn't do any thing until I had the ceiling tested for lead and asbestos. Then he would open up the ceiling and see what was causing the leak. I contacted their recommended testing company, and the bill for just the testing was going to be over $900 and take 5 days and this was not covered by my home warrantee plan. After further research, my condominium was built in 1986, years after asbestos and lead paint were outlawed in California. Bottom line - I found another reputable plumber who agreed that testing was t required and fixed my leak in the ceiling the next day for under $400. Up To Code Plumbing got $85 dollars from me up front, and then clearly didn't want to do the job (probably because their contract with Old Republic didn't pay enough). $85 for 15min of work and then bail. Do not trust this company. read more

Josh was my service rep. I had an issue with my water heater. Josh showed up on time. Immediately diagnosed the issue as a thermal coupling problem. Had the supplies in his truck and fixed the issue within 15 minutes - free of charge under the home warranty. I couldn't be more pleased with how the whole interaction. I previously had a different plumbing company come look at the water heater and they told me I needed a new one without even trying to fix the old one. Up to Code Plumbing has been to my home 4 times to fix various plumbing issues. The first time they were great. Was very satisfied. But it's been downhill ever since then. All the plumbers (3) they have sent to my house have been nice and professional. No issues there. On May 1st I put in a request to fix a toilet that was stopping up. They scheduled service for May 8th. The plumber came out and after much effort, made the problem worse. He said he couldn't fix it and said the office would arrange to send somebody else. Now it's May 13th and I still have a non working toilet filled to the brim with sewer sludge. (See picture to see how the plumber left my home). They haven't called with any updates or advised when somebody else will be coming to fix the toilet. They are called daily and say they are still waiting for the plumber to submit his report so they can proceed. Meanwhile, my house smells like sewage and they don't seem to care. Would definitely stay away from this company. After much hassle and many visits, Up To Code Plumbing was able to fix our plumbing. The plumber who finally succeeded was very professional and did a great job. Much of the issue was with the home warranty company that hired them. read more
