We were hoping to find a good and honest plumber after dealing with so many in the area that either gouge you or don't finish the job. We opted to give Lane's a try in an effort to support a smaller business. Unfortunately, we won't be using them any longer and I'd highly suggest others to look elsewhere. We had a clog issue. Lane's was responsive and overall prompt and courteous. They took a look and offered a solution. They worked on it and claimed to have 'fixed' the issue. However, within the SAME NIGHT that our issue was apparently 'fixed,' we realized we still had the overflow/clog issue. We texted and called and talked to Eric, but realized there would be no attempt on his end to resolve the situation without even more money (a significant amount) coming out of our pockets. There was an overall lack of consideration that not only was our issue not fixed, but they suggested other 'solutions' that also might not have remedied our issue which would cost even more for us. We've had some bad plumbers, but we've NEVER had a plumber NOT fix the problem and have the audacity to still CHARGE US, leaving our issue completely unfixed. We were further frustrated in Lane's not even bothering to take some accountability and check out the problem again just out of courtesy! We're opting to look elsewhere to get our issue fixed because we lack confidence that Lane's can even do the job. As a customer who took a shot trying to support a smaller business, it's quite evident we just aren't important unless we throw away more money for a problem that Lane's probably didn't have the means to fix in the first place. Our sewer was completely backed up with roots in our pipes (think all the way along our pipes) and decided to do a sewer liner (sleeve) to discourage it from happening again (especially because we like our trees). We had three excellent plumbers come out to give us estimates. Eric (Lane) was the second plumber to come out. He evaluated the project, gave a rough estimate with two caveats: that he needed to do some calculations to give a more precise estimate, and that he would need to see the state of the pipes after the roots were cleared before he could say for sure that the sleeve would work (which was in line with what the other plumbers were saying). After he left, he quickly provided the estimate. We had the third plumber come out, who had an idea that I called Eric about and Eric was willing to proceed with the request, and was super accommodating when I asked about permits (which I had forgotten to address before). Because Eric was so down to earth and easy going (and it didn't hurt that he was the lowest estimate), we decided to select Lane's to do the work. We did make the decision a little hastily (by my usual standards) as we have 7 people living in our house that did not have a working sewer, but it was the afternoon by the time we did make the decision. I called Eric to let him know, and he said he would come out in about 2 hours to hydrojet the line so we could at least have a working sewer. He came when he said he would about 4 o'clock, set up shop, and went to town clearing the line. It was about 6 before he was finished. He even pulled one of our toilets that was always running slowly to make sure it was not clogged (and it wasn't...it's just the toilet, but he didn't know that till after he pulled it and verified the sewer there was good). From there, we had a working sewer and Eric verified that the sleeve would work, but pointed out that the entry point should be under some of our pavers where the line was slightly offset. We agreed at the time, but changed our minds later, when we called him to say we'd thought about it and would really like to dig where the grass was and not mess up the pavers, but we wanted to see what he thought. He was appropriately insistent that the best thing to do plumbing-wise was to fix the offset while doing the sleeve, and pointed out the risks associated with not doing so. After discussing the risks with him, he maintained that under the pavers was the correct and best way to go, but that if we decided to accept the risk, that he would access the line where the grass was. The risk seemed acceptable to us (vs. the benefit of not having to get the pavers back to their original flatness), so we decided to go where the grass was. Since we were a little tight on money, I also took the opportunity to ask how much he would take off if I dug the hole myself, and the amount he quoted was worth it to me. It gave my kids an opportunity to work with me as employees (since I gave them an hourly amount to help out). It was quite fun to see their enthusiasm. Eric was very clear about what he needed the hole to be like and gave us a general indication over the phone of where the line should be (i.e. straight in the direction the cleanout pipe was pointed). We started on the hole one weekend without hitting the line. The following weekend we continued and got down to 6 feet without hitting it. I called Eric, who said we had definitely missed it, but probably just missed it one way or the other by a little bit, and that he would send someone on Monday to verify the location of the line. After that call, I decided to go a little bit sideways, and found the line about 8-12 inches from the edge of my original hole. Apparently my line had an ever so slight curve to it...just enough to put it not under where I started. It was obviously my fault for not completely verifying where the line was, and since I was close, I was not too troubled by it. I let Eric know he didn't need to send someone. I finished digging the hole, sent him a picture, and he said it was good. From there, his team came the following Wednesday, got the liner in, and closed up the hole. Eric continued to keep me informed about the permit inspection, and came today for the inspection (which passed) and to reinstate one of the connections to the sewer that I desired to maintain for the future. It was amazingly wonderful that Eric handled all the permitting, and as far as I can tell, all the plumbing work seems to have been done properly with skill and care. Overall, Eric went the extra mile, was very professional and accommodating, showed great integrity in sticking to his guns by fully recommending against digging where the dirt was in order to ensure the best plumbing outcome, kept us informed throughout the whole process, and was a true pleasure for this highly particular client (i.e. me) to work with. I've hopefully found my lifelong plumber. read more

I went with Lane's initially because there was not one single bad review. How many businesses can boast that? I got a quote to replace a pop up assembly on 2 bathroom sinks. My husband had started the process and then couldn't finish it because the old pop up drains were so stuck. We were kind of frustrated that we were going to have to pay someone to finish what we started. They sent their guy the next morning. He was there at 9 AM sharp on a Saturday. Just wanted to give Eric a shout out, as I want him to continue to grow his business! I've used Eric a few times in the past couple of years and he's always been very responsive and accommodating. Recently there's been a very strange and loud rhythmic thumping that was coming from one of our guest bathrooms at random hours throughout the day and night. It went on for a couple of days , we originally thought it was the house's heating system until we turned it off and the noise was still around. Then we thought it was the ceiling exhaust fan in the bathroom but when I unplugged it the sound was still there. We finally decided that it must be the plumbing, as it turns out I was overdue for a water heater flush anyway. When we turned off the water heater , the sound stopped - however that meant we didn't have hot water. So I texted Eric about the issue and that we also needed a system flush anyway. When he came out and did the flush, literally the noise didn't come back. He even followed up the next day to see if the noise came back. That's good business practice! So moral of the story? Get your water heater (we have a "tankless" one too) flushed annually! And call Eric when you do! By the way, he brings his own shoe covers which is very nice and considerate. Cheers! read more
