My wife I and haven't been to this place since it first opened. Our experience on the first time wasn't great; we waited a long time to be seated, and when the food came, the waiter at the time spilled one of the dishes all over me... lol now, but not at the time it happened since I was covered in curry sauce. Today we wanted to give it a try once again, so we went here for lunch. The place wasn't busy so it was in no time getting seated. We decide to make it easy and order off the lunch menu (see lunch menu pic) posted on the table. All dishes were $9.50 and $1 more if we added protein. Music (jazz) was playing making a good atmosphere as we waited for dishes to come out. I ordered 2 dishes and choose one with salad and the other with soup. Let me start with the soup - it had some ground chicken, mushroom, and cabbage, it was a little bland. The salads had too much peanut dressing, which left a paste in our mouths as my wife described it. Green chicken curry served with rice and a veggie egg roll - the broth was a little thin (watery) but it didn't lack the flavor. Drunken noodle was good, It had the right charred chicken and noodles which makes the dish. My wife had the traditional chicken pad thai- the rice noodles were a little different from other Thai places we've eaten at, nevertheless, she was content with the dish. Overall I gave it 3.5. I always stop here when I'm in town. My goto is the red curry with chicken. Everything is fresh and delicious. You can pick if you want it spicy or not, if you choose spicy they give you a 1-5 rating to pick from. I usually get a 3 on the spice and it feels like just the right amount. The service is friendly and attentive too. I've had the calamari, spring rolls, and I think chicken screwers over the years. Everything I've had has been really good. My coworkers ordered some different entrees and they all said it was delicious too. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Every time we come here it seems like the service is rushed. We are given the menu and within a minute or so a server comes back and asks what we want. I used to order here all the time. The food here used to be amazing but within the last year something has changed drastically. The time before the last time I ordered, my shrimp arrived to me almost raw. It was barely cooked and I could not eat my food and to top it off they gave me the wrong food. Huge safety concern there but I gave them another chance. The most recent and also the last time I ordered from here, I took a bite of my drunken noodles and something stabbed the inside of my mouth. I spit my food out to find one of those metal wires as you would see from to brushes that are used to clean barbecues. This used to be my go-to place for Thai food. However, recently I have had so many issues with the quality of my food, the food lacking spice, and for some reason the restaurant always running out of supplies for the food? I also recently got sick from here from some shrimp that was undercooked. I ate it because I have never gotten sick from eating here before and I would question it except that my mother who at the same thing as I did from here also fell ill. I also feel that the entrees are a little overpriced for the serving that you receive. I'm sad to see the issues here lately and I'm not sure what is going on but hope they fix it soon. read more

Went to check them out even though the reviews said that the service wasn't that great but at the same time all the reviews said the food was great. So we came in knowing that the service was gonna be slow. The place was packed and the staff was obviously overwhelmed. Took about an hour to get seated and getting our food. It was definitely worth it. The blue crab fried rice, the pad thai, and Thom yum soup was one of the best we've had. Had a chance to talk to the staff when it died down a bit. Turned out to be a great group of guys. My suggestion, when it's busy, order out or get delivery. Good food is always worth the trouble. We have found our go to spot! I am writing this while walking to my car after my delicious meal here! I ordered pad thai with tofu at spice level #2 and it was so flavorful and huge portions! My husband ordered pad see ew with beef and he rarely ever says anything is good or bad, but he actually liked his dish! He was also impressed with the portions as well. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food we got. Most Thai places we like are at a higher price range and much further from our home, so this place is now my new favorite Thai place and it's close to home. Service is great! I just moved here from California and found this place because I actually live really close. I have always had amazing experiences and have been here about 6 times in the last 2 months bringing friends and family! Unfortunately I had an experience that left a really bad taste in my mouth and don't think I will be coming back. I brought my sister that is visiting from California for her birthday and everything was fine, we order family style ordering 3-4 dishes and just sharing all of them. I always get 0 level spice on noodles and rice because my kids love to eat the food here but don't do well on spice. I get a level 1 spice on curry because that is my preference. When we received our food everything looked really good and we started digging in. When I tried the noodles and my mouth started burning and I realized they were really spicy. I asked my sister and my son and they both agreed it was really spicy. I waved over the waiter and asked if the noodles were suppose to be spicy as I ordered 0 spice. He told me that the noodles were level 4 spice! I didn't want to make a big deal and I apologized and let him know I had ordered a level 0 spice and there was probably just a miscommunication problem. I have worked in food and beverage my whole life and don't like to make big deals when stuff goes wrong. I politely asked him if there was any way we could get the dish fixed. He took the dish to the back then came back out with the same dish and said the owner told him if we wanted the dish with 0 spice we would have to order another dish and pay for both!!! I would understand if we had eaten the whole dish then tried to get the plate replaced but we didn't even eat a quarter of it. This was ridiculous and have never been to a food establishment where they wouldn't just make it right for the guest. I can't believe the owner would not want to make it right for a guest when we did not order incorrectly. It was upsetting as I had been talking this place up to my sister while we were at the table saying how great it is. I hope they can make a change and make something so small right instead of losing a loyal customer over an incorrect order. I always spend $60-$100 here because I like the food and the general ambiance but will not return for the foreseeable future. The entree was FABULOUS!! The only reason I'm not giving a 5-star rating is that the server placed the salad and egg roll in the same partitioned container as the entree. The rice was packaged separately. This configuration caused the egg roll and salad to be EXTREMELY soggy and wilted. I was needing a restaurant for a work lunch near Cypress and had a craving for Thai food. I read the reviews and decided to give Up Thai a try, and I am very glad that I did. This is a small restaurant inside, in a strip center, so people would miss it unless they were looking for it. Parking is a little limited but the food is amazing and the staff was on top of their game. I eat a lot of Thai Food, and the little things mean a lot to me. I ordered family style so I could try a number of their dishes and all of them were super fresh. The Basil Chicken, Pad Kra Pow, which is how I judge a Thai restaurant, was made with ground meat which is so much more flavorful than chicken breast. It had the perfect amount of vegetables to compliment it. I also ordered the Pad Thai which was on point also with fresh veges. I ordered Satay, Royal Dumplings and Panko Shrimp. All Appetizers were great. The lunch specials ordered by my guests came with Soup or Salad and an Egg roll. Portions were great for lunch specials and the family style portions were hearty as well. The waitress even made me a special batch of spicy fish sauce since they do not have it on the tables, so that little add on was amazing. I hope to have an excuse to be in the area again soon as I live North of Houston. I will make it my local stop. read more

This part of the Cypress area has a growing number of independently owned and culturally diverse fare, which I'm so thankful for. Found this gem on Yelp and ordered all sorts of delivery (through my Yelp app). tofu Drunken Noodles are my go-to, and while the flavor was there, but the portion and presentation was off compared to their other Yelp photos (but I get it -- we are in different times). My mom fully enjoyed her massamam curry, and the fried spring rolls and crab rangoons. The garlic brussels sprouts are really good -- and are a nice way to pack in some veggies when you're eating a bowl of rice pasta. read more

I've driven past this place a thousand times and finally decided to stop on a whim as I was headed somewhere else at noon on a Tuesday. First thing to note is parking availability. Strip centers can be tight under the best of circumstances, but this place shares a lot with another restaurant, a large dental office, and a couple of other businesses. I had to wait for someone to leave before I could park. I understand this isn't necessarily the restaurant's fault, but know that parking can be hard at busy times. At 12:15, the place was almost full, which doesn't take much in a small space. Just nine tables inside, though they're almost all 4-tops composed of 2-tops pushed together. Lots of hard surfaces, so it was a little noisy. It didn't bother me. Service was prompt and extremely friendly. The two men working the floor were warm and polite, as I've noted in many of my favorite Thai spots. I ordered the lunch special cashew chicken with chicken soup. The entree came with a ball of steamed rice and a tiny crispy spring roll. The entree was tasty, but....no cashews. The sauce was on the runny side and though I'd ordered Level 3 spicy, it felt like a 1 or 0. Again, it was tasty, but not the kind of flavor that gave my palate much to remember. For the whole meal (with iced tea) my tab was about $12.50, which seems fair for what I got. I'll be back, but Up Thai isn't going to replace my go-to Thai for the Cypress area. read more

This is a new Thai place in Cypress that I was super excited to try with my family while in town! We're definitely a foodie family (hence the million dishes we ordered) but we like to sample a bit of everything when we first try a restaurant. We ordered Veggie Fried Spring Rolls, Tofu Satay, Red AND Green Curry, Basil Fried Rice, Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) and Coconut Icecream and everything was presented so beautifully (disclaimer: I forgot to take a picture of the Pad Kee Mao, got a little distracted with eating oops). You know you ordered too much when you end up taking more than half of each dish to go BUT who doesn't love leftovers? The service was prompt and everyone was very friendly! The owner or perhaps manager (it was ambiguous as she didn't introduce her title) even came out to ask us how we enjoyed everything and told us that they would be updating the menu soon with a special section for vegetarians and more dishes! Just a wild guess but I think she MIGHT have noticed the abundance of tofu we ordered haha. She even recognized that we were Indian and informed us that they may be adding paneer (delicious, firm, and versatile Indian cheese) to the menu as a protein choice for those who don't like tofu, HOW PROGRESSIVE! The only reason this place was given 4 stars instead of 5 is because they lacked the level of spicy that makes your whole body sweat, your tongue hang out, and makes you want to shove a whole fountain of water down your mouth! I LOVE SPICY and we ordered the spiciest level there was and were disappointed that our food was more like borderline mild rather than the fiery pits of hell spicy that we were expecting. However, there was a little jar of chili sauce on the table that we used generously to help amp up the curries and that helped a little! All in all, this place is definitely worth trying!
