My daughter and I were practically the only people dining in the restaurant, yet after placing our order, we waited over 30 minutes while it became clear that to-go orders were being prioritized over dine-in customers. Considering how long I've supported this restaurant, I was disappointed that the only response I received from our server -- with the owner sitting nearby -- was "sorry." Loyal customers should feel valued, and unfortunately, that was not my experience today. Sadly, I will not be returning because I no longer feel appreciated as a customer. read more

Always heard good things about this place but never had a chance to go. Finally took my family there and we all loved it. My favorite is their mango sticky rice because their presentation and the taste was just beautiful compared to other places I've been. Service was great but they were low staffed when I went and it got busy. Hence, we experienced a long wait time for the food to come out but that was understandable. Had to update my review to say that the food is consistently good here, but the Tom Kha Gai here is some of the best soup I've ever had; very luxurious texture and complex flavor. Service was also excellent today. It was spotty the last time I came because we caught the waitresses during a shift change. But this time, our waitress was extremely attentive and even ran out to the parking lot to return something my friend accidentally left behind. Really glad to have such good Thai food in the area. Food was really great today. The Thursday lunch comes with a cup of Tom Kha Gai coconut soup and I think it's the best I've tasted in Houston. Maybe I'll take a large size home which I've done before. Mr. Picky seriously liked his fried Orange Shrimp (fried shrimp version). And for the first time I tried the Pad Kee Mao with extra egg and noodle, and that was also enjoyable. Just really, really, really good. Some dishes are very sweet and sticky, almost like a dessert. Some of the best hot and sour soup i've had, if not the best. Taste is fresh, you can actually taste each element and not just the soup base. Lunch time you get salad and spring roll complimentary. The thai and green tea are very sweet like a desert. Glad to support this family run establishment any time I go out with sweet sour and orange chicken in mind. Looking forward to trying other dishes. Very clean place as well. My wife, daughter, granddaughter and I went for lunch today Saturday (day before Mother's Day) and had a great experience. Our first time at this restaurant. Arriving at about 12:45 pm the place was not too busy, as it was throughout our visit. The ambience was fine, if a little plain but it was quiet at the end of a small strip shopping center. Parking was good. Our server was very pleasant as was the kitchen staff who brought out our food. We all had the lunch special with different main dishes, with the special extras being a small soup, salad and a spring roll - all fresh and tasty. My daughter's suggestions for entrees all turned out to be quite delicious. My wife had the Massaman Curry Pork, Daughter had the Pad See Ew, granddaughter had the Vermicelli Pork, and I had the Pad Kee Mao Pork. For dessert we ordered the Fresh Mango with Sweet Rice and Mango Ice Cream, and to drink we shared Thai Tea with Ice and water. Everything was delicious and the portion sizes were good. I have not been here in a while. I am so glad we came tonight...literally the best Thai food I have ever had. If you come out this direction, stop by! You wont be disappointed. My guess is that you will have a new favorite. Local businesses, especially restaurants, are hurting. Already, Del Pueblo Mexican Restaurant closed this week. They have been a staple in our neighborhood for 28 years. My heart ached tonight as Todd and I listened to the owner of Mango Tree tell her story with tears in her eyes. I'm always up for trying a new place - especially when it's a small biz. After searching through Yelp for something to eat that wasn't "junk food," we settled on Mango Tree. If you're not familiar with the area, it's off Grant Rd (in between Perry & Jones in the Mandolin area) in the corner spot of a small shopping plaza. When we arrived around 6/6:30 - the place was nearly empty. I was a bit reluctant because of, but stayed nonetheless. The waiter was kind and promptly served us our drinks. After the kids ordered the chicken fried rice, we placed our order - Curry Chicken and Shrimp Mor Din. The curry... delicious! Full of flavor, cooked well, and paired nicely with the rice that was well cooked also. The shrimp mor din on the other hand - not my cup of tea (the noodles that is). The flavor in the shrimp and cabbage was perfect, but the noodles... they were gooey and overly seasoned. Overall - the food was good and was served promptly and hot! My only real complaint would be the kids' portions - they were very small. My usually picky eater who doesn't eat a lot - left very hungry. Oh and the steamed dumplings weren't bad. Be forewarned - gratuity is automatically added for parties of 5 or more - I'm not a fan of automatic gratuity - it's almost a given that the service will lack as a result. We visited for lunch. For $14.50, I ordered the Beef Pad Thai which comes with the daily soup and a salad with peanut dressing and vegetable roll. The salad was great, really loved the flavorful dressing. The soup changes daily and the one we had, not sure the name, but it had a great flavor. The main entree was great. I did level 2 spicy which was perfect, had flavor but didn't burn my mouth. I'd recommend this place for anyone looking for great Thai food. read more

3.5 stars I've been going here for a few years and the food is usually consistently good. The best Thai restaurant within my immediate area. They've had a change of ownership during this time but food is still really good. At times better than others. I usually go for lunch. You do get a cup of soup, small salad and mini egg roll with your lunch entree. The peanut dressing on the salad pairs really well with the granny Smith apple sticks you get with the salad. My favorite is the tom yum soup but I do enjoy the kha gai as well. Seems that post covid not many people go in for lunch as it's usually quite bare but their takeout seems busy. Lots of seating and ample parking as well. Hosts are nice and usually very quick with service. Food does not take very long to be brought out but you do have enough time to enjoy your soup and appetizer. This trip I ordered the Pad Kee Mao, #3 spice level. I got the combo with shrimp, chicken a and beef. I think that cost about $16. It was very sweet and not at all spicy or even hinted at a bit of spiciness. My hubby also said the same about his panang curry combo. Not sure if chef forgot or what really happened. It was still tasty but just lacked the spiciness I was looking forward to and also to balance the sweetness of the sauce used. The Thai iced tea has gotten a bit pricey at $5.50 per glass. I order it because it's a treat for me. I love the creaminess of it. The panang curry was smooth and silky with the coconut milk really coming thru. Very fragrant. Rice was cooked to perfection and not at all chewy or hard. Veggies in both entrees were fresh and crunchy. I will always go back for lunch as long as their standard doesn't drop. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while so I ordered takeout from the counter. The cashier asked if I liked spicy and I said I do, but I don't like a lot hot/spicy. She said they would do a little spice. Apparently they did zero spice because both of my entrees were bland. I had the chicken Pad Thai and Crab Fried Rice. I am Brazilian, and many Americans when living in Brazil say we treat food as a sentiment! There are certain food that for me is the same as my mom's lap affection, others make me cry because it reminds me of my grandma who passed away, I've cried in the middle of a fancy restaurant because the food reminded me of my grandma smell! All that to say that mango tree food for me is a comfort, it's my favorite restaurant. My husband lost his job and we've been struggling with money for a while, someone in the church blessed us with a gift card and I found out there was a bit left on it, so I went to mango tree to feel a little better and order a lunch dish to go, before paying I told her I didn't have money for tip because we were struggling and that was a gift from someone, I asked for prayers for that but then my gift card didn't work and the owner there know me for years, I asked her to try a few times and it didn't work, then I told her I'd pay with another account of mine and she let me have it for free! I almost cried, not only they serve me comfort and kindness but they are also generous beyond understanding and I wasn't expecting for that. Food is FRESH, made with love! I have witnessed them eating the same food they serve to clients several times, that's a great sign, when people in a restaurant eat what they serve you know they trust what they are making for people, I want to honor them for so many years making me feel loved with their food but more than that, for praying for my family household and be generous with those who struggle!
