Pearl River is a Chinese restaurant on Jones Road just behind Connie's Frozen Custard. It is in a strip center with dedicated parking spaces in front. I've dined here twice recently. They have combo meals priced as lunch and dinner with the dinner selections being a couple of dollars more but come with larger servings. The combos come with either your choice of soup, egg roll and steamed or fried rice. Ice tea was included in the price too. My first visit was for the dinner combo of shrimp with vegetables with egg drop soup, fried rice and an egg roll for $11.50. The egg drop soup was rich and flavorful and the egg roll and rice were very good too. There were plenty of shrimp on the plate with the veggies in a clear sauce that taste wise was average to me. The next time I went with Moo Goo Gai Pan (dinner size) for $11. I kept the egg drop soup and egg roll but this time went with steamed rice. This meal was better tasting and next time I will have to try a beef dish. On both occasions the table service was fast and friendly. I like this restaurant. The food was good tasting and the prices low. It's a great value for a meal. read more

They had me waiting to order for 15 minutes. This is the most bland and disgusting food i ever had. I was encouraged to get kung poa chicken and this is sooooooooo nasty. Never knew it had un roasted raw peanuts! They said its spicy and it doesn't even have salt in it much less peppers. I ordered 25 dollars worth to last me for a couple days and now im out of 25 dollars. I also got singpore noodles with extra fresh garlic THEY DID NOT PUT IT IN. This is the worst chinese food meal i ever had in my life. The way they cut the carrots is also pissing me off! Never go to this nasty place! read more

I haven't eaten at Pearl River for over 20 years, but last week my mom called and told me she read it had recently been purchased and she wanted to try it, so today I drove out that way and met my mom for dinner. Totally blown away by what they've done. Clearly newly remodeled, clean, comfortable, and inviting while still maintaining that old school charm. The menu was what I expected, and the food was great! The fried rice has plenty of proteins, and the egg fu young was almost like tempura. Service was also exceptional - they were very concerned about the quality of food and wanted to make sure we were happy with everything. The new general tso chicken is good but not better than the original sauce, it's not as sweet as I would like but still good. The egg roll and cheese puff smacked very good and the rice was good. For the other plates it was really good too but there is a difference in the favor overall which is expected with new cooks. read more

We have been looking for good Chinese food for a while. After seeing a few mentions on Nextdoor we decided to give it a try. So glad we did. We ordered off the lunch menu. I had the General Tso's chicken , my wife had sweet and sour chicken. Egg rolls were delicious. My General chicken was wonderfully crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. The sweet and sour chicken was light and not over breaded. Don't judge the restaurant by the outside as it is a bit dated. The interior is nice and clean. Service was also great and timely. The new owner, Erick, came by and checked on us. He spoke of not using MSG and his chef using traditional high heat wok style cooking. We can't wait to try different dishes. This place is HORRIBLE. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY THERE. I ordered through the website and never got confirmation but my account was charged. I called and asked for confirmation, and proceeded to be told I placed my order at the wrong place (this is the only place in the area with this name) and was then informed to come inside and verify payment. Upon doing so I was told I that it wasn't the same place and that since it was pending I. needed to call my bank and reverse the transaction because they never got the order. Why not just make my order after confirming payment? HORRIBLE CUSTOMER service I then called my bank to verify with them on the phone and the man I was speaking to ran away on a "delivery" ... Placed a take out order for triple delight and chicken with broccoli both with fried rice. Above average chinese/asian Fare. On par with the previous owners for this dish. We have been eating at this restaurant for over 20 years under the previous owners. New owners as of October 2025. Some upgrades to the interior although I was just there for a few minutes for the pickup. Online menu needs to be upgraded and prices have increased substantially. $30 for the above with one order of two egg rolls. Large portions though. Usually enough for two meals. read more

I have been eating here since I've moved to cypress. It was the first place we ate at when we moved to this area and is was shockingly affordable and delicious! The flavors of the pan fried dumplings are immaculate! Chicken friend Rice is my homey meal and their fried rice is so delicious! There so sweet and there food is just amazing. We have been eating here for many years. We started being a "DELIVERY" type family after Covid changed our lifestyle. One thing that didn't change was the food! They have always provided good options from a combination plate to a full order. All have been delicious, nicely cooked, and there has been plenty of food to eat. Even if you ask for "Asap" delivery, it gets here on time, hot, and just like we ordered. The price has gone up somewhat through the years, but is still very reasonable for the variety and amount of food. The Triple Delight with fried rice and cheese puffs is my favorite. Ordered lunch from Pearl River. I ordered a beef dish, which was good, but it only had like 7 pieces of beef and the rest was peppers and onions. If I wanted peppers and onions, I would have ordered that. The sweet and sour soup was NOT good. Won't order that again. The eggs rolls were delicious. That's the only reason I eat here. Though I was not happy with my order, I will still continue to support this mom and pop restaurant. Please do better Pearl River. read more

Hmmmm what to say about this location. I think the food is good, I wouldn't say "VERY" good but good nonetheless. I wanted to give 3 and a half but of course don't have that option. I get the sesame seed chicken which is good but slightly over cooked Everytime. I also get the combo lo mein but its not the most flavorful and you have to add the soy sauce and sweet and sour sauce that they provide. I am looking for some good Chinese food in my area and I am not having much luck. This was not a great meal. I ordered Hunan beef. The positive was that it was full of fresh vegetables. I doctored the sauce to make it spicy and more tasty. The meat had no flavor at all. Very bland. It was obvious they cooked the meat and vegetables separately and then stuck them in the sauce. I decided to not eat too much of it thinking that maybe after it sat in the sauce a couple of days, it might flavor the meat and vegetables. The rice was typical generic fried rice where you can add some sauces and be able to eat it. Egg drop soup ok. Egg roll/spring roll was crispy but not much inside of it. My son had a spicy beef which was not spicy and had the same issue with the flavorless meat. So it was at least cheap but I do not think we will go back. read more

The first time I ordered general tso chicken There was so much veggie that I could barely see the chicken in a dish that is usually fried chicken chunks with sauce only . Second time I ordered Mongolian Beef.. again too much veggie.. I think for the price it was good. $40 for sweet sour chicken, broccoli beef, sesame chicken, house special fried rice, and 8crab puffs which were free. Fed my family of four and had leftovers. The beef was a bit chewy so that was my least favorite but everything else was decent. Not too greasy. So, overall not too bad, but most Chinese is hard to get even decent unless you want to spend more money at a higher end spot, so when being cheap it's good. read more

This place has the best Shrimp Toast dish I have ever had. I'm addicted to them like a fat kid loves cake. As for cheapness for the wallet, I always order lunch time the lunch specials. They have a stamp system just like all the Tea House places, so I get one free meal by the end of the week. They have all the dishes, I don't see how they didn't have Mongolian beef because that is my regular lunch order. Aside from my other favorites. Two words: Food poisoning Never again! I am miserable! I got the fried shrimp plate with egg rolls and rice! It tasted fine which is what sucks! But I won't be eating here again! That's awesome, except no one seems to know where it is and it's hard to find places that will deliver. After calling around I finally found out that Pearl River will come out here.
