First time at Up In Smoke. A throwback to a simpler time. I had the #1 which was recommended by an old timer ahead of me. A brisket sandwich, chips and a drink. The beef was excellent, not too dry and not moist, just right. Primarily a to-go place, hence only 5 tables. The pit was still lit and smoking. The place is near downtown Robstown but the freeways now bypass it, so it feels like it's a little detour to get there if you're traveling in the area. read more

Stopped by for the second time on the way to Port Mansfield. I had the sliced brisket sandwich again and it was excellent. My son had the 2 meat combo plate of ribs and brisket and said it was also excellent. Meat has nice seasoning and smoke flavor and very tender. He said the sides were good also. read more

On our way to San Antonio Airport to head back to Cleveland, Ohio we can upon a Robstown, TX BBQ called "Up in Smoke B-B-Q." We ordered a BRISKET SANDWICH and a BRISKET & RIB meal. We had POLITE SERVICE and EXCELLENT FOOD! We can not say enough about the meal. The Rib was the best Rib we ever had... perfect smoke, meaty, fell off the bone, melt in your mouth. The Beef Brisket sandwich melted in our mouth also. While sitting at the picnic table under shelter it was obvious this bbq was loved by the locals. A couple of people were ordering their Easter meals for the future, full briskets. I so wish we had this establishment in Cleveland, Ohio. If I could give it more then 5 stars I would! The brisket & ribs at this place was amazing!!! Very juicy and flavorful. My mom ordered a 3 meat plate and wasn't a fan of the sausage. The sides could use a revamp as well. We got rice and beans as our sides. We were going to try the turkey leg, but they were sold out by the time we made it, so I'm sure that must be another fan favorite. This place is really good. Three of us had the Brisket sandwich, which was awesome. My husband had the brisket plate with ribs. The brisket was again, really awesome. The ribs were also awesome... we are talking about fall off the bone succulent,, but the sides were just okay. One of us had the pulled pork po-boy, and he said it was also 5*. The negatives were that this place is not really geared to be a restaurant, but a take out place. They have two picnic tables, which are in an enclosed space with a fan, but no air conditioning, so it wasn't ideal in 100 degree heat. read more
