Best chicken in south texas hands down nobody can compete !!!! The people are very friendly!!!

Salty. We drove in from Corpus as wifie was getting some facebook suggestions that Barerra's was on some bucket list. Salty. So it's easy to get to as Robstown isn't exactly a huge metro. Salty. Def hole in the wall vibe, we were able to park right out front and order and wait in the picknik table area. Salty. After a few minutes, they called out our name and we picked up our order of chicken, fries and roll. Salty. The chicken was well-cooked...seemingly to just the right about and the pieces were generous in size. Salty. Fries were also good and the rolls were store-bought quality. Salty. Chicken was moist (if not a bit greasy) and the coating/crust was just the right amount of crisp. Salty. They only sell bottled drinks (coke or diet coke on this particular day) and we had to ask for napkins...thankfully wifie had some ketchup packets in her purse. Salty. The serve sizes were worth the prices. Salty. Overall...it was salty. Too much. Blood pressure threatening too much. We've tried it and enjoyed it for the most part. But that was enough for us. We both have to watch our blood pressure. Salty. read more

Fried chicken was perfectly cooked crispy on the outside moist in the inside. Server was nice. read more

Delicious food at a phenomenal price! I will be headed back the next time I am in Robstown.

Cannot say enough good things about this place. Was introduced great livers and gizzards when I worked for RISD 25 years ago. Still the best. Quick, friendly service is an added Plus to the great grind chicken, livers and gizzards. Highly Recommend.. read more

Cluckin great! Perfectly cooked moist fried yard bird. Don't drive thru this little spot without pulling over. Nothing other than a couple of benches to sit on so plan on eating to go. Support hardworking folks asking a fair price for some of the best fried chicken you may ever eat. 2 legs and 2 thighs for $5.98...Deal! Barrera's Fried Chicken - Thighs - Chicken Wings Near Me - Robstown, Texas

100 percent real good I will go again any time of the day best chicken in town tell your friends that is the best chicken in town

The chicken when fresh is really good especially with the seasoning they use. The gizzards with gravy on top is the reason I still eat here when I'm in town visiting family. Been eating Barrera's for over 40 years and it's a staple in Robstown. Great service as usual! read more

Somehow stumbled upon a TikTok about this place just in time for our trip from Houston to the RGV. We stopped by to grab some chicken for lunch and all I can say is WOW!!! So delicious! My husband and I agree it's the best fried chicken we've ever had. Friendly staff, too! Not much for ambience but we sat in the car and enjoyed our meal regardless. No restrooms so we had to use the HEB across the street. I would definitely come back and tbh I wish we'd stopped by again on our way back home. #regrets read more

Barrera's Fried Chicken - Chicken Wings Near Me - Robstown, Texas

Barrera's is our go to spot every time we're passing through on our way home to Edinburg. First off, they don't skimp on their chicken or servings. Nowadays when fried chicken places are cutting a chicken breast in half to make it two pieces, Barrera's remains true to their service by serving a full large chicken breast in all their plates!! Speaking of service they not only go out of their way to ensure customers are happy, but they will take the extra step to add a few pieces of chicken if the portions look small to them. Recently we arrived at this humble little hole in the wall as they were closing and not only did they accommodate our order but because they could not fulfill the entire order at the end of day, they still stepped up to add some extras!! Finally, the crispy chicken with their special seasoning is the best!! Tastes like no other and its uniqueness is a one & only just like the restaurant. I dont believe there is a better place south of Robstown & that's why we will always stop here on our way home. read more

The food was great. I never am disappointed when I go by this place. It's a small restaurant but worth the stop if you are in the area.

Most delicious fried chicken in Texas. Great service and great price. Family owned and been established for many years.

Table was dirty which is expected to be outside but it looked unclean for days and it was kinda annoying that they didn't have drinks or condiments and they did tell us they didn't have condiments till after having to walk down the street to get drinks. Overall food was good fresh a lil over seasoned. Give that old rugged aesthetic that some ppl might like. read more

No flavor at all. Very disappointing. Friendly staff but they can't overcome flavorless fried chicken

I certainly see why everyone raves about this place. I will say though for the first time being there, it WAS good but it wasn't mind blowing. Let me start with the chicken. The chicken and the breading itself tasted like Churches chicken. But where Barrera's kicks it up is this seasoning they put on everything. Basically like a seasoned salt sort of deal. They cover the chicken and the fries with it. It does make it taste amazing but at times can get super salty. Gizzards and livers were good but I would actually lean more towards Chicken Express. Kids got some fish and shrimp. Same situation. Just overloaded with seasoning. You won't be disappointed with this place but you won't be too wowed. read more

I saw Barrera chicken on the Texas bucket list so we decided to drive all the way from Victoria to get it. We seen that it close at 7:30 so at 7 o'clock we called and nobody answered for 30 minutes we get there and they will not let us order the lady said, did you call it in? I said I've been calling for 30 minutes your phone is busy. She was very rude . And said no .and I will never travel down here again again to try this chicken heard it was good but with that customer service, who would want to go. read more

Raised in Robstown Tx I grew up eating fried chicken, French fries & gravy from Barrera's! No longer live in Robstown but make every effort to stop by pick up food from here when I'm in town! It's the best fried chicken in town! read more

Barrera's has the best chicken in Robstown and is probably better than all the Corpus chains. They season their chicken with a season salt blend as it comes out of the fryer and they do the same with their fries. The chicken can be oily at times but overall, it's great chicken. I really enjoy their gizzards but their gravy is thin and funky. No mustard!?! Be sure to call your order in because it's a stand outside and wait kind of place. read more

A friend of mine told me about this place I was kind of leery at first but decided to try it and I'm glad I did delicious chicken strips, perfectly seasoned, very delicious gravy to go along with the chicken strips, the french fries were crisp everything was hot. My trip from San Antonio to Robstown, Texas was well worth it especially to stop here. I recommend this place to everyone! read more

Chicken was fire as usual and so were the fries. A welcome change from the fast food chicken chains.

The chicken is fresh and made to order. When I came I could see the owner butchering the chickens up to go on the fryer. You won't find a better place within 250 miles. read more

I am a fried chicken aficionado. I never miss a opportunity to try and find the best fried chicken in the country. I saw the reviews here and decided to give it a go. A building and sign that is reminiscent of the 80s is a testament to the longevity of this place. No frills, just GOOD fried chicken delivered in a white paper bag. The way it should be!!! Not the best Chicken I've ever had but still top tier. However, the real star of this show is the fried chicken liver. Light and airy, crispy but not greasy. The absolute best livers I've ever had!!! Hands down... Greatness!!! read more

Worth a stop. When out of north Texas we usually follow recommendations from THE TEXAS BUCKET LIST. Found this one on the way to South Padre, Chicken breast was very crispy and juicy on the inside. Wings were a little dry. The seasoning was unique to say the least but very tasty. read more

Tenders were good! I got the 4 piece w fries. Can't go wrong! 3 piece all white is what I get, and they don't take too long either !

Cheaper then other chicken places like Golden chick. Prices, customer service and food speak for themselves. Yes I will continue to stop in Robstown when going to Corpus for lunch or dinner here. read more

I don't think there is anything special about the chicken. It does taste homemade. And the only difference I tasted is the the seasoning the add on top of the chicken after it comes out and is placed in the box. The gravy was good. Fried gizzards were good but tough. Rolls did not have much flavor. Something you can buy over the counter. Overall it was good but nothing special. read more

Great hole in wall. Wish there was more consistency. The Season-All plus Paprika blend is good.

Large pieces of very crispy and tasty, moist chicken for a cheap price. They add a shake of spice after frying them, i can only guess it's a combination of old bay seasoning with maybe a season all since the taste of celery is present. They serve the chicken with regular dinner rolls which are fine because the chicken makes up for it. The chicken can be at times a bit on the salty end but still good though. I did try the yellow gravy but was not impressed by it since I found it bland in flavor. Order comes out quick so I'm assuming that the chicken is partially cooked to speed up the cooking process but I may be wrong. None the less the chicken is good and you should give a try. read more

Finger licking good. Just the right amount of seasoning. Definitely need to get back over here. Great small town love right here.

Boy, what is the chicken recipe at Barrera Fried Chicken? This is such delicious and tender chicken. I understand people come from far away to eat this chicken. I love the okra and other side dishes. The workers are incredibly hard-working and friendly. I even bought a Barrera Fried Chicken t-shirt so I can to be reminded of this wonderful gem. I look forward to my next visit.
