I get back to office to eat my lunch, it wasn't served on a seeded bun, it was served on a soggy sandwich bread. and I was charged $12.00 when online menu has a price of $8.99. I had eaten here once before and really enjoyed it. I was craving bbq and decided to drive from the island to Mr. G's. The restaraunt was not busy at all except for two other tables. I ordered the mixed plate which was 2 meats, potato salad, beans and trimmings. The waiter brought me sweet tea which was very delicious and refreshing. I ordered double brisket and sausage. The waiter never brought me cheese and crackers which I remember eating the last time. I finished my tea and had to call the waiter for a refill. I noticed the people next to me were eating crackers with cheese, so I asked the waiter for some. He replied that they were only available after 4 p.m. and it was 3:45 but said he would bring some. Well he never brought my crackers and brought my food. I did not know because the waiter did not ask me but you can order marble or lean brisket, only found out because I heard him ask a different table. The food was ok but not worth the 15.00. I had two good size slices of brisket but half of each slice was all fat. The other side was ok but a little dry. I had to ask the waiter for bread, napkins and silverware. The waiter never came back to ask if we needed anything. As I was paying, the cashier did ask how everything was and I told her that I had better experiences. She then asked what was wrong but I told her that it was ok and that I would write my review on yelp. Not sure if the waiter who was an older gentleman was having a bad day, but he really made my experience so bad that I will never return. Update: came back a second time and still did not like it. Brisket tasted like it was made in an oven. Also, they do not trim the fat. So if you order stringy beef, be prepared to get about 1/2 of the slice with fat. No smoke ring on brisket either. I normally go to BBQ Man. For some unknown reason it was closed today so I tried this place. The food was ok, Not bad but nothing to brag about. The prices were ridiculous for the amount of food you got and well the BBQ sauce was one of the worst I have ever had. My husband and I are new to Texas. We were going to eat at Barbecue Mans Restaurant, not knowing they didn't open on weekends. So we will try them another day. The reason I picked Bar-B-Q Mans was because I read that their sauce is sweet and that's what I prefer. But anyhow, Mr. G's was right down the road so we went there. We got the 3 meat plate with potato salad and beans. The brisket was very tender, the ribs and chicken were good. But I did not like the sauce. No biggie, I ate the meat without the sauce. It was pretty good. Although everything could have used salt. The service was wonderful, lots of tea refills without having to ask. Very nice, friendly staff. Restaurant was clean. Worst Texas BBQ that I have ever had. I ate there at food truck Friday and was utterly disappointed. The sandwich was pre made and wrapped. No wonder there was no line. The meat was dry as a bone and cold. The sauce was thin and tasted bad. I certainly would skip this place and move on. read more

OK! My son and I are on our way back from San Antonio through Corpus Christi and decided we wanted some barbecue for dinner that night. Saw the sign for Mr. Gs BBQ take exit 2 so we did. Called their number place our order got in line in the drive-through. Almost 45 minutes later we got our food . I don't remember the exact amount it was but two dinner plates with one meat was well over $30 I had the ribs and my son had sliced barbecue brisket. My two sides or about a little maybe 3 ounce cup of mac & cheese and canned green beans. My son had the pinto beans and mac & cheese. Not sure but I'm pretty certain the pinto beans or canned as well. Now for the food. Never have I paid so much for such small portions of barbecue in my life it was ridiculous. The pork ribs were rather dry had no seasoning or smoky flavor on them at all. Same with the brisket not to mention the brisket I poured off almost 3 tablespoons of Greece yuck. Do they actually smoke the barbecue??? And although I can't prove it and I'm not saying I have an overly sophisticated palate but the ribs tasted as if they have been frozen at one time. Now I know during this coronavirus BS and they're not having as much business as normal might have something to do with it but I don't think there was any excuse for that food that I was served. This place needs to straighten up their act and learn how to make good barbecue. I will give zero stars if I could. read more

Will probably get a lot of hate for this, but I was not impressed with the brisket at all from this place; maybe a off day but ,I ordered moist and the pull on the meat was tough I could tell they pulled it from the moist because of the piece of deckle they gave me looked great nice smoke ring but did not have a smoke taste that I was looking for and too top it off it was tough for moist .Potato salad and beans are standard nothing special , and that's my pet peeve that everyone's BBQ in corpus tastes the same with the exception of a few I will not mention .Great service and friendly ... Summary: Good for what its worth! Review: We ended up going to Mr. G's since Bar-B-Q Man's is closed during the weekend. We didn't really regret it. When we got inside all the workers were super nice! We were about to order take out but the friendly workers convinced us to eat in! The difference here and Bar-B-Q Man's is that they have a set menu where you have to choose up to three meats. In Bar-B-Q Man's you could just get whatever and you'll get a lot of it while here you can only choose a few of the meats and get kind of a little of each. I must say that the sausage might actually be better than the sausage in Bar-B-Q Man's. I think the brisket and ribs were good for what they were as well. In terms of sauce they have a bit more tangy sauce here compared to Bar-B-Q Man's with a noticeable tomato flavor. I think Mr. G's should give more in terms of servings. Especially since you're practically paying more than you would at Bar-B-Q Man's. Overall, I still think Mr. G's is good for what its worth! If Bar-B-Q Man's is closed, then Mr. G's is a good holdover until Monday lol! read more

Pretty darn good. I loved the beans. They ran out of sausage and later in our visit they were out of brisket. I understood as I would rather they run out then serve old meat the next day. Pork ribs were delicious. The chicken wasn't anything special but not bad. The sauce was good. Tried this place for the first time last week and loved it. Had heard that the original pitmaster from Cotton's (burned down in Robstown) was manning the pit here. Great food! Tried the brisket and ribs on the 2-meat lunch plate. Both meats were well seasoned and had that great smoked flavor. Didn't use any sauce either. What caught me off guard was that they will bring you as much meat you can eat for the plate you order. The service was outstanding and very accomodating. I had been eating at Howard's, which I like too, but found the seasoning here more "spot on", at least for my taste buds. The potato salad was creamy--if you don't like the creamy version, it's not for you--and the beans well flavored. I will definitely go back to check out the other items. read more
