Pizzeria Uno/Speakeasy at the Spa main entrance

Visited here for a mid-week dinner with our little kids after hiking at Indiana Dunes. Was hesitant to try it due to some pretty poor reviews of this place, but I'm happy to report our experience was fine! We did NOT have to wait forever for service or food. Our food was good--the deep dish Numero Uno could have been warmer (knocked off a star for that) but was still enjoyable. Seems like Uno's is sort of combined with the Speakeasy at the Spa place. The building is adjacent to the Spring House Inn. The dining room with the bar definitely has the speakeasy vibes--they even have a grand piano in the corner. There is also a separate large family dining room. They have some interesting historical antiques to look at in the lobby/waiting area, as well.

Windy City Works

My rating is 100% based on service and our experience. The Windy City Works pizza was very good and we enjoyed it a lot. The bbq chicken bites were ok. We got there approximately 5 PM. The guy let us know that they are understaffed and to be patient. No big deal. He vanishes. Comes back maybe 25 minutes later and finally takes our order and brings waters maybe 5 minutes after that. Pizza comes pretty quick. Then no one ever returned. No refills or anything on drinks. We had finished eating 45 minutes before I had to ask for a box and our bill. He then tells me he doesn't know how to do a gift card and needs his boss to do it. Another 30 minutes go by. Finally the "boss" comes and tells me he cannot accept my gift card because they have a new system and it's not allowing gift cards at this time. WTF?! Maybe put that on your door so people know. At this point it's 7PM and we got done eating well over an hour + ago. I saw several groups leave and walk out because they were tired of waiting. The table next to me was really mad because they never got refills or any boxes for their stuff. Not many people were happy at all. I would NEVER return to this location!

Food was great, service was SLOW! Don't go if you are in a hurry. There were only 3 of us in the restaurant and it took us forever! But the pizza was first rate!

Good every time. Music is super fun on Fridays! Drinks are good too. Service isn't fast but the quality is good!

Food was okay, service average, but no control over the loud and obnoxious customers.

I was happy they had Good Boy vodka, because a lot of restaurants don't carry that brand. Our bartender Maddie was very attentive, friendly and outgoing. We enjoyed the atmosphere because it was smoke free, not very busy, but busy enough and plenty of TVs to watch sports. We will definitely be back.

It wasn't that busy on a Friday afternoon. I got the BLT and fries, it was good but I had to take out the piece of toast in the middle, they could probably do away with that. My husband's chicken bacon avocado sandwich was enough for two. You could probably split it if you ordered an extra side. My mother in law ordered the same sandwich and they both agreed that it could use some sauce or maybe even some of their aioli, you could probably order some on the side. My father in law got the pulled pork. He is a picky eater and he said it was good. He didn't like the cole slaw, it wasn't tart enough for him. I don't like cole slaw anyways so I couldn't give you my opinion. The server was attentive and professional. We enjoyed our meal.

Those who travel on I-94 and I-80/94 from Illinois to Michigan and vice versa won't know about…read moreLeroy's unless they divert their travels to U.S. 20. There in the town of Porter lies Leroy's, roughly a mile east of Exit 22, a place we frequently passed by over the years but never checked out - til last nite. And though a wee bit apprehensive upon arriving, those hesitations quickly vanished upon entry. Admittedly it can get noisy in the main area (wherein lie the bar, band stage, pool tables and some seating arrangements), which you have to pass thru (a bit awkward) to get to the main dining area (quieter but not totally devoid of noise). Compounding the noise factor were a few babies who let everyone know how they felt. But it wasn't too long before they stopped crying and the band concluded. However, regardless, none of it deterred me, my mixed race son or his mom from having a memorable time. Whatever noise existed was compensated by an overall delightful atmosphere. Not quite what we anticipated but it was so cool. From the moment we sat down at the one remaining unoccupied booth (open seating) til departing, all three of us had a wonderful time. The food was just terrific. The combo plate (mine), the chicken con queso (my son's dish) and chicken en mole (his mom's) were all tasty with good portions and fairly priced (the rice and beans particularly tasty). It's also not often you can get a good selection of meals under $15 these days but here you can. The salad was quite notable since all premium greens were used, no head lettuce or romaine. Impressive. The salsa could perhaps use a little oomph but hardly bad. The complimentary chips looked homemade and were good but could have used a bit more salt. We did initially ask for our chips instead of being automatically delivered but they came fast and as soon as we finished the first batch, a second was quickly delivered to our table. We also had to request sour cream as it didn't come with the meals but was also promptly brought to the table and also at no charge. The pop and free refills, served in decorative glasses, rounded out our stay. But as much as the food was worth what we paid for, equally memorable was the attentive service from the git go. We could not have asked for better. Nicole, our waitress, was superb thru and thru, perfect. Same with Brandon, her husband, who looked like a supervisor and came to assist wherever needed (as he did with the bringing of food and drink). He also took time from his schedule to chat with us at breaks and in doing so, hit it off with us. Not something we obviously expected but we loved it. Great guy as well as his wife. Both individuals were the faces of Leroy's and they sold it oh so well. We all don't have that kind of money to eat out that often but with the fine food and unusually good service we will have to find a way to soon return to Leroy's. Despite the noise, very highly recommended and worth the drive, regardless of whether you live in Hoosierville or just passing thru. One of those hidden gems. Ignore all the old whiny reviews. Leroy's is indeed good stuff and for good reason.
