My family and I love this place. I enjoy the fried chicken and my husband loves the chicken Parmesan . We like the atmosphere because it is very low-key and not pretentious. Not that we don't like pretentious restaurants, lol but it's nice to sit down and have a nice meal and not feel like you have to be fancy. The food is solid here. The only thing I would have them improve on is the pizza. But I am a huge pizza snob, so I'm kinda hard to please when it comes to pizza ‍ read more

4 out of 5 stars for today. Wife ordered a Cuban, which she absolutely loved. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak. I was vacillating between the Philly and The Reuben. I kind of wished that had ordered the Reuben. The Philly was ok, but it was really "bready" and didn't have a lot of flavor. The side salads were good and so was the service. Very nice and cozy spot. Love tge fish tank. Looking at the fishes and sipping my margaritas were very relaxing. Margaritas were delicious! Food was ok. We had chicken tender dinner and baguette for appetizers. Then I had a cheesy potato soup. That was the best thing I had besides the margarita. Fries were good. We had the Cappo's combo pizza and the Italian beef pizza. I liked the Italian pizza better. I believe our server name is Michelle. She was delightful and very attentive. That was my first time there and definitely not my last. I recommend anyone to give them a visit! read more

I had heard about the pizza at this place being outstanding and have been wanting to try it for awhile. Finally got around to it today, and it was the worst pizza I have ever had in my life. I ordered it online at 3:45 for carry-out to be ready at 5:15. I arrived at Cappo's at 5:10. I expected to have to wait, but they brought it right out. I noticed the bottom of the box was not hot, like a fresh pizza normally would be. It took me 15 minutes to get home, and as it was packaged in a sturdy cardboard box and, I thought, had just come out of the oven, I expected it to be hot and fresh. Wrong...I opened it up and it was BARELY luke-warm. As cool as it was, I believe they started making it as soon as I ordered it, rather than wait to time it out for 5:15, which I requested, and it was sitting in a warmer for over an hour. At least it looked appealing, and l couldn't wait to try it. I ordered the 16" with crumbled sausage, mushrooms, and pineapples. The first bite I took and OUCH!!! It tasted like they covered it in pepper! This was a corner piece, and I thought that maybe some pepper accidently got spilled on that section. I had 2 more pieces from the center, and they were the same. It was so spicy, I was literally sweating after the first several bites. Not sure what happened with the mushrooms and pineapples - there were some present, but scarce. I was hoping that there would be enough pineapples to help blunt the fireball from the pepper, but that was not to be. I absolutely hate spicy food and cannot tolerate it, and I was getting ready to throw the whole thing in the trash, but since my wife, who was out of town, likes spicy food, I saved the rest of it for her. I thought about calling the manager to complain, but I guessed all he would do would comp me another pizza, and I will never, ever subject myself to that 3-alarm fire in my mouth ever again. I would rather have a bland Little Ceasar's or gas station pizza over this crap - I will speed past this pizza place any time I'm driving down route 6 so as not to have any floating pepper debris coming from their restaurant inadvertently get near me. If you don't like hot, spicy food - avoid Crappo's. If you expect your pizza to be hot and fresh when you pick it up - avoid Crappo's. You have been warned. read more

My wife and I chose Cappo's because it was close to the HS. We were seated right away but we did have to wait for a server longer than expected seeing that it was empty. I ordered the iced tea and it tasted strange and I just stayed with the water. I ordered a sub sandwich and based on the price I was pleased, until my order arrived. There was next to no meat on the sandwich and it was tiny. My wife ordered the beef sandwich, she wasn't pleased. She was surprised it had raw onions on it and it came with a cup of au jus. Again the meat was lacking and the sandwich was small. My daughter ordered the fettuccine alfredo. She barely touched it. Maybe it was just an off night for them. Every pizza I order from Cappo's, no matter if it's classic sausage, vegetarian, or cheese (extra cheese, or course), it's identical to the LAST time I ordered one. It's the consistency for me. With Cappo's being a local favorite, it's nice to have the freshness that's expected along with the consistent flavors usually reserved for pizza chains. Welp, Cappo's gets 2/5 stars.... Spent $32 on Italian beef w/ fries An Italian chef salad. Jalapeño poppers. And extra fries. The Italian beef was tiny, for $9 i could have gotten a massive beef anywhere else. The poppers were cold, and a total of about 7 poppers, 3 of them was just bread, no jalapeno inside. The salad they put on top of my beef box, so when i got home the salad was warm... nobody does that i just didn't think about it. And they forgot a fry order. For $32 I'm still hungry after my beef and my fiancé has to wait until her salad gets cold again to enjoy it. Poppers went in the garbage. But the beef tasted good, besides the soy sauce like juice. The service keeps getting worse and worse here. My son and I went for lunch today. Our server, older lady, absolutely looked alike she hated her job. We both ordered our drink, sprite and a beer, she brought them back and put them down and walked away. Didn't leave a straw or ask if I wanted a glass. She came back 15 minutes later to take our order. We ordered and the food came out. I had about 15 fries on my plate and she did bring our sides. We had to ask again. She retrieved them and then we didn't see her again until she brought the check. We nursed our drinks for over 40 minutes without her even inquiring if we wanted another. This place is missing the previous owner badly. We have been eating here for 15 years, between the changing food and the poor service. This may have been the last time we eat here. read more

It is truly well made American- Italian food, it will be disappointing to the more ethnically sophisticated palate. However, I take out frequently and they are super efficient and the food is good. Ordered pizza and a catfish dinner. Pizza was great my husbands catfish dinner was awful. He couldn't even take a bite without even getting a mouthful of bones. We have never ever had catfish like that. If you can't clean out the bones at all don't bother offering it as a meal. Good thing I ordered pizza so he could eat that he threw the whole catfish in garbage what a waste of money and time. Pics below. We have done take-out here. Always good service through there. Go in the back door where it says "carry-out" to pick up. We dined in the other night. The service was awesome. The food was quite good. I got the Italian beef with cheese, peppers, & onions & a side of fries. My husband ordered the fried chicken & masked potatoes with a side of slaw. We were pleased with the portions & the food was exceptional. The ambience is warm and inviting. The prices are reasonable. As usual we will be back here. read more

Welp. My boyfriend brought me here. He remembered it being one of the best pizza places but he also hadn't been here in a while. First off...lol the pizza crust is not handmade. No way. You can tell it's machine made and it tastes like it as well. You shouldn't have that on a menu if it's false. Our pizza was also very watery. The cheese stuffed bread sticks I did enjoy. D and I were looking for somewhere different to go in Portage that we haven't been. I searched on Yelp and settled on Cappo's. We went around 3pm and the place was mostly dead. It picked up a bit once we settled in. I eyed the Cappo's "Famous Fried Chicken" but ultimately went with the Fried Catfish dinner. D decided on the Fried Chicken meal and we ordered mozzarella sticks for appetizers. Our server was nice and accommodated our requests. I liked the catfish and D enjoyed the chicken though he didn't get what made it famous. Portion sizes were a bit small on both dishes and we wound up feeling hungry still. Oddly enough though both of us had a case of the runs when we got home. I'm not sure if it was something in the food that set us off. The one item we had in common was the mozzarella sticks which seemed okay though they could've been hotter. The pizza looked good. If we go back which I'm not 100% sure on, that'll be the next thing to try. read more

I walked in expecting something entirely different. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was really comfortable and I was pleasantly greeted. Was asked if would prefer a booth or a table. I sat across from the bar and was greeted by a very pleasant young lady by the name of Cassie. Her smile was covered by the mask but you can see her smile in her hazel eyes. I came in for pizza because I heard it was fantastic but when I saw they had a reuben sandwich, so . . . I went there immediately. It was normally served on Na'an bread but they had it available at the time on marbled rye. BONUS! Stick with the marbeled rye! The sandwiched was toasted perfectly but could've had a few more slices of corned beef. But it was still very flavorable. It came out immediately from the kitchen and was at the right temperature. Great sandwich!! OMG, the waffle fries were fabulous. They were nice and and hot, perfectly salted and required no ketchup for added flavor. The Sam Adams beer from the tap was super cold. After a long work week for the wife and I, we definitely didn't have us in it to cook dinner. We opted to go online and order it instead. Thank goodness we did. The food didn't disappoint. I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and wow! Tasty, juicy, just the right crunch. The mashed potatoes and gravy were the icing on top. My wife had the shrimp with baked potatoes and she was equally impressed. My twin daughters split a full slab of bbq ribs... let's just say the plates full of bones were a telltale sign of what they thought. Thank you Cappos for such an enjoyable dinner.
