Unique place for some good food. Their Cappo's Stix (breadsticks) are great- crunchy but soft inside! And they're served with a garlic butter, as well as a marinara sauce. I've only ever had their pizza here but it's worth trying. Their crust is thinner and not too crispy- just perfect! We got the Wild Mushroom Alfredo pizza and it was delicious! Out of beer on a Friday night. Was told they hadn't had Miller Lite in a week. Wife's Italian beef was raw and bloody. Service was horrible. Dirty napkin dispenser was empty. Ordered lake perch, but couldn't get any butter. Had to eat curly fries, because they were out of regular fries. Came here with my partner in crime and girl. I hadn't been here in a few years and have memories of it being great. Well..... I'm very unimpressed to say the least. You can not claim to be a premium pizza place and use pre made crust. We ordered the 12" spinach Alfredo with chicken pizza. It was watery on top made with a store bought crust. This was my second visit ever and WOW! We stopped in yesterday and tried the Italian beef sandwich, it was fantastic. The beef was just perfect, the au jus sauce was hot and delicious, the fries were crunchy and service was outstanding. Even the cashier had a great personality. I like the place. I have not had a bad meal here and the service is good. They have microbrews to drink if you like them. The pizza is great. Their specials are great. Their menu has gotten smaller than what it use to be but all the food they still serve is very good. If there was one bad thing to say about the place is the entrance can get crowded coming in and out when they are busy. However, I think that is a good problem to have because they are so popular. I've been coming to cappos for years and finally I'm at the point where I need to make a post about the quality of food. Recently the last two time I've come to cappos I did the build your burger. The meat was close to the rare side instead of medium rare. I didn't complain I just didn't eat more than 2 bites because I had so much juicy blood running out. Currently I'm sitting in cappos and I just ordered the Ruben. When I took my first bike of my sandwich my lips started to sting a little bit. As I chewed I could taste a chemical taste in my food. It was only on the bread. I didn't take another bite I started to take a drink and lick my lips trying to get whatever chemical taste out of my mouth. Truthfully it really sucks posting this review because normally I would post a positive review. The last two trips I've had at cappos have been horrible. I really hope they get it together. I've been coming here for years and I'm only posting this hoping the owner reads it and maybe makes some changes. If you are in the mood to eat reheated frozen food, listen to a toilet flush and yell over the carryout counter all night then Cappo's is certainly the place for you. Since I don't want to experience any of those things again, I won't be returning. We arrived around 6:30 on a Friday and were given a table straight away. However, the table we were given was next to both the restrooms and the carryout counter. I could not hear my husband who was sitting across from me. The service was excellent which is the only redeeming factor. We ordered the breaded eggplant for an appetizer. The moment it arrived I could tell it was frozen and deep fried. All I could taste was the breading. Before our main courses arrived, I asked to be moved to another table. That is the first time I've ever asked to be moved, but it was necessary. Once again, our waitress was very attentive and understanding. My salad was fresh and crisp, but could have used a few more vegetables besides onion. After seeing the eggplant, I wasn't expecting much for dinner. And we didn't get much. My husband ordered shrimp and fries. Again, you could tell they were both frozen and thrown in a deep fryer. Several of his fries were soggy. I ordered the lasagne and didn't take more than two bites. There was no flavor to the dish at all. The sauce was obviously processed and I wouldn't have been surprised if the entire dish was premade. Since my review, Cappo's has went completely non-smoking. Definitely another plus as far as I'm concerned. Although, it seems their pizza is going downhill a bit lately as far as the cheese goes, however, it's probably still the best in town. It would be really nice if they offered a thin crust though. Well...Food is still kinda ok...but the staff has gone downhill fast. The last two times I've gone, I noticed that they've hired cute college age girls to be servers and they just...aren't good. They bring the incorrect things and make excuses instead of trying to fix anything. They will sit talking at a table in the bar area instead of working. The table we sat down at was filthy. The service was so spotty that I ended up cleaning it myself with a napkin and a melted piece of ice from my water glass. The food suffered as well. My fiance ordered their fried chicken and it had zero flavor. The potatoes were instant and smothered in over-salted gravy. The coleslaw was warm and tasted like pure cabbage in what appeared to be water with some sort of white substance mixed in. The salad was completely wilted and slimy. It was terrible, to be honest. I have loved Cappo's from the time they were in the old Portage Mall, to their transition onto Route 6. This restaurant is always evolving, and if it is even possible, gets better every time I dine there. You can still find the comforts they have always offered, from Fried Chicken, classic ham and cheese, to their amazingly delicious pizza. Today, I ordered a gourmet 6" personal pizza...the Spinach Alfredo. Wow, this was INCREDIBLE. The flavors played off of each other so well, and the roasted red peppers were just the right touch to balance out the buttery goodness of all the cheeses blanketing this masterpiece. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous, and the staff is always friendly and treats you like you're a friend, rather than a customer. I cannot say enough about this restaurant. Best pizza in the Region. Never thought anything could top Greek's in Valpo, but Capo's is amazing. Makes me wish I still lived in the Region...going to find out if they will ship frozen pizzas to me in NC. If I still lived here I would probably gain 50 lbs. Went here for my birthday tonight to try something different. Never again... They weren't extremely busy but we still waited for our food for over a half hour. I ordered the Ravioli and they give you 6 pieces drenched in that hospital-tasting sugar filled marinara sauce. Additionally, the garlic bread that comes with it is overloaded in salt. My mother who was with me ordered fish which she ate 4 days prior while meeting a friend there for dinner. Apparently for her, the fish had rice underneath it 4 days ago, but didn't tonight. We were in the bar area and watched a guy sit there and get drunk while the bar tender and waitress used it to their advantage in what looked like a manipulation tactic in order to try and score a big tip out of him. The inside of this place is nothing like I thought it would be. It is located in a strip mall of sorts, so I was not expecting the open space inside the restaurant. The decor is pretty nice and they have a large fish tank with some nice exotic fish in it. As for the food, eh. I had the Waverunner sandwich (lightly fried tilapia) and it was nothing special really. The thing I liked most is that the bread was french bread with some garlic butter on it. I might have been more excited about my lunch if the waitress/cook got my order right. I asked for no onions...and there was a larger than normal pile of onions on my sandwich. It also didn't have tartar sauce on it, causing me to track down the server once again. Paying attention to detail is rather important when it comes to someone's food. Small, but plenty of seating and friendly staff. I couldn't snap a photo of the shrimp scampi ravioli, because my 16 year old devoured it too quickly. It looked delicious- large spinach ravioli stuffed with garlic butter, and shrimp, and covered with alfredo sauce. The negative was that the portion was not nearly enough for him. My daughter's chicken alfredo was very flavorful, and the hubs had their "famous fried chicken". Definitely flavorful and generously served. Cappo's makes a decent sandwich for a decent price. It's really nothing incredible, but it is quality eats for a reasonably cheap price. I had a few friends who worked there, they said it was clean in the back, and from what I've seen it's reasonably clean on the inside, although you shouldn't be expecting anything special...mostly wooden booths, some tables, nothing fancy. They are being forced to move by the city due to a remodeling process from what I understand, so look for a relocation and remodeling sometime in the future. read more

They get 3 stars because the food is good. Basic pizza joint stuff with some extras, but the service is so so. The waitresses disappear sometimes and the others there are clueless. Sitting with an empty drink glass is annoying and waiting for your check is even more so. We go here now and then, but would probably go more often if the service was better. read more

This used to be an extremely good restaurant but my experience on 2/22/19 was nothing short of disappointing. Not only did we wait for well over an hour for our food but when it finally arrived it was a C- at very best. Three of us got coleslaw with our dinners and it tasted spoiled. Those of us who had French fries all thought they tasted like they were cooked in dirty oil. My daughters Italian beef came out cold.
