It's been nearly 20 years since I have gone to an Uno. Lots have changed. They used to only serve root beer by the bottle! Salad was nice and big. Lettuce was cold and crisp. Dressing came on the side as requested. Fantastic service from our waiter. Meat lover's pie was not as good as I remember it being. Since coming here as a preteen I have actually eaten deep dish pizza and expect more in the crust department now (flakey kinda biscuit like is nice). Overall pretty solid food for a chain. My wife and I got stranded in Philadelphia for a few days after our flight got canceled. In the craziness of the moment we ended up getting a hotel room at the Best Western in Chester Pennsylvania. Across the street from the Best Western is a Uno Pizzeria & Grill. My wife and I went to Uno Pizza for lunch. There were a few customers within the dining room. A staff member greeted us warmly at the reception desk and asked if we had a seating preference, which we didn't, and she led us to a booth. I found the dining room area to be clean and well furnished. All but one television was operational, which allowed the customer many viewing options. The ambiance within the dining room created a wonderful eating experience. My wife and I ordered the lunch special - salad and a personal pizza. The hostess, Telia, I pray I got her name right, was truly amazing. She was prompt, patient and attentive to her customers needs. She would bring refills of drinks without even asking and patiently explained lunch options. The house salads were brought to the table in short order and I couldn't have been more pleased in their preparation and quality of the vegetables. Right as we finished our salads the personal pizzas were brought to the table. My deep dish meat lovers was delicious, I really thought I could devour it in one sitting, but to my chagrin the pizza was to much and a to go box was needed. My wife also really enjoyed her thin crust pizza and another to go box was needed. Telia's care and professionalism for her customers and for the Uno Pizza brand was beyond measure. Which directly led to a positive dining experience. I noticed that once customers were finished with their meals and left the establishment, the tables were quickly and thoroughly cleaned for the next customer. NOT a clean place. Water cup had a crack and was leaking all over the table. Our waitress was sitting across at a booth eating and folding silverware and napkins. She proceeded to lick her fingers when she got up to wait on us and other customers. Husband ordered a Miller lite and it was definitely not the correct beer and it was flat. Oh man, I haven't been to an Uno's in years! Are they even around Northern California anymore? Anyway, I was in Chester, PA for work last month and stayed right across the street at the Best Western Plus. I was super hungry after my late arrival, and luckily Uno's was open late. I walked across the street and was a little surprised to see a security guard in the lobby. I was told the neighborhood wasn't safe, but needing a security guard? Hmm, not sure about that. I was greeted right away and seated in the bar/lounge area. There were a handful of tables with customers at 10:30 on a Tuesday night. The bar area had plenty of seating and lots of big screen TVs. This Uno's is smack dab across the street from Widener University, so I bet they get a ton of student business. I ordered the namesake Numero Uno deep dish with chunky tomato sauce. The air conditioning was kind of cold for night, and a pesky gnat wouldn't leave me alone, but otherwise, the chair and atmosphere were comfortable. My server, Jay, AKA Bow Tie, had high energy for the late shift, and I appreciated his enthusiasm. I know it's been awhile since I've had Uno's pizza, but I remember their pizzas being served in a cast-iron pan. My little pizza was served on a little plate, sans baking dish. It made me wonder if it was actually cooked in one of those pans or just a reheated frozen pre-made pizza. The pizza itself was pretty good, but I was also super hungry, so I'm not sure if I would've enjoyed it as much if I wasn't so famished. I do remember the crust not being as crisp as I remembered. Who knows, maybe my old-brain isn't remembering the quality of those good-old days accurately. I was headed with my family back from a trip from Philadelphia looking for a bathroom before we got on the highway and saw this place as our last option. As I waited for my family to come out of the bathroom, I checked out the menu and had a pleasant exchange with the hostess. When my family came out, I suggested that we stay and eat dinner there since everybody seem hungry. This was a great call. Mother daughter team of waitresses was incredibly polite and professional and greeted us at the best table in the house and provided perfect service the whole night. We shared a pizza and a salad and my daughter got chicken nuggets and an ice cream sundae. Everything came out great and the pizza was delicious and filling and a reasonable price. At one point, a man came over to greet us, maybe the manager or the chef and he was also incredibly friendly. We've been eating out a lot lately because we were traveling and this was probably the cheapest and best meal we've had on all of our adventures. Highly recommend this location. read more

Added $8 to the bill and the manager gave me a nasty look when he went to correct it. My suspicions are that this way of overcharging is standard practice here, as the restaurant is across from Widener and is used to dealing with kids who don't check their bill Update- I was contacted by the manager who said that he spoke with the waitress. I feel like I need to say this upfront. I know that Yelp tends to not be friendly to chain restaurants. I know that many elite Yelpers pooh pooh such establishments. I also know that 9 times out of 10, local establishments make better food than chains. I believe these things to be true as well. I always have been. I also get that a native of Chicago would be pointing at me and laughing calling me a complete poser for liking Uno. I don't even dispute that. Until Lou Malnati's sees fit to expand to the Philly area, this is my choice. Let me single one thing out about this particular establishment. I visited them this past Sunday, and I have rarely encountered a more friendly staff in my years of eating out. Now keep in mind I had my insanely cute 2 year old son with me and he attracts attention. But it seemed that everyone who worked in the restaurant came over and made it a point to say hi to him with a smile. Let's just say that doesn't always happen in Applebee's. Plus my waitress was incredibly attentive to every need we had. Top notch service all the way. People seem to enjoy working here right now. I hope it lasts. The food, it was exactly what I expected. I loved my deep dish pizza with chicken, broccoli, and mushroom. The soup was maybe a little more processed and "chainy" tasting which is the best way I can describe it. The desserts were standard "ice cream on top of stuff" chain fare which is never a really bad thing in my book. I tasted my wife's thin crust with pepperoni and it wasn't too bad. I'd rate that more standard fare than memorable. But if I have a craving for my deep dish, I won't hesitate to come back for that. That's where they win me. This place may not be for you. First a disclaimer, I've never been to this location. So, you may be wondering why I am writing a review? Well... last week my dear mother-in-law retired from her job and she mentioned that a friend of hers was taking her to Uno for lunch on her last day. I called restaurant and spoke to the manager, Zahir, who helped me to surprise them by paying their bill. I went to this place to grab a beer and eat dinner. No body at the front to greet and I had to wait for 2-3 minutes. I ordered a beer but didn't have the ID so I was refused that I understand. The manager came and sat on the opposite side. Bad attitude!! Secondly, she explained me about the policy that they check IDs for people below the age of 30-40 years. Really shocking!! The policies should be same for all and how does she knows if a person is over 30 or over 40 years of age. At the end, she said if you show me your ID once, I would not have to bring my ID again as she would remember it. She also said if you would like to go out and dine somewhere else you're most welcome to do. That pissed me off. The law is that person taking the order must request for your ID and checks if it is a photo ID and also checks your age whether it is 21 years or not. (legal drinking age in U.S) No straw with the first drink, had to remind server to get it. Simple solution was to politely say no- and tell me that I do not have a ID and I cannot be served alcohol. I came in and sat at the bar area. The ambiance is nice love the TV screens definitely have great views if your a sports fan like myself. Very clean place with friendly staff. I ordered for drink a white sangria which was really good. I didn't get a appetizer for that I wasn't that hungry. But I did see they have shrimp and crab dip as a appetizer so next time I'll be trying that. For my entree I got shrimp scampi. I was not pleased with it at all. The sauce was little to watery and it didn't really have any flavor. Im giving only 3 stars because the bar maid forgot to put my food order in. She only remember because she brought out food for a couple that came literally a half after me. The last two times we have patronized this restaurant the service has been horrible and we were served cold food. We wanted to take our veteran out for dinner on Veteran's day and had to wait over an hour for or food, drinks were not refilled nor were we given silverware or straws. We were told that Part of our meal was going to be refuted and waited again for another 20 minutes. When we complained to the manager all we were told was the kitchen was backed up and an apology. I could understand if the restaurant was busy and the kitchen was backed up but it wasn't and that doesn't make up for the horrible service. We have eaten here several times in the past and never had these problems. We will not be returning. read more

Disgusting. I ordered a Cobb salad with no blue cheese and ranch dressing instead of blue cheese dressing. What I got was a salad with lots of blue cheese, and Caesar dressing. Even worse, though, was that the bacon on top of the salad was literally covered in congealed bacon grease. This was the worst thing a restaurant has ever served me. Unfortunately, it was a take-out order, and I don't have the option of returning to the restaurant to have them replace it. Stopped here after watching the USA Woman's National Team at Talen Energy Stadium. The restaurant was clean and the service was very prompt and friendly. The staff was all smiles. The restaurant is only a short drive from the stadium and was very convenient with plenty of parking. Ordered a deep dish pizza. Despite being a fairly busy evening with a bunch of take out deliveries and other sit down customers, the manager was awesome and made sure that everything was perfect for us. I didn't get his name but he was very accommodating and clearly cared very much about the operation of the restaurant.
