Woah holy miserable-atude from the brick oven set! I think it's time to see the ole brick oven bs for what it is, peeps! I've tried their fresh mozzarella pizza, buffalo chicken white pizza, and cheesesteak Stromboli, all delish! I don't normally like pizza but I like Swarthmore Pizza's creations. White buffalo? Thin-ish crust, floury tasting at edges, but has a buttery taste too. Buffalo sauce was that vinegar twang with a kick of spice. Chicken meat is cubed, not the canned pulled stuff. Cheese was baked on, not stringy, just how I like it for my Buffalo flava. The mozz pizza was perfect cooking timing so it didn't turn rubbery or gooey, but was hot and retained its raw flavor. Basil was still green, slightly dried, full of its regular zest. Cheesesteak Stromboli surprised me. I don't like mixing marinara with cheesesteak flavor, but the meat/cheese just popped out of the taste pool, and I could see everything else was just to set up the main stars! Thoughtfully done for sure! Now, the "foodie" squad is probably after the dying lame trend of burnt wood-fired gimmicky nonsense (literally the toxic waste firemen wear suits to protect against). What happened was shrinkflation sold smaller inferior pizzas by unskilled cooks burning it black and told trendmongers it was chic to eat. Ha ha ha! I eat real people pizza and Swarthmore Pizza makes exactly that! Old school classic American pizza like the 80s made! Ordered lunch special: fried flounder sandwich. It wasn't flounder but a fried fish cake -- perfectly square and about a 1/4" thick. Smaller than a McDonald's fish sandwich. I had a quick get together with a couple of friends and they decided to get a couple of pizzas delivered from Swarthmore Pizza. First, they ordered around 10 pies. Most of the pies they got were plain, but they also ordered a few pies with other toppings including pepperoni and mushrooms. I decided to have a slice of the mushroom pizza. When pulling a slice of pizza out of the box, I was delighted by how easily it broke off. However, I was quickly disappointed after seeing how greasy the pizza was. Further, I felt as if the flavor of the pizza was nothing spectacular either. The cheese and sauce was fine, but nothing popped out. Also, the pizza was fairly doughy and the crust was a bit dry and bland. I did like how tasty and fresh the mushrooms were. Swarthmore Pizza is one of my favorite places to dine in and take out in Delco. Throughout the pandemic they have been doing all they could do to keep the community safe. Including, donating to hospitals and healthcare workers . I was dining in Friday night and overheard a woman complaining about employees not wearing their masks. I only saw one employee with his mask below his nose for a minute and that's because he was unfogging his glasses! Let's try to be kind to the small businesses that our trying their hardest to stay afloat and feed our community. Instead of knocking them down, let's continue to build them up. I picked up takeout today and saw three employees not wearing their masks properly while making food. Two had them below their noses and one was wearing it over their nose or mouth. He was making the pizza. I told the cashier and she (1) said they fall down. I said that's not what's happening in those three instances and pointed to them. (2) told the one guy with his whole face out to pull it up and he groused. She had to ask multiple times and he argued with her or cursed me. He still didn't pull it up all the way. I told her I'm calling the health dept. Starting tomorrow there is no indoor dining in PA. Isn't that ironic? My sister is a nurse in a COVID ward. There are no beds left. She sees people DIE EVERY DAY. The people at Swarthmore Pizza are part of my community. I don't want people who are my neighbors and community members to die. Do better. just had the best dinner at Swarthmore Pizza. we started off with one of the appetizer specials, shrimp and scallops wrapped in bacon and it was incredible then for dinner, my husband got the homemade veal Parmesan with a side of linguine and I had the homemade lobster ravioli both entrées were absolutely delicious, and the portions were huge !!!! I also treated myself to one of the specialty cocktails, which was a lime margarita, and it was so good. They offer traditional or brick oven pizza choices. Got margarita pie from brick oven. Small in size.Crust was not crispy. Cheese ok. Sauce ok. Not very distinctive taste. Disappointed. This was the most disappointing experience I have had in a long time. My roommate and I placed a fairly large order this evening and EVERYTHING was incorrect. One cheesesteak had the wrong cheese, another didn't have any cheese at all. We asked for "Texas fries" with the ranch on the side, the ranch was on the fries... We also ordered a calzone that was supposed to come with marinara but they forgot that as well. Oh and the caesar salad....that contained pieces of lettuce bigger than my face, no exaggeration. Haha oh and we tipped before we checked our order. Needless to say we won't be ordering from you guys anymore! -p.s. Swarthmore pizza is by far one of the best places in delco to grab a bite to eat. The staff is super friendly and has made sure over the past few months to ensure the safety of their customers by social distancing, wearing masks etc. Their Sicilian pizza and white pizzas are awesome. I ordered bacon cheeseburgers on two separate occasions and they forgot the bacon both times. I called to complain and the girl on the phone didn't seem to have the time of day to even let me finish my complaint. She cut me off in mid sentence more than once and was kind of like, "Oh well". I'm new to the area and I ordered from them fairly often, however, they lost my business - not so much because of the mistakes, but because of the girls' attitude when I called. After reading many other complaints from their customers, it seems that they just don't care about their unhappy customers. They never responded to my e-mail complaint - not even to apologize. There are too many other options to go to than this place that has marginal cooking skills and zero customer service skills. I have had much better experiences with the 320 Market Cafe. Do yourself a favor and kick Swarthmore Pizza to the curb, after all, that's what they do to their customer's that have complaints. read more
