    a pizza in a box

This is probably my favorite pizza in the area. Reminds of a Philly walk in for a slice shop. Thin without being called "thin crust". I lived in the Upper Darby area for most of my life and a lot of the pizza shops in that area are Greek owned and their dough is different, not sure how but it is, and thicker. Anyway, I think I may have to ask them for lightly well done in the future just to sure up the bottom a little, otherwise a great pie. Nice flavor and plenty of the topping I ordered.

Excellent service even when it is super busy and the line is out the door. Great food all around, highly recommend.

The best thing here is the fresh roll. If you starving for a fresh roll, weak sandwiches and basic pizza this is your place. If not avoid.

This pie has good crust, great sauce and really good toppings all around. I have already gone out of my way a few times when I was remotely close to driving near Aston five points intersection. That is how huge of a find this restaurant is. The 1st time in, after reading a few Yelp reviews- and while on a random drive through Aston, I decided to try their pizza and garlic knots. I was absolutely blown away. This is a nice, family run shop and I highly recommend it as a pizza and appetizer connoisseur. If I lived closer, it would be my weekly spot or any time ordering pizza. Bravo, Amores Kitchen family!

I seldomly give 5 stars and this family owned takeout has earned it!!!…read more Being in Philly for a day I really wanted a Philly cheesesteak. I love supporting local mom and pop shops and I'm so happy I found Amores Kitchen. We met Candi (owner), her son Raymond James and her mother. Everyone that works there is family or like family; only those she trusts to serve top quality food that she would. The Philly cheesesteak was amazing!!! I didn't have to go to downtown while the Eagles played and sit in traffic because Amores Kitchen was soooooo good. Candi asked if I wanted my bread toasted or if I liked soft squishy bread. My personal preference for all sandwiches is soft. I got the works and I devoured it! My husband got the chicken parm sandwich and he loved it. Perfectly cooked chicken, melted cheese and perfect amount of sauce on a toasted hoagie roll. My son got wings and they were delicious. We got it with sauce on the side so it isn't a mess to eat. Crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The French fries, extra crispy with salt and pepper were by far the best fries we've ever had! Only regret is we didn't get more or stop in to get more due to our long drive. The garlic bread is more like garlic strips. Great garlic flavor with butter and herbs, served with a side of their marinara. Their sauce is on the sweeter side which we love. When we make sauce from scratch, we definitely add sugar to balance the acidity so it right up our alley. Candi is the baker there and she makes everything from scratch. They only had chocolate chip cookies available that afternoon. You can taste the homemade love Candi put into it. There's no sit down area. It's a takeout place but there seemed to be many regulars picking up and Candi knew their names. I witnessed it while waiting for our order. It truly is a mom and pop shop and a hidden gem to out of towners looking for places to eat. When I return to the area, this will be my go-to. I've already sent friends over. Candi, I hope to see you again!

Dinner was only a few hours off, but a bit too soon for a full lunch. However, the menu got the best of us and we ended up ordering a bunch of little things which ended up being far too much, but definitely in a good way. The space is quirky with a wonderful neo-mod design that is very eye catching and makes great use of the old diner aesthetic of the previous space, while improving upon it a hundredfold by making it much classier but not over the top. It does feel decidedly like a 1960's Italian locale out of a Roger Moore or Sean Connery era Bond film; to great effect. Another thing I loved about the design is that it feels compact but not small. I dislike huge restaurants, and love the family owned vibe, and this space occupies the very nice Goldilocks zone between being 'just right'. The food was good and I will get to that, but what really made our experience was our outstanding, amazing, dare I say...... legendary server, Alice. She was just flat out hands down an all around pro with a great attitude, a kind smile, and a wonderful personality who knew exactly how to keep a table like ours happy, engaged, and ready to come back again. This is something that I feel has been missing in so many places since Covid occurred, and encountering someone as great as Alice just really made the whole time there a notch above. Finally getting to the food, which was obviously delicious, there was nothing that was absolutely mind blowing, but all of it was very unique and extremely well prepared and flavorful. I did like that not everything was tomato-centric on the menu and there was a vast variety of different dishes that match the uniqueness of the space. The highlight for me was the carrot soup, not an every day item, that was nice and heavy with cumin. Brilliant flavors but not too forward, which followed our caprese dip that was an outstanding take on a dish that everyone loves, but is overdone at this point. The bread they are serving here is insanely good; either lightly toasted or grilled quickly on a flat grill, I am not sure, but slathered with high quality olive oil and it's perfectly soft, crispy, crusty, and chewy all at the same time. Testa Rossa is definitely worth checking out, and we only went for a few small plates with the intention of it being a snack. Apparently the family has more than one location, although I am not sure where the others are. If you are near Glen Mills, it is definitely worth the trip to stop in here and give them a try. Oh, and don't forget to pair your food with the super cool espresso martini tower, because you get to choose the flavors, but I'm still sticking with classic as my favorite!

Service the absolute worst- Bar very slow...and needs to purchase more rocks glasses... It shouldn't take 10 minutes to get a glass of wine!! Busy? Hire more f**ing people... Order pizza well done came out under cooked Ordered lasagna extra hot!!! Came out warm... I will say they did make another pizza and didn't charge us for either the pizza or lasagna Although all the while as we are stuck with half the table eating and half waiting for their food had no choice but to order another round of mediocre Pinot Grigio (they sell by the glass but not by the bottle...) asked our server about buying a bottle which she NEVER found out for us!!! Manager tried but honestly not much you can do at the point he showed up... Restaurant business is tough- been there done that but come on this was pretty basic stuff that was 100% screwed up!!! Personally NEVER AGAIN

A house with a shed turned kitchen on someone's lawn with a patio serving food? Why not? ..... I'll admit the pics of the pizza and supporting a fellow Sicilian (Sam) helped push me to visit, but the entire operation and their story intrigued me. I'll skip the story of their beginnings, but I just felt like I went back in time pulling along side a road to grab a bite to eat. Lots of shade trees, a converted shed into a kitchen and a large picnic gazebo/patio greeted me as I pulled up. (No bathroom on premises) Then I met Kayla (pronounced Ki-yla not kay-la) and Sam. They are nice welcoming, hard working people who made sure everything about my orders was right. First visit, I tried their cheesesteak with hot peppers. It was on an Amoroso roll. The portion was decent, flavors were good, little grease, solid melting of cheese in with the meat and the hot peppers provided just the right amount of kick and flavor. In hindsight I should have gotten the roll toasted a bit, but overall it was an average cheesesteak. Can't say anything bad about it. I ordered three pizzas to go the other day and they were tasty. The dough is made fresh daily. I haven't seen large thin crust NY slices in Delco before so that was a first. Couple observations, the pizzas are 20" so your slices will measure about 9" to 9 1/2" long. The crust was thin, crispy, had a nice light char and stood straight as an arrow. It's a little heavier on the sauce side which is thick, a little acidic with a sweet/spicy bite to it. I would have liked a bit more cheese to even out the cheese/sauce ratio. For $15 a pizza, I thought it was a good value, they do sell by the slice at $3. I will definitely stop in again to try their other offerings. A few people waiting for their food recommended the breakfast sandwiches and roast beef sandwich. Thank you Kayla and Sam!
