I assure you I'm not being paid to say this. The cheeseburger I just ate was absolutely the best I've ever had, phenomenal. It's even better than mine. They have been open since November 25th. It seems only by word of mouth (or word of Yelp.) but things get around when you have the best cheeseburgers in town. this is by far, better than Five Guys or Smash. I was promptly greeted by the owner, who shook my hand, and told me to sit down and he'd be right with me. I ordered the basic Unk Burger, plain with cheese, and he says, "That's how I like them." I've met my burger match, YES! I also ordered curly fries.(They aren't on the menu, but are worth ordering.) The owner, kept making friendly conversation with myself and the other patrons. He even shook my hand and said he had to leave to go and pick up his daughter. At this point, his son took over serving. The owner is Jesse. The son, one of them is Justen. Justen was cooking. The owner is Jesse. The food came out, hot, fresh and fantastic. The cheeseburger was juicy, and seasoned with onions cooked in with the burger, but unnoticed, only by taste.The bun was perfect, and the American cheese was thickly sliced. The curly fries were seasoned. There's alot of them. There's ketchup on the table, and I needed it. I also ordered unsweetened tea, which was fresh. Jesse and his son were remarkable hosts. Very friendly and infact, I got to talking to the owner. They are a local Raytown family, with the sons graduating from Raytown Highschool. I've been reading reviews for Unk's for weeks, and was totally excited to try it, and glad I did. It's now my favorite burger place, my go-to place when I don't want to cook. read more

Very unique burger. Their most popular burger was the one topped with baked beans. The waitress was very friendly and gave me the low down on the menu since it was my first time there. I went with the most popular burger and was advised it came well done. I kind of have my reservations with well done beef but if that's how they cook it, I didn't put up too much of a fuss. I don't necessarily like sweet things unless it's dessert so that's why I gave it three stars. I opted to turn the burger into the combo meal with a side of seasoned curly fries and a diet soda. The fries were just ok, I prefer Arby's seasoned fries really. Overall the burger and fries weren't fabulous but I'd give this place another shot for another burger. I am happily giving this restaurant five stars and my reasoning is going to sound odd but as I am elite on this app I am always honest. I am not giving this restaurant five stars because of the food, I am giving it five stars because the customer service was absolutely phenomenal! The young lady that took my order at the counter was very knowledgeable and assisted me in ordering my burger because it was my first time there. And then the cook came out of the kitchen and said hi to every table in the restaurant, come to find out he was the owner. He also brought me out a little sampler of the baked beans which were quite honestly delicious. I was not crazy about the burger, and I think the main reason for that is because I didn't like the flavoring of the seasoning mixed with the diced onions that are cooked into the patty. It just wasn't a good combo for me and the french fries were just fine. But please come and support this Black owned business and make sure you say hi to the chef! read more

Oh my I've never posted a review for Lee's Summit's best kept secret? I could swear I've left a review before, but maybe not or it got lost in the shuffle. This place is the bomb for burgers. I love how tasty it has with the secret (a bit of garlic in the meat) which is ingenious. The combo is worth the price. I've never had the everything in the basement or whatever that one burger is called, that's more for a big guy to handle, but I'm sure it's good. Truly, a one patty burger is suffice here but excellent. Anyone driving through Lee's Summit, passing through, for whatever strange reason for better places must stop here for this burger--it may in fact be our only tourist attraction. read more

They have a good variety of burgers to choose from, but I go for the Unk burger. Most the time I order Aunties Baked Beans as well, knowing I can't eat it all but that just means I get to savor them later in the evening . Well, I'm more of a traditional person I like my burgers only seasoned on the outside and unk's burgers tasted more like a meatloaf Burger. As for the staff they were very warm and inviting. They even brought a sample of their turkey beans which was good but I think it had a little too many onions in it. The price was decent I paid right around $9 for the combo. Overall it was a pleasant experience but I probably won't be back for their burgers. read more

Sadly, these weren't my favorite burgers. I think it's the flavoring they put in the patties themselves. They do not offer tap water so if you want water, you'll have to buy a water bottle. Our server didn't seem to care about her tables - we were done with our burger and fries and 20 minutes later, we were still looking for our chicken fingers order - once we got them, there was no apology, just placed on our table and walked away. Food was excellent. We had the fried catfish sandwich, basement burger, fried pickles and onion rings. Loved the kids artwork on the walls and paper on the table for kids to draw. We didn't have our kids with us but a nice perk if we did. Service could be better. Food took a long time. Our server brought our drinks and took our order and we didn't see her again. The cook brought out food and it wasn't until our food was delivered that we were informed there wasn't any lettuce. He also didn't bring out any of the requested condiments. For the level of "service" received I would have been happier ordering at the counter and having my food brought out to the table, or pick it up myself at the counter. I think that would have moved things along faster. The menu wasn't easy to read and since it was our first time there I didn't realize the sandwich came completely plain if you didn't request anything, something else I think would be your servers job to help make clear. There was also no tap water so your were forced to buy a beverage even if you wanted only water. I'm not cheap but come on! Price was a little high $34 for two people including 15% tip. Got a message that this restaurant was having a difficult time with the Covid restrictions and in danger of closing. So we ordered lunch today to help support a home town original. Door Dash delivered. My wife still loves their burger. She said it was hotter and fresher than one we recently got at a drive-in. Also the bun was fresher and better. I tried the chicken wings... Really good... Home style fried. They were hot... So we know they were just prepared and delivered. The hottest food we've had delivered from anywhere. Ok the curly fries were good too. But saving the best for last...I wish I'd ordered a gallon of the baked beans. Super hot...I had to blow on them to cool to eat. FLAVORFULL!! Definitely their own style... But oh so good. I see all the four and five-star ratings popping up, so I am going against the grain here. The staff UNK, Mrs. Unk, Jesse and the rest have to be just about the friendly est people on the planet. However, it comes back to Unk's burger doesn't it? They use Unk's secret recipe, which is the spices used on the burger. It was way overpowering. He is using good meat never frozen so let it stand a little on its own. Not a fan of the spice at all. I was looking for a good turkey burger, and the closest place to me that sold turkey burgers was Unks Burgers. The owner was very nice and welcoming. I asked for ice tea, and the owner asked if I wanted sweet tea. I said yes. What I actually received was more like sweet water. The tea was sooo week. I ordered seasoned fries, and fortunately, they were good. Now, the turkey burger was basically tasteless, waaay too much mayo and mustard. There was supposed to be pepper jack cheese, but I didn't see it. The lettuce was wilted, and there were no grilled onions as requested. The young man in the back who was cooking needs a few more lessons on how to make and assemble a burger. Over all, for the price $$, I was pretty disappointed. I could only eat the fries. I've been heading back more frequently since they have introduced a $7.99 combination deal. It includes a burger, side and drink. The burger is a bit smaller than their other ones (4 oz vs. 5 1/2, I think) but it's certainly big enough. For sides, I've tried the fried pickles (they didn't do it for me although I usually like fried pickles) french fries and sweet potato tots. The tots are BOSS! Unk's is a charming, family-owned burger joint that is nestled into a strip mall in Lee's Summit. I was a huge fan of Jesse's personality. I loved the spice profiles that were meshed into my burger. My toppings were ketchup, mayo, lettuce, and mushrooms. Unk's isn't a Blanc's burger where to get Rosemary or Caverari on your burger. Unk's keeps the menu very, very simple. But what they make, they make well. If I had to choose somewhere to compare them to, I would probably say that Unk's is much like Five Guys (which is a compliment in my book). I paid just over $18 for a double cheeseburger, a child's handful of seasoned fries and a small, non-refillable, drink. I waited 20 minutes, even though they weren't crowded. Was it a good meal? Nowhere near worth $18. Whitey's, in Pleasant Hill, had a better burger, with twice the portion of a side item and free refills for $6. The biggest asset that Unk's burgers has...is Unk! He is just so genuine , boyant, and friendly that you want to be a regular.. Case and point, while I was eating lunch, he had a spontaneous birthday celebration for a patron that he hadn't seen in years. That translates to to warm, melty chocolate chip cookies for the house! In case you're curious, Unk's has really yummy food too! I dig the heat, so I tried the "Hot headed niece". Which, by the way, is no different from the "Hot headed nephew". It is based on the sex of the recipient of said burger. Word to the wise, this is not for the faint at heart! Unk packs the center with chopped habanero peppers. And then tops it with pepper jack cheese. A truly delightful repast, if you, like me, enjoy a good burn. And if that ain't hot enough for you...ask for the ghost pepper cheese, and melt your sinuses. All their burgers come standardly with a choice of toppings for free, similar to 5 guys. There is a small up charge for toppings like bacon or cheese, but this is nominal. There are all the usual sides, with a few Unk twists, like pepper battered onion rings, and lightly batter french fries. I highly recommend the sweet potato fries. I am a freak for a good Sweet potato french fry, and these don't disappoint. The burgers are large, fat patties, like you would get at a family cookout. Portions are generous, prices are commiserate with the quality of the product you receive. On a quirky note, you can't get a glass of water, they only sell bottled water. Not a big deal to most, but if this is your preference, be aware. It didn't bother me, I'm addicted to diet Coke, and they supplied my fix! They are located in a strip mall, on the West side of the Hwy, just off of 3rd. Behind Freddie's and near Side Pockets. Confused yet? It is easier to find than it sounds, and well worth the effort. Idk if this is just personal taste, but their burgers (I got the 'Unk's burger') tasted disgusting; by far the worst burger I've ever had (my parents agreed).
