Two years after my last review of the post office in Georgetown and it hasn't gotten any better. This place sucks and the service sucks

US Post Office - Obituary of my Great Great Grandfather and second Post Master of this Post Office inside the Old McNeil Store.

It was so cool rolling up to this little piece of living history, right by the railroad crossing to boot! Felt like we'd gone back in time to the 1900s. It's off the main road a bit, through the entrance to the Austin Lime Company, so don't get weirded out or second-guess your GPS. It's tucked away by the railroads. Anyway, I had to mail a parcel, so I went in and rang the little bell on the counter for service. The employee was friendly and service was exactly the same as any other post office anywhere else; used my credit card for the transaction. One note, this location is only open half days: 8AM to noon. So if you need stamps or something in the afternoon, you'll have to seek out an alternate location. But good luck getting snacks and beer while mailing a letter anywhere else, lol!

I have lived here for about 3 years. Where I came from in Georgetown, they had the worst post…read moreoffice (took a long time to actual GET mail there, even if mailed from one state over. I mailed out wedding invitations and took forever to get to people). And, I first moved here, the service at this location was not that great. I liked the bigger parking lot and ease of getting in and out. But, the people behind he counter then, did not look happy at all, as was not that pleasant when you approached them. They did not seem happy to be working there. Well, this last two week, it seems they have done a complete "180" since then. I had to go in to get stamps for my Christmas cards, and then returned to ship packages (twice) and got Amanda all three times. But, while waiting in line, I heard the other two agents helping other customers, and all of them said when approaching the counter "Sorry for your wait". And, then was very nice to all I heard. But, Amanda was so nice to me. First time was simple transaction for just stamps. But, second time, one of my packages, I had the wrong zip code, and she looked it up and corrected it for me (Whew!). I thanked her for it. Third time, was again so seamless! I verified all info on the screen each time, and got all my packages shipped for the holidays! Thanks Amanda for making it good to come in again!

Calling to request same day correction is fruitless. They don't care if you needed that item by end of day. It's happened several times. Rarely do they answer their phones. Today was the lucky day I got someone but that didn't matter. I live 5 minutes from the post office and they still wouldn't correct it even though I notified them within 20min of the 2pm delivery. I wouldn't even waste my time with a review except it is a repeat problem. Never mind the fact another box in my neighborhood has been plowed down for what feels like over a month.

Best post office to renew or start the process for your passport…read more Staff is friendly. Just make sure you read the instructions carefully and understand what is needed. If you couldn't take a pic for your passport, they can do it there ($)

This Post Office has tanked. I have repeatedly spent $13 and more for simple Priority Mail that…read moretakes 10-15 days to arrive. They'll tell you it is not their fault (blame the main Hub, blame weather, blame whatever) but I track every package. I watch mail destined for the east coast get sent to Denver first. Mail I send to the west coast ends up in Jersey City. There are NO refunds for Priority Mail, they just accept your money, don't provide the service, and it's tough luck for you. The only person to blame is yourself for giving them your money. Separately, I've received crushed packages, no packages, and a family 3 blocks away share my same house number so we exchange wrong packages frequently; I'm lucky those people dependable, unlike the USPS. I have tried to support my local post office for many years now. Remember how we were encouraged to buy stamps and anything else to keep the USPS afloat? I'm old school; I did it all. Now I'm done. I should have learned my lesson long ago. I'm incredibly frustrated and disappointed. It's such a shame too because the clerks who have customer contact are some of the nicest and friendliest people I've met, and I've seen their faces for many years. They must take all the heat for late and missing mail. I will miss their smiles and the post office I remember, but I won't miss the grief I've experienced over and over again. If you need mail handled correctly the first time, find another provider.
