Sharon is FAB!!! I just had Sharon finish my wedding dress. She really took her time and did a thorough fitting. She even make a few last minute changes before I left to ensure that it was perfect. Her pricing was more than fair and she only charged what she quoted me. Her attitude and that of her staff was super friendly and inviting. She also helped my cousin with her bridesmaid dress. I would recommend her skills to anyone looking to have great work done with a smile. If I have anything else that needs to be altered definitely taking it to her. read more

More deserving of 3 1/2 stars but not deserving of 4 hence the 3 stars. Went to Unique Tailor for some custom work and spent a pretty penny on it. I was overall happy with the work and I feel like tailoring can sometimes be subjective so I won't go into detail about it. One thing I will say though and I hope this review gets read by an employee of Unique Tailor... They do not give you a hanger, garment bag or plastic cover (like the dry cleaner kind) when they give you your completed item back. A wire hanger and a plastic cover cost pennies to give and it's crazy that you can give them a $400 dress that they did $150 tailoring on and they just hand it to you! No hanger, bag ,covering, nothing! It's weird ,unprofessional and kind of disrespectful to the clothing, the money you spent and the work they did. read more

My experience with Sharon at Unique Tailor was wonderful. I wanted to add straps to my wedding dress, which was a strapless sweetheart neckline. It was really hard for me to tell Sharon what I wanted exactly, but did the best I could to show her pictures of what I was hoping for. She was patient with me, allowed me to test a lot of different suggestions by holding up different fabrics and creating example strap options, and helped me land on just what I wanted. She got really creative when she made the straps by combining two fabrics to get the colors to match perfectly. She also changed the back to create a V shape, which I thought was a much nicer look, but it would mean losing some of the delicate detail. She was able to save and reapply the applique so that I didn't lose anything at all and it looked wonderful. Lastly, she did my bustle and hem and I was told at my wedding by a guest it was the most beautiful bustle she's ever seen. Her prices were fair and affordable and I was so happy with the changes that she made! In my picture the top photos are obviously from the website and the bottom is the alterations. The middle one shows the straps close up but that is actually before they were fully finished. At my last fitting Sharon sewed them while it was on me so they would line up perfectly when closed. When I did fittings for my wedding dress, she told me she would show me how to bustle it when I picked it up. When I came to pick it up, she wasn't there and none of her assistants knew how to bustle it. So on my wedding day, we did what we could but it looked terrible. When I foolishly brought her a bridesmaid dress with a halter neckline, she tailored the halter neckline so tightly that it was honestly difficult to breathe when I wore it. Ended up having my fellow bridesmaids use a safety pin to connect the neckline and give me just a tiny bit more breathing space. It turned my neck red and raw from being so tight. read more

A bride's worst alterations experience! I will start by saying that my experience with Sharon at Unique Tailor was great at first! She was very sweet and I put my complete faith in her to complete the alterations on my wedding gown. Over one year later and my nightmare experience with this place is finally over. The day of my wedding, the stitching on part of the bottom of my dress came completely undone, and when my bridesmaids tried to fix it, they discovered pins left in the bottom of my dress. And nobody was able to figure out how to properly bustle because I never got instructions from Sharon on how to do this. We ended up having to safety pin the bottom of my dress. When I brought my dress back to her after the wedding and told her of what happened, she apologized and offered a partial refund and to have my dress preserved for me. I agreed and she took my dress. Over the course of the past year, I had repeatedly called Sharon to get an update on when I would get my dress back (I was moving out of state, it had been 6 months that she had my dress at this point). When I did the research and looked to see how long preservation takes, I realized that it does not take even close to 6 months to complete. Every time I would call, I would get no explanation from Sharon, only excuses and a promise that it would be done soon. It took over a year (14 months) for me to finally get my dress back. There was never during this entire time, an explanation of what was taking so long and I had an unsettling feeling that something bad had happened to my dress and I would not get it back. No apology, no note, no explanation of what happened, no refund. This whole process was extremely emotional for me and I am honestly not even sure if the dress that I got back is even mine. I am so so disappointed that this was my experience and hope this review will prevent this from happening to other brides. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR WEDDING DRESS HERE FOR ALTERATIONS. My dress has been here for 5 months and I finally had to walk out with it in pieces. Every time I had an appointment, my dress was never ready. Sharon always had it on the machine and asked if I could wait or come back. Rarely did I receive a phone to ask for more time. You could tell by the mistakes in the dress that she was rushing to get the work done instead of taking her time to get it right, even though I mentioned every time I was in there to take her time. The last two times I was in there, she actually had someone else, we had never seen there before to help her. I simply wanted the train taken off, the dress hemmed, and the hips taken in. It is a disaster. AND SHE MADE US PAY FOR IT. We negotiated a lower price, but we should have never paid for her mistakes. We all left in tears. And she was angry at us!!! I took my dress to another alterations place the next day to see if it could be salvaged or if I had to find another dress. This place said it could be salvaged but was really shocked at the work that had or HAD NOT been done. They also talked about how filthy the dress was and that we would have to get it cleaned before the wedding. Of course the dress was clean when we took it there. It was brand new. This alterations place also said mine was the third dress brought here from Unique Tailors. read more

Lord please don't waste your time. The customer service received from the front desk clerk maybe the worst ever. How hard is it to greet your customers? Or show some slight respect when asking for prices. She wanted me to try my dress on before giving me a price when I just needed it tailored in length! Horrible! After dealing with Unique Tailor on 2 separate occasions, I can't give this business any greater rating than "poor". Long story short, they took a week longer than was agreed upon to finish the job BOTH TIMES. I had 3 pieces made by Sharon who was kind enough, but lacked any real customer service skills (something I would expect when Im paying $400+ for the job). My most expensive piece was a bomber jacket which ended up not fitting and I still had to pay full price PLUS some added charges for the "extra work" she had done which I thought was ridiculous because she quoted me for less initially. I was happy with the other 2 pieces she had made, but after weeks of being unsatisfied, I could never bring myself to go back to this store. Probably a decent place to have minor tailoring done, but don't expect quality, prompt and courteous service. read more

Sharon altered my wedding dress and she did an Amazing job! I bought the dress off the rack at a bridal store. It was a few sizes too big and Literally a foot too long! It was made for a giant. We had no idea what the original dress was supposed to look like. It was basically a huge bundle of fabric and I said "Can you make this into a dress for me?" I brought Sharon pictures of other dress styles for inspiration; and she worked to create a beautiful, flattering, wedding dress! Sharon is extremely talented and has a keen eye for design. My son's first birthday party was two weeks away and I wanted to get him and my husband matching shirts sewn. Sharon normally requires 4 weeks to do custom work, but agreed to do it in two. She finished on time and the shirts fit great and look amazing! I also thought she was very reasonably priced. I talked to a few other tailors who quoted me double what she did for a toddler's shirt and asked for a pattern! I will always go to her for any of my tailor needs. read more

The only thing unique about this place is the horrible customer service. I dropped off a bridesmaids dress on September 15th, it was a floor length dress with two layers. It need to be hemmed a few inches and taken in. The person I met with was very nice, pinned the dress and marked the hem, she gave me a receipt with the price and the date that it would be ready which was September 25th. I realized on the 25th that I wouldn't make it so I called that afternoon and told them I would be there on the 26th, the person on the phone said that was fine and that they had a question about an inch of one of the layers of the hem, and they would have me try it on and see what it looked like. The next day I was given the dress to try on, one side had been taken in only the interior layer, nothing done to the hem. I was surprised and asked why nothing more had been done I was told "oh we weren't sure if you wanted both layers taken in or hemmed", I explained my confusion since both layers were pinned and both layers of the hem had been marked. She also was confused about hemming the dress because there was a pattern on it?? I didn't go to tailor school, but I'm pretty sure patterns aren't added to clothing after they're made. She claimed I had been called and someone had explained the situation, which I had not, something minimal was mentioned when I called them. Frustrated I just explained that I absolutely needed the dress the following Tuesday, October 4th. Since I wasn't given a receipt I called the next day to confirm. The person I met with the day before told me it was being worked on but she COULDN'T confirm that it would be ready by the following Tuesday (October 5th), she became irritated and told me they were they were behind because they couldn't figure out the notes on the dress from the 15th and the person who wrote them was out sick, no one bothered to call me or the person who took the notes. I told her it was unacceptable (they had the dress for 2 weeks) and I needed the dress Tuesday, I was suppose to have it a week before and I would need to pick it up if it couldn't be completed. She angrily told me that it would be finished. I still didn't feel confident that the dress would be ready so I called back to ask to speak to a manger, she claimed she was the manager, I explained my frustrations on the situation. She screamed back at me that I misunderstood the original phone call (I guess she was referencing the call I made to them) and that she had now told me 3 times the dress would be ready, and yelled what more do you want? Um maybe a little decent customer service? I replied "Literally 5 minutes ago you told me you could not guarantee that it would be ready on the 4th", she yelled back "you have 2 options you can come get the dress, or you can come on Tuesday and be done with it". I would have loved to have taken the dress somewhere else at that point but I didn't have time because they wasted it all. I told her I would be there Tuesday and she slammed the phone down. Nice! I picked the dress up today, I paid, they didn't even have me try it on, I asked to use a dressing room, tried it on to make sure something had been altered, luckily it had. Unique Tailor has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced, unless you've got time to waste, and want to be yelled at, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. read more

Very disappointed and will not be back. I emailed a photo of a dress I needed taken in and was told ball park $12-$14 without looking at it so I was expecting it to be more once they saw it. So I go in and try it on, they are going to take in sides, arm and shoulders and she told me $20 which was fine, then she realized there was a pocket so said that would be $8 more to move the pocket - fine again. I get my ticket showing I would owe $30 which I thought was fair. Sharon calls me the day before I am to pick it up to say the shoulders were pinned and did they need taking up because they weren't on the ticket? I said yes, sides, sleeves, shoulders - not sure why they weren't on the ticket but they weren't. I go to pick it up the next day and it's $48. yes, $48. She did drop it to $45 but had I known I was going to go from $14 to $48 I would never have had the dress altered. I paid more for the alterations than the dress. incredibly disappointed, did not get an explanation, barely got eye contact and acknowledgement and I am not normally a complainer - I don't know that I have ever done this but this required some complaints so other people don't get surprised like I did. read more
