This location (next to AP Fish) has been plagued for years with businesses that couldn't make it. I…read moream so happy to let you know that the plague has finally disappeared. There is now a really successful and well run business in that spot. This is it!!! I visited today and was absolutely delighted to discover incredibly low prices with absolutely flawless produce. Mangos were 99¢ to $1.39 depending on size, a full pint of blueberries were $2.99, plantains were 3/$1, 4 mini cucumbers ended up being $1, tomatoes were $2.99 where folks at other stores charge double for the same thing!! I can't quote you on all the prices accurately, but if you know your fruits and veggies the way I do, you'll notice that the prices are generally 20-50% lower than other stores. Also - FRESH dates. Yeah. My American ignorance was challenged today, folks. I'm glad. The owner gave me one to try and it was great! I'm specifically writing this review because I really really want this business to thrive. Please go visit!! You'll be happy! :) The owner genuinely cares about the customers being happy, the quality of the produce leaving his store, and the prices are fantastic. What more could you possibly ask for?

Single best place to get fruit and veggies in central ma. If you've been buying yours at a…read moresupermarket all these years you have no idea what you're missing. Fresh high quality produce and an amazing selection for such a small place. If they don't have it you don't want it. We've all grown up on mediocre fruits and vegetables because supermarkets buy it out of season and ship stuff in. Fruit for example is never benefited from being refrigerated and it retards the growth period making a mediocre product. Give this place a try, not only is it delicious, the prices are better than supermarkets. I'm here at least twice a week.

Applepickung has become the thing to do in Central Massachusetts in the fall and we've been to all…read morethe places ... Honeypot Hill (overcrowded) ... Nashoba Winery (You need a ticket, or they sell out. Apples are sparse and often need to be picked off the ground as there are none on the trees) ... Red Apple Farms (Our favorite for scenery but the apples aren't great) ... Bolton Farm (climbing up a steep hill with a bag full of apples) ... etc. Tougas is billed, by them, as the number one apple picking location in the country. Given the crowds, I can see why. You'd be best off going during the week because during the weekend, it's more crowded than Disney World. They have an outdoor food court with tables ... and the food is super pricey and super mediocre. Maybe below mediocre ... my $12 cheeseburger didn't even taste like meat. It had the consistency of a brown sponge soaked in grease. The pulled pork was surprisingly tasty ... but not the fresh type of BBQ you'd expect. More like something from a container brought home from the grocery store. The drinks are also crazy expensive. $9 for a draft beer ... and they leave 1/8th of the cup empty. I paid $36 for 3 beers after tax and asked if they would actually fill the beer up all the way. The server refused saying that the owner doesn't let them because if beer spilled out during pouring from the draft, that is wasted beer. So, instead they fill it 1/8th up ... and essentially save a'phantom beer' after pouring 8 beers. Pretty shitty. Beyond that, to charge an extra $2 for a sugar rim and an extra $4 for a single (stale) cider donut as garnish ... also shitty. Everywhere else does a sugar rim on a pumpkin beer in the fall for free. I am surprised they don't charge for ketchup and mustard for the food. Cheapskates. The apple orchard itself is nice. You get a 4 minute wagon ride included with a bag of apples. Here's the kicker though ... each $36 small bag of apples includes only 3 people in the orchard. It's $10 per person for extra people!!! If you buy the larger bag for $50, you get 5 people. The small bag holds about 15 medium-sized apples. That's pretty slimy making people pay extra if they want to bring 2 parents, two kids and grandparents. The orchard itself is not as picturesque as some of the other ones. This has young grafted trees, about 9 feet tall. Not really trees but thin sapplings modified to grow tons of fruit. The good thing is you won't have much trouble getting to the top. The bad thing is it feels more like walking through apple hedges than an apple orchard with real trees. Having said that, as of the first weekend in October, there were still lots of varieties of apples and plenty on the trees. The apples do taste good ... not the best we've had but not the worst. The trees are well marked and it's fairly easy to fill a bag up and we enjoyed every variety we tried. They do a good job of controlling the crowds ... you don't have to wait for than 20 minutes for a wagon ride to the orchard. There is a big petting zoo. The food does take a long time if there are crowds. (We waited 40 minutes peak season). I will say that they need to redesign the store. At the back of the store is a counter which serves ice cream and deli sandwiches. The line stretches outside of the building and wraps around. This makes it impossible to get into the store to browse. Overall, you probably won't hate your time here ... unless you really dislike crowds. Imagine Disney on school vacation week and that's what weekends here feel like. It feels more like a theme park or fair ... It doesn't have the homey and orchard-y feel that a lot of other places do. If you want more of a traditional apple picking experience in an orchard, I'd stay with some of the smaller spots in the area. If you want more scenery and foliage, Nashoba is your best bet. If you want a full day experience with a pumpkin patch, apple picking, wagon rides, food court, petting zoo, etc. this is crowded but some people might like that feel. Also, they have the best variety and don't run out as soon as smaller orchards due to the size of the property. Just make sure you save your money ... a bag of apples, lunch and a drink or two will set you back $200+.

His manager came out and told me that the corn on the cob, the zucchini, and the pickling cucumbers were grown locally. I bought two of reach to take on my flight back to Florida. Usually I get a box of Italian pastry to bring home but this was even better. I was going to pickle the cukes, but after trying a slice, they were too good to pickle. I had one sliced with organic ranch dressing from Whole Foods. I boiled the fresh corn to go along with barbecue chicken and sautéed and zucchini with butter, garlic and usual seasoning. This stand is the same as I remember it as a child. It's clean and organized. They have the plenty of staff to keep the selection of fruits and vegetables fresh. I will be back soon.

It's not just a maze; it's a test of will and a challenge to your sense of direction. I'm pretty sure I saw a family celebrating their one-year maze-iversary in there. I emerged an hour later, a different man, covered in bits of corn stalk and existential dread. And the pumpkins? They're magnificent. I didn't just pick one; I was chosen. We locked eyes across the field, a giant, warty gourd and I. It was a moment of pure, unadulterated connection. I paid the very reasonable price and felt a sense of pride that I haven't experienced since I successfully parallel parked on the first try. In conclusion, S&S Farm is more than just a farm stand. It's a hilarious, humbling, and slightly muddy adventure. 10/10, would get lost in a corn maze again.

I inquired about if they were organic bc there is a sign that says hormone free etc, she just blandly said no bc they give their cows grain, and that was the end of that. They have good products but it's hard to support local farms when the people working there seem to not give a shit about the people walking in the door. Number one rule of sales: sell the company, sell yourself, sell the product. She didn't do any of these things. The eggnog is pretty good, really thick, I like it.
