How can you not love the Brookfield Orchards?! They have such a variety of offerings, beautiful grounds, and some really fun events just about every weekend in the nice weather. We go to the "Let's get local" event at the end of the summer and it's just such a fun time. For a few dollars you can also take a tractor drawn hay wagon for a tour of the property and the rows and rows of apple treees! I'm blessed to live to close. This cute old orchard, gift shop, local shop (soaps, honey, sauces, fudge...) and antique shop was great. They have canned sparkling cider to buy there, buy a case! I regret only grabbing one! There were no pick your own apples, but you could get pre-picked apples and put them in a bag to purchase. I got overcharged - bought 1 peck and charged for 1 and .5 pecks, they said there was nothing they could do. Employees were walking around, but were not interested in helping people, or pointing people in the right direction. The apple cider donuts were good - and thankfully I was able to get a hot bag, but the employee was frustrated that I asked if there were any hot apple cider donuts. And while the donuts were good, it was odd to see there were a bunch of artificial colors in the ingredients. My Father has taken me To Brookfield orchard since I was a little girl. He had passed in 2006 but I continued to come and since then I had gotten married and had kids of my own so it's been For over 40 years now that I've come here! I now take my boys here every year. And I plan on continuing the tradition with them. Fond memories of penny candy, and apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream. And the merry -go-round and swings and those super fast and hot slides rofl. The beauty of the orchard and of course the tasty apples! They have their own cheese and fresh baked goods including different sized trays of their always good apple pie dumplings that you can buy to go or you can go to the building outside for refreshments and sit at the picnic tables. But be warned, the yellow jackets are everywhere. They don't tend to sting unless they have been irritated but it's hard to sit still when they are crawling on your foot or drink. Though I don't mind sharing, this isn't what I had in mind. But that's nature. You can always escape to your car to finish your refreshment s and head back out to check out their gift shop or antiques area! It's also a beautiful walk on the road at the orchard as well with gorgeous views of sunset and apple trees just before closing. They of course have many events for the public like book fairs, and festivals of all kinds so it's wise to follow their Facebook page! Brookfield orchard has been a family owned and operated business since 1918! I hope they continue to get the support they need to stay open. It truly is a nice place to go to spend a couple of hours and support a small business. Be sure to leave with some tasty apples, apple cider and those amazing apple dumplings! We visited this place on a Saturday and it was okay. We were a little disappointed. The building mostly consists of an antique shop with a large selection of candy. You can fill bags of apples and buy cider that is pressed by another orchard. No apple picking this year due to issues with frost earlier in the year - not at all their fault and we knew that before we went. They advertised 'pick your own pumpkins' on their website, but it's not a pumpkin patch. It's a scattering of pumpkins in the grass provided by another farm. Our toddler was happy with it though I was hoping for an actual pumpkin patch. They have swings for both babies and older kids, some slides, a see-saw, a big sandbox area with trucks, and a roundabout. There are also a couple of cut outs you can put your face in. I was really looking forward to apple cider donuts, which they had 6 for $6. Didn't notice until after I bought them that their ingredients list includes soybean oil, artificial flavors and Yellow food coloring. That made me really sad. I would not have bought them if I had seen this. I expected more traditional ingredients for a small town farm that touts fresh baked goods. read more

I grew up coming to this orchard for the penny candy, apple dumplings and the play ground. The group of people who have run this Orchard are what made me come back as an adult and raised my children on this playground, picked our apples here, shared dumplings between us and yes, always the penny candy. Jams that came years later, honey combs and the fun treasure trove of a small indoor "yard sale". And who can remember the haunted maze inside all those years ago??? What a fun day! We are rolling in apples now. We got Macintosh, Empire, and Cortland. The cider donuts were delicious, hot and coated in cinnamon sugar. Fun rock band, hay ride (not horse drawn), face painting, antique type of gift shop selling homemade pumpkin bread etc. We got a loaf with raisins-- it's so great warmed a bit with a cuppa tea. read more

Great local orchard that has stayed true to their routes over the many years! They have a good amount of trees to pick from. They also have tons of apples fresh picked that day for sale in their store. Their store has some baked goods, apple cider, antiques and gifts. Went there on Sunday. it's their one hundredth anniversary. if you like country music ,food ,apples ,you will be please d and they have a great gift shop that has antiques baked goods apple pie etc. outside they have kettle corn fresh squeeze lemonade a great playground for the kids and of course pick your own apples they are 24 dollars for half bushel,13 for a quarter bushel .and you can eat all u want while pickin. on the weekends they have country music outside tractor rides it's a good fun way to spend a weekend day , if you go visit the snack shop outside and have a hot apple dumpling with French vanilla ice cream on it... only thing you can say is Yum. I have been visiting Brookfield Orchards since I was a child. The Farm Stand has a variety of items, so fun to stroll around. Additionally, they have fresh baked items, the apple turnovers are especially good. The orchards are large and great for picking. I have found that commercially produced apples, sold in the grocery story can be difficult to digest. I assume it is from all the chemicals used. But the Brookfield Orchard apples are consistently delicious and easy to digest. Wonderful, family friendly orchard! read more

Brookfield Orchard is the place where by all other apple orchards are judged by. The orchard itself is pretty expansive, lots of different types of apple and generally speaking, (as someone who has an irrational fear of rotten fruit) pretty clean. There's fresh hot apple dumplings (with cheddar cheese [!!!] or vanilla ice cream, if the mood suits you) and kettle corn. There's an awesome shop where you can purchase dumplings and pies and jams and jellies to take home. AND AND AND! Penny Candy! Watch out, youngsters, I am coming for that bucket of Cry Babies. I love the antique shop and have found/purchased many a great item there. (Vintage Cetics jacket? Yes, please. Random ship wheel? Done deal.) All around Brookfield is the best! I've been going here since I was a kid. Very well maintained orchard and a fun time for all. If you want to pick your own you can purchase a small bag for $10 or a large bag for $20. They've got great mac and cortland trees and a few others. There's an old playground on the property for the kids. Good old fashioned metal swings, slides and a roundabout; none of that safe plastic crap. The snack bar is great too! I always get an apple dumpling with a scoop of ice cream on top. There's also hot dogs, cider and PB&J's to munch on. Don't forget to check out the penny candy/taxidermy room. Although nowadays it's more like 5-55 cent candy, it's still fun! There's a wide arrange of jellies, jams, condiments and other goodies to browse. read more

We came here relatively early in the season (8-25-2013), so there were only paula reds to pick. However, there were certainly plenty of them! The orchard was clean and all staff we encountered were friendly. There was also a country store and antique shop that sold all kinds of knick knacks. There were pre-picked apples and pre- home-baked goods if you didn't want to have the fun yourself. You purchase a bag and then go straight to the orchard (1 peck bag = $10, which held, for us, 37 apples! Good deal if you ask me). We will definitely be back later in the season for some other varieties. A+ from us! read more

Great prices on pick your own but I would highly recommend staying away from their famous apple dumplings or baked goods . No flavor what so ever , extremely disappointed . $6 for an apple lightly dusted with sugar/ cinnamon wrapped in crust and dunkin donuts grade apple cider . Ice cream was also freezer burnt . My favorite apple orchard, and I go to a lot of them. Like many reviewers I've been going there for all the 45 years of my life. There are something like 4 current generations working on this orchard farm and it feels very much like a family run business - simple yet unique and fun. They greet you with a smile and if you come regularly they get to know you. I love their Empire apples, they are some of the best I've had. Their apple dumplings and pies are wonderful. Went to Brookfield Orchards on 8-14 and they had bags marked early macs. We purchased a bag and the apples were terrible. They were clearly taken out of the storage cooler and placed out for sale for the tour bus that just pulled up. The apples were mealy and bruised. I will now only buy apples that we pick. read more

Seems like a lovely orchard, and the landscapes are beautiful. I was disappointed in the offerings at the indoor cafe. The hot apple cider was overly sweetened and felt watered down. I'm not used to sugar being added to apple cider at all, and certainly not water. Cider donuts are pre-packed and not sold fresh. read more

Love this place! Went here today for the first time in years and had a great time. It's a very inexpensive outing for a family (only $10 for a small bag of pick your own apples- no parking or admit fees) and just a fun, fall day.
