I just really desperately want the 308 to find their groove with the food, and then stay consistent! It's such a staple to our neighborhood, but remains disappointing at times. My girlfriend and I went out for music bingo last night. We had a great time, the atmosphere was fantastic and the energy is amazing. However, the apps we odd we're just not good! Well over cooked chicken tenders for starters. They appeared to be double fried, like they got tossed back in for a warm up or something. They were so dry and so extra crispy. The chicken quesadilla was a little better but still only finished two of the four slices. Oh well, we don't go for the food though. At one time you were Great ( First opened) then it seems to have changed more and more. We stoped in March thought we'd have some Irish food. That turned out horrible. Food took forever and did not taste good at all. Then we saw you had a new Chef hoped things would be better. Maybe a new Menu. So we stopped by Sunday for dinner. But once again. Menu hadn't changed much. Just gotten more expensive. we both ordered salads. Now mine was ok (chicken was on the dry side) but needed to get extra salad dressing to fix that. But my wife salad was just romaine lettuce And & Samon. And it had no Salad Dressing on it and it was dry. Had to ask for salad dressing. On top of it. so in short $52. For two salads, ice tea, and one beer. Very disappointing and expensive. Don't know if we will ever return with those prices. Too bad Used to be a favorite place to go. read more

My Server Vanessa was Wonderful. She was very Friendly and Attentive. She took my order in a timely manner. The Steak Tips, Mashed Potatoes and Coleslaw were delicious and filling. A friend and I decided to get dinner here during a trip. It's the first place I've been to in awhile that requires an advance reservation, but that's how it is when the place is popular. The portions were generous and there was no room for dessert, which I probably could have planned better for. The views of the lake were pretty good, and something different from the rest of the area. The only downside to the place is that is was pretty loud. Maybe this is the norm on a Saturday, but it was difficult to hold a conversation. read more

We had dinner there last Friday night. I had baked fish which was okay good portion and salad okay. My husband had pan seared scallops on risotto which wasn't very good. The scallops seemed baked not pan seared and the risotto wasn't very good. He ordered a glass of wine and had two. The portion was very generous and the price was good $7.00. We have had dinner there a year ago and had a good experience. Maybe things will change if people rate their experience. read more

Was in town recently & some friends recommended this place for a casual dinner. Food is mediocre. I had high hopes since reviews looked promising but overall it was bland and tough. Service is okay. Manager needs some work on her attitude. Hosts were nice. Servers were fine. Do not -- for the love of god -- get their steak tips. Probably wouldn't visit again. Also the parking situation is awful. My daughter made a reservation for my birthday dinner. She requested that we have outdoor seating and away from the live band. Upon our arrival the manager was there up front with the host. Neither one acknowledged us. We stood there for a few minutes before they acknowledged us. We informed her we had a reservation and her tone was extremely unpleasant. I should have taken that as a sign to leave when you're being greeted by the manager that way. They then told us they can sit us indoors in the corner. We just went ahead and agreed because it took us 1.5 hours to get to this restaurant. When the host told us she would sit us, the table was dirty and not wiped down. She then stated she will have someone wipe it down. The tables and chairs were old and cheap. It seems like we were sitting in a small sub shop in the ghetto. I still gave it the benefit of the doubt. When placing our drink orders the server was quick to dismiss us, did not even let us finish our sentence... it just seemed like she was in a rush. The server was also not very attentive. We only saw her when she took our orders and that was it. We ordered the calamari and it had no flavor and it was soggy. The fries were overcooked and as hard as a rock. Our entrees were the steak Gorgonzola, prime rib, chicken Marsala and chicken milenase. The steak Gorgonzola had no flavor. It was very bland, the sauce was very clumpy, and the steak was extremely tough. The prime rib was so tough - my husband had a hard time cutting through it. It was dry and no au-jus was provided. The Cole slaw was bland and very watery. The chicken Marsala had no flavor, the pasta was dry. The chicken milenase was okay. I was so disappointed because the food looked decent - but it was far from that. Overall... the food was not good. It would be a 1/10. The drinks (308 bowl) were watered down and the berry coolatta was all ice (tasted like tap water) The windows were dirty, full of spider webs and it looked like it's never been cleaned, the chairs were uncomfortable, the restaurant was loud (live band didn't start yet) and the workers all looked so unprofessional. They were in booty shorts, showing their inappropriate basement thigh tattoos -- and the list goes on. They did not even try to accommodate to any of our requests when the reservation was made. Oh, and the best part... they set up the live band 1 table away from us as we were eating. We ended up asking for the check and left. We couldn't even finish our meal. It's unfortunate and extra disappointing. We ended up going out to eat at a different restaurant. Overall, it was an unpleasant experience. I would never go back. read more

It pains me not to give this place 4 or 5 stars. The view is beautiful , the outdoor seating is amazing, the food is pretty good. The problem I have is the service is hit or miss. We went today and were ignored for a few minutes by the bartender who was sitting on a cooler talking to another guest. I've been here before and had to leave because nobody came to take my order. Other times the service was great. I will continue to go here because they have docks for my boat after a day of fishing, but my expectations are not very high. read more

Came here with my friend last night and had a nice time! We made a reservation for 5:15 but still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated which I thought was a bit odd, but we were able to order a drink at the bar. We then were seated downstairs in their outside dining area with a beautiful view of the lake. The weather was perfect and had a great view of the water and sunset. The service was pretty slow, but it was a busy Sunday night. Our waiter was good at keeping our drinks full but the food itself took a while to come out and we did not have complex orders. The food itself was just okay. Maybe it was what I ordered, chicken tenders, that didn't do much for me. We got nachos that were decent. They have a lot of seafood options but unfortunately I'm not a fan of seafood. The view was definitely the highlight of this restaurant and I'll probably come back, especially since it's halfway between where my friend and I live. read more

Very spectacular service. I ordered the Thursday special of shrimp primavera, and it tasted like spring. It was bland but I dig that because it wasn't salty and heavy at all. (I'm on a new eating habit! hahaha) My fiancé got the French sandwich, and that was good! My mom got the fish and chips. We went during the nighttime, so there wasn't much of a view of the lake, but we will probably try again in the afternoon/day time! I'm giving 4 stars because there aren't many restaurants around this area, so I highly recommend! They also don't fry everything and douse their products in cheese to make up for poor flavor, as expected from many American restaurants, so I'll definitely go there again if I'm in town. read more

What a great place to come, Ethan always greets you with a friendly smile, and tonight we came with my elderly mother-in-law, he asked us if we had a preference on where to sit, and when I said someplace without a lot of noise he placed us in a comfortable spot! Waitresses are always friendly (Vanessa was terrific) and also with great food and reasonable prices! Bonus..when it's warmer weather and you're able to go outside and enjoy the patio. read more

What a nice place to stop at while going for an afternoon drive. Took my grandmother out for a drive and lunch after I got out of my night shift, haven't eaten anything since 3:30am. No rhyme or reason why I drove out this way, wanted to go somewhere different and quiet. In the past I have always been fascinated with this lake and when I was close enough to jump on yelp to see what was around 308 popped up and I was sold. Lovely view of the lake on a mid-afternoon winter day. Would have loved to had my ice skates and jumped on one of the rinks! The interior has lovely nautical shades of blues and browns, makes the white trim stand out that much more with the sun hitting it. We both ordered chowder and fish & chips (beer battered). The chowder was creamy and the fish was spot on. Chowder could have been thicker (my personal preference) and the fish could have used a bit of flavor other than the lemon. None the less we are both stuffed! I skipped desert, going sweetless this month to reduce the extra sugar from the holiday season. read more

I was honestly skeptical by the other reviews but by my experience, you can't always rely on reviews, you just have to try it out yourself. My family and I went for lunch around noontime today and the service and food was great! Emmy was our waitress and she was extremely attentive and efficient. I got the baked haddock, it was perfectly cooked and extremely fresh. My toddler shared some of my mother's meatloaf (so naturally I HAD to taste) and it was delicious and he ate his portion with mashed potatoes and gravy without a fuss! Now THAT's saying something. The view was incredibly gorgeous and the atmosphere was calm and beautifully decorated for the holidays. We will definitely be coming back in the future. read more

A group of us went to the 308 On sun for Your "Irish Dinners. Two of us ordered the Corned beef Dinners & Two ordered the Guinness Stew with Puff Pastry. 1- the Corned beef wasn't event Hot & Tough. , The Cabbage, Potatoes and carrots was hard as a Rock & On the Cold side even the butter wouldn't melt 2- The Guinness Irish Stew with puff pastry. Was not that good For hey didn't eat it. And the puff pastry was a Tiny piece of pastry in the shape of A Clover ? Now when I read A Stew with Puff pastry I'm thinking of it looking like a Pot pie puff pastry covering. I could be off here but not a piece of pastry. The Margaritas tasted like Seltzer water with a lime in it. Service was a little long but it was A busy day so I'll give it that. All in all it was a $70.00 waste of Money dinner & Time. What's sad is it used to be A good restaurant. Its saving grace was the Water view. Too bad really wanted a Good Irish dinner. read more

My sister and her husband had their wedding reception in the banquet room off to the right when you enter. First of all, what a beautiful view of the lake. And beautiful windows! I was very disappointed today with the meal I was served at 308 Lakeside. The roast beef sandwich I ordered was inedible, and potentially dangerous to consume. The roast beef itself was grey all the way through, very dry and smelled "off". Aside from that, there was very little sauce/spread put on the sandwich, which would make it dry whether the meat was bad or not. On a side note, beverages were served in plastic cups because the dishwasher wasn't working. I have always enjoyed my visits to this restaurant in the past, and am hoping today's experience was anomalous and will be addressed in the kitchen. read more

Was checking out the yelp contemplating a return and was sorry to see a recent negative review over the restaurant's understandable inability to reserve parking spots. Since the owner likes to respond: you did not address the issue of the large party being seated together at tables next to each other with too many people far too close to us breaking regulations. No one came to the table to check on us after that large party was seated again far too close together breaking the every other table and limited capacity regulations. I became instantly uncomfortable because if they're willing to break or bend the seating regulations for a large party what other regulations are they breaking? Someone may have tried to come speak to my husband but I was not there. As I said I waited in the car. He doesn't recall anyone coming to speak to us after I left. He does recall someone asking about our food before the party was seated. No one else's night needed to be ruined by anyone causing a scene in the restaurant because they wanted to accommodate a large party that was going to spend much more than the two of us. I'm not sure if they insisted and the restaurant acquiesced but I frankly don't care what happened I care that the regulations were not adhered to. It would have been nice to have been offered a seat further away before they even sat down; but that large party never should have been seated as close to us as they were to begin with. This ruined our night in more ways than one. We will not be back; we're regulars who enjoyed the deck in the summer; but I'm just not willing to overlook this particular incident. My Dad & I love this place. He resides at The Overlook and I come down from NH at least once a month to visit and we often have lunch here. He turns 95 this week and I wanted to take him there for a birthday lunch, just 3 people in the party. We all know that parking is tight here. I called ahead to see if they could reserve ONE parking spot for us since it is a special occasion and we love the food and the venue. The answer was NO. The best chicken parmigiana I've ever had. Everywhere else it's either oily, watery or too much bread, but this was just right. Paired with an apple salad and house vinaigrette, it was just perfection. The service was excellent! The place is situated right by the lake so the view is stunning.
