OMG! This very cozy barbecue place had the most delicious barbecue fall off the bone ribs. It was really good.!! And the brisket was to die for absolutely tender, juicy and delicious. I am really delighted to come here with and the owner was incredibly warm and welcoming, and I loved her. Very nice sides that came with our meal which included corn bread, beans, potato salad, and crispy delicious sweet potato fries. This is a must. I'm telling you you want to have the best ribs in Worcester come here seems to be a very popular place amongst young people from high school and the Neighbourhood seems to do quite well for takeout. Had an amazing first time experience at West Side Steak & BBQ ! The owner, Elaine, was so kind and welcoming she made us feel like VIPs. Food: Everything was to die for. The wings are smoked then fried. We tried the hot/buffalo, sweet chili, and Cajun and everyone at the table had a favorite. The ribs were incredible - tender, fall off the bone, with a delicious homemade BBQ sauce. Pulled pork combo and brisket combo let us try a little bit of everything. We also had the chili, which was a huge portion and very flavorful. Elaine said summer is their busiest season and things can be slow in the winter. Let's support Elaine year round. Food: we got the half pound brisket and half pound pulled pork dinner which also came with at least two sides. Everything was absolutely delicious. The meats were tender and flavorful. Nothing was dry. I like how the potato salad is an overly salted but you can taste the eggs and the potatoes pretty well. The cornbread is not as sweet and you can taste the corn milk, but it's also not too dry. Service: our server was great made sure that we had everything in our meals. Ambiance: it's a very tiny almost like antique restaurant that's filled with perhaps at max 15 seats. It gives a very old-fashioned western family vibe with the dim lights Location accommodation: there is outdoor seating when the weather is applicable, and parking is usually on the side. More like a 3.8 though but I'm mainly judging JUST the BBQ options. Lot's of options here. Taco's, Steaks, Burritos, but I went for just the good old BBQ stuff. First impressions; Tiny place in an alright part of town. Area is like the last part of Urban Worcester you see right before you get into the woods of Paxton or whatever town is right to the north west of the city. No parking, but you just gotta find a spot on the side of the street, we were lucky. Super friendly lady working there taking care of everything! it seemed like. BYOB apparently, beer store right next door but they do have a cooler with some water and teas and Jarritos soda. Ok! Got the "West Side Regular Combo" just a few ribs, 2 wings,2 mini pulled pork slider (but she calls it a sandwich), she was nice enough to give me 1 Brisket slider and 1 pork instead so I could try it. Ordered up the Sides! Beans, Coleslaw, Rice and Beans, and a Cornbread. They got French fries and Sweet Potato Fries, Baked Potato and veggies for other side options. Partner grabbed some Cajun chicken breast. First, RIBS! Ok to be honest, not that great. Thin, not a lot of meat, a lot of other stuff going on inside (bits of bone where they shouldn't be, broken bone, cartilage, tendons, that stuff) I know that should be expected, it is meat. Just too much of it. Tender enough to peel the meat away with a fork though. But flavor was so so. had to dip the meat in the extra sauce which I usually Hate doing but their sauce is quite good. Wings! These are whole fried wings, they make that "N" or "Z" shape. Didn't know they were going to be friend but whatever. Again not much meat, kinda tough, sauce becomes kinda obscure when there aint much to the wing, but it was fine I guess. Brisket was super tender and juicy, almost just the right feeling I want in my mouth for Brisket, can't say much about a flavor though unfortunately. Pulled pork was pretty good, slow cooked in some form of sauce, it's always hard to tell. It's the pulled pork you want on a sandwich though, not the pulled pork you'd want as a scoop of it on a platter. This was very soft and stringy and full of flavor. Not to mention the cute little buns these sandwiches are made with are very scrumptious. Perfect for this type of meat. Chicken breast with the Cajun seasoning ... alright, chicken was grilled and came out great, the Seasoning though! Almost straight up chili powder. I know there aint no official ruling on what Cajun spice really is or can be but this was like eating hot sauce after the first 2 bites. Quality of the chicken was good, seasoning looked amazing, if you love the hot stuff this should work for you. Sides! Baked Beans looked great, texture was Spot on, little chunks of brisket or pork or bacon or somethin, flavor left something to be desired a bit but overall they were good. Coleslaw was Yums! Mayo based, not always my fav, but had a distinctive pineapple taste to it and what I think were Carroway seeds that gave it a fun little zing to the after taste! Rice and Beans! I know it's probably the most simple thing to make in the world but where has it been my whole life. Rice and Red beans So good. Corn Bread tasted great, I want to say it was just from a store bought mix because of how sweet it is but I don't want to assume too much. Little tiny muffin cup sizes. I've passed this place so many times and always planned to try it at some point, I love BBQ and my kiddies do too... The BBQ half chicken was fresh and delicious, sauce was tasty,.. Cornbread was ok, cheese fries were ok, fries nice and crispy like I like, but not a lot of cheese... side veggie of sautéed zucchini and summer squash was tasty and fresh. What a lucky find. I can only speak to the items I ordered since this was my first visit. We did take out on 4/14/19. First, the place is tiny. But I'll get back to that. My son and I had the 1/2 rack dinner. The ribs were just about perfect. They were smoky with a nice ring. And, oh boy, were they tender. Beautiful color and shrink to the meat. Just a little bone showing. All the better to grab you with, my dear. I just wanted the top fat to be rendered out a touch more, but it wasn't huge. The sauce was wonderfully simple. Vinegar, tomato, smoke, some sweet, some nice volatile seasoning and just a touch of burn. And a nice sexy red. Cornbread. Let me tell you about their cornbread. I'm used to dry crumby cornbread made only as a secondary consideration. I'm used to leaving it on the plate. Not here. Nice and moist and sweet. My only problem was I wanted more. And coleslaw. I am used to taking a bite and leaving the rest behind. Nope. This was nice and fresh. Good crunch on the cabbage. Not overdressed, not oversweet or over thick. A nice light coating with sweet and acid and seasonings. This was worth eating.....and finishing. Onion rings, pretty good. Probably would have been awesome if we ate in. Fried foods never hold up to transport. But, that's my fault. One thing I thought was cool...I called it in way before I was able to get it. I told them when I'd be there, and it was hot and ready. So, back to the space. It's really small, but neatly so. I'd have a problem if it was bad food, but this just adds to the charm. It's a cozy warm place. Next time, I'll bring someone and sit in. And the young lady working the counter and phone was wonderfully charming, always a plus wherever you go. There are a couple other places around but not many offering ribs like these. I could go see the guy with places in Marlboro and Framingham, but that stuff has become tostandardized and lazy. He's too busy building a chain to ensure good stuff. West side is doing it right. My husband and I visited Westside for the first time tonight. We split the combo with brisket and some fries. It was delicious food. The brisket was tender and moist, the wings were HUGE (whole wings), and the ribs were St. Louis style and fall off the bone tender. We got the sweet chili flavor for the wings and it wasn't what we expected relative to other restaurants, but it was very tasty. Our server was Ellaine and she was nice and attentive. I had made a comment about the price of the wings to my husband, because they looked expensive, and Ellaine heard me and let us know they were big wings. You get the entire wing, including the tip. Well worth the price. Ellaine also let us know we could bring our own alcohol from the store next door or our house, so we'll be bringing a bottle of wine next time. My only suggestion would be to add a note on what you get with the wings because that almost made me want to leave until I knew they were big wings. Now that I know you get the entire wing, I think it's fair price. We will definitely be going back to help keep this place in business! read more

The brisket melted in my mouth - SO GOOD! 3 the BBQ sauce was also very delicious! Not too sweet, not salty, and not too peppery or spicy. 4 the sweet potato fries were PERFECTION! Wow, got the 1/2 rack with baked beans and potatoe salad, potatoe skins and 2 sides of corn bread. I haven't had bbq this good since the last time I was down south, the baked beans were loaded with bacon and perfectly sweet, I will say the potatoe salad was lacking on something but was still good. The ribs, wow, the ribs were cooked perfectly and loaded with meat, the bbq sauce was sweet but not overly. You get nearly 2 whole potatoes with the potatoe skins and they were cooked perfectly, I got them with bacon. The only thing I didn't like was the corn bread, it was dry, but everything else was so good it didn't matter. read more

I was on my way back from Stockbridge and was searching for an easy takeout dinner between there and Boston. I stumbled upon West Side Steak & BBQ per a recommendation of a friend. First, if you can get anything from my post: it was a very warm environment and excellent food! One hundred percent I would go back. The person behind the counter was very friendly, welcoming and said hello as soon as I walked in. She was also patient and chatty. I ended up ordering the pulled pork sandwich and a side of coleslaw for takeout. They do not have indoor seating per COVID guidelines, but they did have outdoor seating available. As I was waiting (total time from entering to getting my food was only 20 minutes), I asked if I could fill up my water bottle from the tap. The person behind the counter said they did not have ice and I was welcome to fill my bottle but that said she didn't want to give me warm water. So instead she gave me two bottles of water from the fridge for free! It was from their staff supply and I felt very humbled. Of course I needed to use the restroom so I asked if she knew of any public restrooms available. She said that they had a staff restroom but did not know of a public restroom. I thanked her and said I would look around. Instead of just saying good luck, she actually asked her coworkers if I could use their staff restroom. After getting their permission, which I really respected, she cleaned the entire restroom before I used it! I was stunned, and truly did not need this. I was once again very humbled and thankful. Back to the food, it was amazing. Hands-down perfect flavors. The pulled pork was definitely not a dry BBQ but it had an amazing sauce. And anyone who knows me, knows I love coleslaw. Great little bbq place! We ordered the first combo plate, substituting pulled pork for the bbq chicken. It also came with a half rack of ribs and 4 sides, all for $24.99 which was a pretty sweet deal. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and pleasantly smokey. The amount of pulled pork was generous and the meat itself pretty good, although the bbq sauce was a little too much and too sweet for me. Both the french fries and sweet potato fries were awesome! I'm pretty sure they're the frozen kind but obviously, a good brand. The corn bread was actually a corn muffin, sweet and crumbly. And the potato salad was a much needed palate cleanser. So I just moved back to Massachusetts from down south and have had a craving for some real BBQ. Googled best BBQ near me and this place came up. I called them and spoke to a super patient woman on the phone that explained their menu and took my order. When I got to the establishment the customer service got even better. Super friendly staff. They brought me my meal to the car. The food was delicious. It is like a Texas BBQ and the sauce is so good. I got brisket, chicken, and ribs. She warned me about the kids loving the cornbread muffins and she was right. They tried to take mine. Everything was so good. Portions were OK but still worth it.
