Loved this stop! Don't be turned off by the parking situation, like I was at first - there's a free lot right across the street. I start with the Pear Pear Plane cocktail, SO YUMM! I really appreciate finding a restaurant that lets you customize burger toppings and has avocado available! The Fix is not only a wonderfully comprehensive burger place with everything you could imagine available as a topping, but a very entertaining menu as well. I ordered the I Hold Myself in Contempt mocktail, of prosecco, cherry syrup, pink London spirit, and lemonade which was delicious. The burger was hearty and delicious, really hitting the spot for a wonderful lunch. Not only is the menu amusing, but there are a couple very funny posters and artwork as well, one of which I was able to get a picture of. We finally made it back for a second visit! We were in the city for a football game and hamburgers sounded like a great idea after the game, thankfully I remembered this place. In the last few years this place has really gone downhill. The last few times I've gone someone in my group had a burger that was burned black, had cold fries, or something else went wrong... often at least two out of the three. Service is usually slow to the point that you're wondering half the time if you've been forgotten. Though it's always been loud so can't fault them there. This used to be a go-to place for us but they have really taken a nose dive. The past several times I've gone the burgers are hockey pucks, the food is mediocre, and the overall vibe is just not as good in there anymore. The last time I was there I got lunch takeout ($50 for two burgers, one with a side of poutine and one with chips) and it was terrible- burgers were significantly smaller and very overcooked, chips were essentially inedible they were so overcooked, the burger buns were soaking wet and I am not kidding. Soaking wet. I had to call and ask for a refund and they took care of it right away, that's why they got 2 stars. I won't be going back. I have now been to The Fix twice while I was in the area for work and have been super impressed both times. This unassuming burger joint has way more to it than it seems! Their menu is huge and fully customizable, which I LOVE. They have a ton of vegetarian options, and even offer burger salads if you'd prefer to skip the bun. I had their house veggie burger and a burger salad - both were amazing. We had great service both visits, and the ambiance is very chill (makes you want to hang out for a while). This is a very busy place on a Saturday! We stopped here along our road trip. We decided to sit at the bar as the wait was 30mins and we wanted to get back on the road. The restaurant itself is in what looks like old industrial buildings so it has a lot of character. The bar was full and it appeared there was only one bartender on. Took him quite a while to get to us. Once we ordered, our burgers came out rather quickly and to order. We got ours with some additional fixings and substituted the sesame bun for a brioche bun. The burger itself was delicious, juicy, cooked perfectly. The bun was dry. I ended up taking the bun off and using the steak knife that it came with to eat it as we couldn't get the bartender's attention to get silverware.
