I visited the store location on Cambridge St on Friday and it was a great experience. The woman at the counter was so pleasant and patient while I decided what to buy for lunch meats and meat counter. She freshly ground some pork while I waited which I totally appreciated! I ordered the imported Genoa salami and although it's different then the domestic Genoa it is a yummy difference. Well worth the extra money for imported. I remember years ago the restaurant being open on Shrewsbury st and that I loved the pasta sauce and was so happy to see quarts for sale. Tonight I warmed that up and the sweet Italian sausage and ... I'm in love. I'll define you be headed back for both. I was really excited to check out D'ERRICO'S market. When I entered it took a while but I was greeted by a butcher. The market is small and tight. Not ideal if you're a mom with a baby. They have two small baskets in the market. I'm glad I was able to snag one but it was too small to put items in the basket along with my baby's car seat. The butcher that took my package order was really rude dismissive and hurried me. It was my first time ordering and didn't know all they had so I couldn't select a substitute within like .3 seconds perhaps like regulars. I did like that they offered substitutions on their meat packages. As the butchers worked together to package my order I looked around the shop. Their produce looked great. I snagged some already peeled garlic. Very handy and a little pricey but I really don't like peeling garlic. They have a lot of GOYA products. They also had goat meat at a reasonable price for the amount compared to other places. When I purchased my meat I learned that the basket had to stay inside. So the cashier offered to bring my meats to my car while I carried my child. I thought that was very kind of her. I rate this place a three because the meat doesn't look the best compared to other places. The chicken and pork were gritty and took a lot of cleaning, plucking feathers etc before I could cook it. Also the chicken legs and thighs were astronomically large. It was scary. I just down for lol the extra hormones etc to make the chicken that big. We could tell when we cooked the meat. It didn't taste like fresh natural chicken. Also the ground beef looked a little concerning. We still haven't eaten it. The country runs just weren't my thing. Overall I won't be ordering meat from D'ERRICO'S anymore. I've since gone to Fairway Beef twice (check out the review). I'm very pleased with Fairway. The customer service the quality of meats. How helpful they were with helping me find the cut of steak I needed to cook what I wanted. Fairway doesn't have the produce or large grocery store like selection though. read more

Tonight was my first and last time picking up steak from this establishment and here is why in a few words... I am a regular at emerald meats and absolutely love them because in addition to being very close to my home the attendants are knowledgeable, kind and beyond else happy to help "hello mam" "can I get you anything else today miss" "have a wonderful weekend" TOP NOTCH customer service with a smile . They're on vacation this week and I decided to give another local shop a shot... Upon arriving I was acknowledged (saying greeted would be a gross over statement) by a middle aged guy behind the counter who had one head phone in and was massively less than enthusiastic I was there . I attempted to ask about a bone in ribeye which they didn't have .. ok boneless is fine then after weighing one steak I asked if there were any slightly larger as it was a portion for my boyfriend, Rather than checking he stated "they're all that size you want a second one" I stated no thanks and asked what type of marinade was on the steak kabobs, was it teriyaki, bbq ??? ... met by another blank stare... "it's our own stuff" ... ok can you give me a bit more to go on flavor wise ? "It's oily and it's been in it over night" ..... cool. I'll just take a 1/2 lb of sirloin tips then. At this point the other associate stepped right in and offered to take care of it. The first dude slapped a package down in front of me before walking away. Upon looking at the sticker I saw a $25 price tag and asked the helpful gentleman who was taking care of the tips what the price was so high which he replied "looks like he packed two steaks" I explained I didn't not want two I was just curious if another one was slightly larger. He apologized and fixed his coworkers mistake and was quite kind about it weighing several to make sure it was the largest left. He politely handed my my packages and I paid and left I haven't cooked my steak yet but the thing I value above all else as a public servant myself and a former server / bartender of a decade is customer service and as kind as the second man was I cannot shake the first punk with his headphone in who made me feel as though I was massively inconvenient for asking some questions on my first trip to a new location. I'm sure the steaks will be delicious but due to my first interaction I will not be returning. read more

I bought 3 large Italian grinders from the Leominster store. The woman helping me told me that she was taught how to make them. When we opened them at home- first they were not completely wrapped and fell open when taken out of the bag- then looking at sandwiches. Lettuce was a brown mush ; the tomatoes were so thin that they were just about shredded with 6 pieces across entire sandwich. And worst of all the meat was sooo thin you could see thru it and one piece of each layer across sandwich.- very sparsely!! And cheese was tasteless thin!! Cut provolone sparsely placed across entire sandwich- the worst Italian grinder. Very disappointing. read more

I've never gotten so sick off of meat in my life. This is due to poor handling of the food. Same pair of gloves to grab chicken, Hamburg, and pork. I ate the chicken last night got sick, tonight Hamburg and I got sick again. I will NEVER go back there. I'll stick to fairway. At least their meat is quality and also fair priced. So I'm about to write a glowing review for a little grocery I live 1350 miles away from...if that isn't a testament to how fantastic this place is, I don't know how else I can iterate how you need to drop what your doing and go to D'Erricos and get some Kabobs (and hell, grab a few other things, prices are good and there's a decent spread!) Upon walking in the door, my friend and I were greeted with a lovely display of meat and an attentive staff ready to assist us. We requested our kabobs, had the staff fish them out of their marinade and package them up, then continued to peruse the store. We picked up a few other fresh items, all reasonable priced and fresh. There was also an aisle of wine--for such a small storefront, they offered a wide variety. The real treat comes in to play when we arrived home and put the kabobs on the grill. The steak and chicken kabobs were divine (there's also a lamb kabob, but we didn't try that one). The steak one definitely has a vinegary taste, but that's right up my alley. Meat was tender and of high quality and the array of veggies made the kabob all the more delicious. Great service, great quality, reasonable prices--definitely worth a stop. read more

For my taste and pocket, there is only ONE place to get the highest quality meats and deli products at prices that are affordable - that's here at D'erricos. The staff is always friendly and professional. When I ask for a pound of something - that's what I get - exactly a pound - no more or less - and you can't get that at your local big box grocery store. From fresh olives and produce to fantastic sausages and lean beef, D'erricos is my only choice. Their bread selection (from nearby Widoff's) is excellent as are their premium (and huge) in-house sandwiches. This place is so worth the drive I have to take to get here . I grew up in Worcester , and remember going to Argentos and D'erricos with my mother . The meat packages so worth every penny , OMG the chicken so good . The staff always so friendly , and helpful , even during super busy times . If you want a special cut of meat better to call in advance however , being a small store they don't always have room for the storage . But they have ordered things for me in the past , I just tell them what date I will need it for . When I moved 45 minutes away I kept saying how much I missed the quality of their meats . So instead of missing it I now make the trek into Worcester at least monthly to get my fix . Plus they will cut your order right there as you wait , such as ribs , and chicken leg quarters they will split them for you . I used to shop here for years when I lived in Wormtown. I stopped in to buy Mom's Easter Cheese. IThe Easter Cheese was not the same that they used to sell for years. Service was spotty. It looked really worn and rather dirty. Not the place I recall from years past. read more

Great selection of authentic Italian products, meats, sandwiches, fish, etc. There are few places like this establishment left in MA - still family owned and operated, with an old world feel. My husband has been coming here since he was a kid and he says little has changed in 30 years - in the best way possible. It's certainly one of Worcester's gems. read more

A wonderful spot for fresh meat, and that imported mortadella with pisatchios is fantastic. Service is friendly , quick, and efficient. I love the feta cheese packed in the brine too. This place is the best meat market you will find in New England. Take it from us we drive from Manchester, NH to Derrico's every 2 weeks. It's good to know that with our family of 6 we can get meat packages at a fair price. Are you in a pinch this week? Buy a case of leg quarters at .99 lb or sometimes .89 lb. Which means we bought 40lbs of leg quarters cut up for 39 bucks. They'll ask u how u want it cut...without charging extra. If your still buying your meat at another butcher or supermarket...just stop. The butchers are friendly even around the 7pm hour! Yes they close at 8pm which makes are drive from NH to here easier! read more

Don't know people I often wonder who writes these reviews. I have shopped Fairway beef for years about 35 and lately the meats just are not that great. I paid top dollar for T Bones and also asked for a real good steak they said honeymoons . Well they both were chewy at best. So I decided to give D'errico's a try and we had the best T BONES we have had in a long time. Also bought a quart of their homemade sauce it was delicious. So NOT cool. My boyfriend and I went to D'errico's today to try to find a rather obscure cut of meat. The guy at the counter was, I'll put it mildly, a jerk. His answer to our question was just a flat out NO. He wouldn't give us any of his time to ask a question, and to boot, he laughed at us as we were leaving. I'm a big fan of D'errico's, mainly for their great selection of meat/poultry/pork but ESPECIALLY their meat packages. They are listed on their website and are so reasonably priced--we get the $62 option, which includes an assorted amount of hamburger, pork chops (on the bone and sliced thin!), chicken leg quarters (which they will break down at no extra charge), cube steak, stew beef and country ribs. I was particularly impressed with how meaty the chicken drumsticks are. Their grocery selection is great also, there's always deals on dried pastas and there's always wine sales. I do like that they have a small parking lot also since finding parking on Shrewsbury St can be a little tricky. read more

The Brazilian community has added many great products to the originally Italian market. this makes for a great combination of almost any ethnic recipe necessity, except, probably Asian..but Good Old Worcester has plenty of Asian markets, too.
