This place seems to be *the* hot-spot to cure your hangover on a Sunday morning. I came here for lunch on Sunday and saw almost every table full of people in sunglasses sipping on their Bloody Marys! I love coming here when it is warm and sunny out, because they have huge windows that open onto B-Rip Ave. I love it because it's the comfort of dining inside with the fresh air and people watching associated with dining outside. Get a table by the windows on a nice day if you can. Food here is slightly upgraded bar food. Good burgers, yummy chicken and a great beer selection. I ordered a breaded chicken sandwich here on Sunday and it was perfect. I've been in here with people that have ordered pizza and they've loved it as well. The service was also great. We looked like one of the few people not nursing our bad decisions from Saturday night, so our waitress was extra friendly. She kept my diet sodas with lime coming the whole time. I love not having to ask for a refill. All in all: This place is a great restaurant, but also a great bar. I'd come here on a Friday or Saturday when I wanted a laid back place to drink, talk and play cards. read more

I have been eating Union Jacks since I was a child and although I don't frequent there often I can say they are my favorite pizza spot in Indianapolis. Some may say their pizza prices are a bit steep but IT IS VERY WELL WORTH IT! Their deep dish pizza is to die for and can be taken home to ear for lunch and possibly dinner the next day. Whenever pizza is mentioned in Indianapolis is mentioned they are always on the top of my list! read more

It took me forever to finally go to Union Jacks, and I live in the Broad Ripple area. I wanted to, just never did. It's definitely the place to go in Broad Ripple to get an "pub" feel, esp. if you like to watch Futball (soccer). Since I do not like that, I don't care. What I do care about is pizza, and they have a great assortment of pies. Definitely the largest selection of styles of pizza I have seen in Indy. They feature Chicago-style, Stuffed pies, Malted NY thin crust and traditional. I have had the stuffed, thin and traditional crusts and they are all good. The selection of specialty pies are unusual and worth a look. I have had the Italian Pesto and Margherita the most, and yum. I can get a pit pricey, but go on Mon/Tues and they have specials. They have a very English beer selection, with a decent selection of mirco-brews as well. All in all, it iw worth the trip read more

My husband and I drive 2 hours from time to time just for the fish 'n chips! It is the best ever! Awesome little "English" pub.

Seriously the best fish and chips I have ever had in my entire life. I would highly recommend this place for both the food and drink. Atmosphere and service was amazing. read more

I knew I was going to like this place when I saw the Liverpool scarf in the pictures but I also had the opportunity to check this place out on a game day playing Tottenham with my friend who, unfortunately for him, was a Tottenham fan. It has a nice dark pub feel to the place and a great atmosphere for watching soccer. The open seating in the middle of the bar is plentiful even on game day and the windows open right up to let in the fresh air while the weather is nice. The service was good. The food and beers were inexpensive. If you are a beer drinker there was a nice craft selection although for today I stuck to a good ol' Guinness. For food I had a Cajun Chicken sandwich which was very nicely done. Simple, a little spicy with big fat French fries which are always a good thing. Fries were a small up charge though. Overall I'd come here for the soccer. I don't think it would keep me there for long after the game with such a selection of places in the neighborhood. read more

Great selection of food, and even better beer list. The staff is hands down my favorite. Perfect spot to watch a game!

We headed here for the brunch, served weekends from 10am-2pm. The place is a pub, so don't go expecting a charming, cozy, fou-fou, brunch atmosphere. The plus-side to this is that there was no wait and no pressure to leave because it's not like a line of people are waiting for your table. The breakfast side of the brunch menu is pretty limited and nothing too fancy - for example: eggs your way, served with hash browns and choice of toast/english muffin/buscuit ($5), make-your-own omelette ($8), breakfast burrito, oatmeal, etc. I did notice that there were no pancakes or french toast options, which seem like pretty standard breakfast/brunch options to be missing! They did hand us the full lunch/dinner menus as well, so I imagine all of that food would be an option if you wanted to go that route. Bloody Mary's were $4.50 and nicely garnished with a shrimp, celery stick, pickle, and olive. There's brunch right there! The service was fine, and they were accommodating to the little one we had in tow (another bonus about this place not being overly crowded, it's pretty kid-friendly). BOTTOM LINE: The casual pub atmosphere, fine service, and being not too busy make this a fine spot for a leisurely low-key brunch and place to bring the kids. However, the breakfast-y part of the brunch menu is rather limited, so if you're looking for lots of creative and different breakfast options, you may want to check out another spot. read more

Eeeeh. Little tiny lady behind the bar gave off such a bad vibe before I even sat down at the bar. She rudely said we are not serving food other than fried foods and pizza. Uh ok. Sat down and tried looking over the menu with my friend and everything we asked about she rudely replied. Food was ok. Although the pizza was good, not the best. Would not be returning because homegirl was rude. read more

This is a great soccer bar. I have been here a few times to watch games. The space is big enough to be able to play multiple games at the same time too. Service has always been pretty solid too. They have some nice beers on tap..a bit more european oriented. The menu is big too. Last time I went I had the pork tenderloin. It was massive and delicious. Plus Chelsea won that day so it was a good time! read more

Union Jack Pub - Queso and chips - Pizza Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

The only way that I can summarize Union Jacks is with a simple "meh." We got the pretzel sticks with queso as an appetizer. The pretzels were good, but I wasn't a fan of the queso. My boyfriend was excited about the personal pub pizza, however his excitement quickly dissipated upon eating it. It arrived with what seemed to be normal pepperoni application (with one random pepperoni on top?) despite him ordering double pepperoni. My California chicken wrap with coleslaw as the side was pretty average. The avocado was only at one end of the wrap, and there was a small serving of coleslaw. Overall, we thought Union Jacks was overpriced for the average taste. read more

While I don't live in Indy anymore, anytime I'm home to visit family or friends I try to make a visit or place an order for pizza to Union Jack's. This is the BEST Pizza I've had in Indianapolis, hands down. We normally get a regular 16" with the works on it and can't get enough. It's a nice atmosphere when you dine-in too, and their other food is good, but you can't pass on the pizza when you go there. read more

Service ok. It was empty but it was a Tuesday night. Great bar and pub seating area. Enjoyed my vegetarian, sloppy, spicy mushroom "burger" opted for pepper cheese to the blue. Love a grilled mushroom that's seasoned. That and a Strongbow was just right. Can't recall what dan had??? read more

You really can't say anything bad about this place. We've happily (well sad for our wallet) made this a go-to spot. Their tenderloins are huge and made to perfection. Their deep dish pizza is a whole unique experience, and well worth it! There is always a fútbol game on and that's part of the reason we love it. It's safe to say Union Jack's is what you love in a dive bar, but clean and even better food. The menu is very diverse, offering traditional comfort food in alternative ways. If you're in Broad Ripple and debating where to go, make Union Jack's a priority. read more

It took 30 minutes for our NY style thin crust pizza, which turned out to be neither crusty nor anywhere resembling a big apple pizza (given that we lived in the North East for a while). Instead we got a soggy concoction overwhelmed with cheese. Our salad had greens which were borderline rotten. Needless to say a waste of time, money and taste! read more

Our group of 4 has dined here several times recently and we've really enjoyed it. However tonight we noticed a $2 up charge for fries as a side. Maybe it's been there all along but that just makes it worse. It feels like they're trying to sneak a fast one there. Fries should be a standard side. I'm not aware of any potato blight going on and they aren't expensive. Is $2 a back breaker? No. But they did leave a bad taste in our mouths. read more

I have to say I'm very disappointed, tried it after some friends recommended I eat here. Let's just say I won't consider them friends anymore. I paid $11 for just the burger and $3 for the fries then another $3 for a drink. I'm surprised they didn't charge me for the catsup. read more

I want to start with the fact that I did have this delivered and my delivery was about 15-20 minutes late. This may have played into the fact that my food seemed to fall apart and was incredibly sloppy to eat. From the description of the item "wrap" and "in a tortilla" -- not ON a tortilla as my picture shows... I expected it in a burrito like fashion. However, it came flat and sliced up like a pizza. This was fine but there wasn't a single slice I picked up where seitan hadn't slipped off on to my box. Additionally, it says lettuce comes on it. Not one shred of lettuce was on mine. With all that said, I thought it tasted great especially the buffalo sauce but in the future will not have this delivered but will dine-in at the restaurant instead. :) read more

Ordered food during the pandemic. First off, the online ordering/pick up process was easy and efficient. The food was tasty and just what I was hoping to receive. We had burgers, mozzarella sticks, fries, and chicken fingers. The chicken fingers were particularly good! We cannot wait to visit Union Jack when we can dine inside the restaurant. read more

The Union Jack food truck came to the Meadful Things and Outciders Festival. I ordered a BBQ Pulled Pork Nachos, and after ordering waited 35 minutes to get them. To top it all off, the pulled pork was cold! Whoever was taking orders did not take names, which did not seem very efficient for when that person's food was ready. read more

Very good pub! Really enjoy the English pub atmosphere, which is heavy on soccer theme. Better and larger menu than most pubs. I had the Spicy Italian sandwich today, which I highly recommend. As a pub, it's probably 4-5 stars. However, in my book, very tough for a pub to legitimately get higher than 3 stars when compared to other restaurants. Service here was very good on our visit. Give this place a try! read more

Ventured out to Broad Ripple on a nice Sunday late afternoon. I've frequented the Union Jack on the west side many times since it's in my neighborhood. When set asked someone who worked here if it were similar and they said yes but different owners. Order the bacon & cheese fries with ranch. They were definitely over seasoned. Order two orders of fish and chips. The fish was more breading than actual meat and the fries were over seasoned again. The coleslaw was tasty but that's probably the only thing in my meal I enjoyed. My fiancé and I couldn't even finish because of over seasoned everything was. Disappointed in the food at this location. The service was definitely great. Syndey took care of us and her personality was amazing! Don't know that we will be back for food but possibly beverages since it's in the heart of broad ripple. read more

I went to dinner here on a Monday night with my friend Amanda. I was born in England, so I wanted to see what a local English pub had to offer. The inside is fantastic. The walls are covered in British memorabilia of all sizes, types, backgrounds, mediums, and consistencies. I could spend hours looking at everything on the walls. We sat down and were quickly intercepted by a waiter. He classically asked us for our drinks orders, and we both ordered pints of draft Bell's Two Hearted Ale. It was as delicious as I have ever had. They had a separate menu for their pizzas, which they pointed out as having a reputation of being amazing, but I wanted something with more of a personal feel--something that was house created or from the misty streets of an English town. They had English classics such as bangers and mash, bird stew, shepherd's pie, and trifle, as well as something that was so hard for me to turn down: Irish nachos. I ended up getting the Union Jack steak sandwich and onion rings, which came with a Bourbonnais sauce, and my friend ordered the broccoli flatbread melt with fries. We both drank two pints of Two Hearted with our meal. We both loved our meals. The pub is neat because there's a wall that separates the more bar-oriented side where one would come simply to drink and watch a game with the side that seems to cater mainly to people wanting to eat dinner. Behind us sat a family with children. Including my tip, my meal and drinks came out to around $24. I couldn't complain about it and was deeply appreciative of the experience. The pub closes early compared to other bars in the area, so don't seek this out if you're looking for a late evening out. My parents are visiting me this weekend and my mom is as English as they come and I'm excited to take her to Union Jack to experience a little slice of home in the center of Indiana. read more

Very good food. The pizza might be the best in town. I wish the prices were cheaper.

In the BRip area, bar-wise, I bounce btwn Union Jacks, Moe n Johnny's and Binkleys. I mean if the guys are gonna make me sit there thru at least 4-5 beers, there had better be a decent food menu to keep me occupied (does Fat Dan's kinda count? drippy wet SUBMERGED italian beef with both hot and sweet peppers.....go during downtimes, they'll always get it right). Last few times I've been to BR Brew Pub have been disappointing so I'm giving them a break for a while. I'm telling you-- Wednesday Ribs special!! yeah really their ribs are surprisingly good!! I always get fellas down along the bar appreciating my appreciation for those things. even their creamy coleslaw is decent. Else-- Tenderloin sandwich. Reuben. Fish n chips. Pretty much those 4 things on a rotating schedule. Consistently good & meets expectations. That's big in my book. ALWAYS switch out my fries for onion rings. Admittedly have not tried their pizza yet! I like the slightly more mature crowd at Union Jacks and the front window area in the summer. Friendly bartenders, and I've always been lucky to have good service even on crazy Vogue concert nights. but again I also nearly always sit up at the bar or in the front area. I know BRip is notoriously difficult for parking esp during evening hours but if you try to get there by 5.30 you can usually nab a spot in their backlot. read more

There is really only one reason to go to union jacks: the deep dish pizza. Outside if Chicago, this is the best place to get a deep dish pie. If you ask, they might even make you the lasagna deep dish, even though it's not on the menu. Fair warning, it does take about an hour to get one of these pies. The rest of the food here is not memorable, and the service leaves a lot to be desired. On my last visit, we were seated quickly and ordered some sandwiches and drinks, during a slow dinner time. We got the drinks quickly, but the food took a while. They were out of some of my favorite local beers, so I decided to try a local gingerbread beer. I hated it. I don't find myself hating beer much, and I can't remember the last time I couldn't drink a beer that was placed in front of me. But I took one drink and that was the end. After the waitress cleared our plates, she asked why I didn't drink my beer. I told her I didn't like it. She told me I should have said something, but in reality she hadn't been back to our table since bringing our food. She did however bring me a different beer, which was delicious. But she forgot to bring the second round for one of my companions, which she didn't notice until she returned 20 minutes later to see if I liked my beer. Overall, we were looking for a quick dinner and spent over an hour in the place. Come hungry for a deep dish pizza or don't come at all. read more

Someone told me this place had great burgers, but I wasn't super impressed. I had the Ultimate Burger which is meat on meat with meat and cheese - on Texas Toast. You can't get much more heart attack than that. I had some wings to start. They really weren't all that. Decent, but not mind blowing. Aaron had the cheesy bacon fries for his appetizer and said they were acceptable. He ordered the Stromboli. Also okay. They did accomodate our large group with no drama about splitting the bill, so that was nice. Next time we'll try some of the items recommended by others... read more

Sometimes when we go to Broad Ripple and not quite sure where to eat, we end up at Union Jack. Nothing to truly write home about but somehow we always end up here. Food : 4/5 - I don't have a favorite meal on the menu, but I haven't been terribly disappointed by the food. Beer : 4/5 - Though I generally drink local beers, I always go for the Black & Tan, the Snakebite or the Cider and Stout when I'm here Location : 4/5 - Clean, Tries to do the Pub feel though there is nothing truly authentically British about the place Service : 3/5 - Can be spotty read more

Union Jack's is a decent place for a drink. One of those places that I never choose myself but am never opposed to when someone suggests it. One of their big draws are the garage-style windows on the bar side that they can open in good weather. They have a pretty good draft list and some nice cocktails. I am especially partial to Pimm's Cup and their little cucumber & gin number. I've had food there on a few occasions and it hasn't been something to rave about, although I have yet to try the deep dish pizza. In one of my many SNAFUs where I did not fully read the menu, I ordered the stuffed pizza assuming it would be a stuffed crust pizza. What came out was something like an apple pie, but with cheese and sauce in place of the apples? It classifies as one of the stranger "Amercian style" food item that I've eaten. The service isn't extremely attentive but they've always been friendly, so no complaints there. It's not a great place for a late-night drink. A few of us popped in here around 11 on a Saturday and they were shutting down, although the bartender very kindly did a final call for us. If you're interested in trivia they have Family Feud-style trivia on Tuesdays. read more

Union Jack's was okay. Just okay. I wasn't overwhelmed by the food, but it was good. Maybe because I had a chicken wrap instead of pizza, I don't know. I thought it was pricey, $8 for cheesesticks? $10 for a wrap? I didn't fall in love. I ate my meal and was satisfied. The liquor list is pretty impressive, so that was a plus. I'd probably eat here again but it's not someplace I'd go out of my way to go to. read more

Pros: Right in Broad Ripple. Handful of free parking spots out back. Great beer list. Great atmosphere. Our experience is what really took the stars away. Service was terrible from our waiter. When he first greeted us he couldn't even make eye contact and was not particularly interested in service. It could have been a long day. No Big Deal. We ordering our first round and dinner, our drinks came. We reminder which three got which drink. It was little slow to get them but it was most likely after a big dinner rush (I'm starting to make excuses) Then we sat. As the drink reached that critical 10% left mark we all knew we would be sitting with empty glasses soon. The group seated after us and ordered after us suddenly got their food that's when hangry set in. Another 3-4 minutes someone (not our waiter) brought us our food. He quickly brought us some condiments and said he would send our waiter back for drink orders. Well he came back, went to the table beside us and then as he was running away I had to yell to get his attention. We ordered another round....I don't need to go on about this service anymore. The food would have been good. I got the fish and chips which has a great batter. The cold fries were a disappointment. Another dining partner had a big salad. He wished it had more greens and less iceberg. Finally the third meal was a chicken wrap which was missing BBQ. The waiter quickly brought out the sauce. Her fries were also cold This could have been a good meal, I just feel the service and timing ruined it. read more

Went for lunch on a Wednesday. Server was pleasant and helpful. Fiancé and I each got a pick 2 from the lunch menu... I had BLT and spicy chicken chili. The BLT was really good- simple with plenty of crispy bacon. Chicken chili was not spicy at all and sort of bland. Luke had the veggie sandwich and French onion soup- sandwich was "above average" and soup was top notch. Side note- Bloody Mary with shrimp was also above average with a good amount of spice. We would go back. read more

I was heartbroken when Union Jacks stopped serving "real" British food and went to serving basic pub fare, but I guess they had to do what they had to do to survive the blandness of the midwestern palette. Still, the food they serve they do well. If you come here, I recommend skipping the sandwiches and getting a stuffed or deep dish pizza - it's the best Sicilian Deep Dish in Indiana. If you can get through a 12in deep dish on your own, you will be the proud winner of both my admiration and a future triple bypass. Union Jacks is split into two rooms - one full of booths for families, the other with a full bar and chairs for everyone else. The bar is well stocked, and they usually have local games running on the TVs. It's a great place for an afternoon beer and pizza, or a place to pre-party before hitting a few other bars in Broadripple. read more

The bar and seating area that opens to Broad Ripple Avenue was the first thing I noticed about Union Jack. The amazing-looking pizza being enjoyed by most of the other patrons was the next. And the pizza tastes as good as it looks. They do a nice deep dish, though the regular crust will certainly not be confused with thin, either, and boy is it delicious. They run a pizza special early in the week...save between $3 and $5 on Mon and Tues. Nice selection of beers on tap, and of course, prime location. An expanded selection of appetizers would get them a 5th star from me. read more

Good food, bad service. We were one of the first customers for lunch and our waitress Kimmi was less than friendly when taking our order. It seemed like we were really asking too much when we had a question about the menu. When asked if they could prepare one of the specialty pizzas without one of the toppings, her response was, "no substitutions." I wasn't asking for a substitution, I just didn't want one topping. We ended up ordering mozzarella sticks and two pizzas. After waiting for 30 minutes she stopped by to let us know our pizzas would be right out. When we asked about our appetizer she said, "oh, I forgot to put that in." We were her only table! The pizza was pretty good. The ingredients seemed fresh; the cheese was good. The crust was a bit like a cracker. The restaurant seemed clean, but they could use some new trivets. When I was eating my last slice of pizza Kimmi wanted to clear the table and I wished she waited because she lifted that dirty trivet over my plate and then the spatula on the tray fell on my arm. She did not offer any apology. read more
