The food here is ok. The portions are rather small and the food doesn't seem too authentic. The good thing about this place is the salad as they aren't cheap with the Feta Cheese and the dressing is quite good. read more

We ate breakfast at the Union Cafe this morning and it was delicious. We had an order of pancakes and bacon and an order of cinnamon raisin french toast with a side of very good sausage. The owner-manager is very friendly and appreciative of our business. She said she believes in serving quality food. ( That must be why real maple syrup is also on the menu- for an extra fee. Fine by me.) There is a nice variety of dishes with daily specials. Every time we have eaten at the Union Cafe we have been happy with our meals. While not a large restaurant, it is comfortable with large windows that brighten the room. No small thing, the restroom is immaculate! We need to drop in more often.. read more

No matter what day of the week or what time of the day you go, the food is great, the service is excellent and the whole experience is truly enjoyable. Today we went a little before noon time and got right in. Karina had a juice and I got a coffee to start things off and I followed up with a bowl of the lobster bisque which was delicious. For 3.99 you literally get a 14 ounce bowl of soup which in itself could have been a meal. Then we each got a Grilled Reuben sandwich with fries. Portions were huge, and the quality was amazing. The meat/kraut ratio was spot on. I can't tell you how many times you go out and order a reuben and it ends up being a kraut sandwich! Not the case here! All in all we finished up and got out check which was a whole $27. A great meal for a great price! We would recommend it to anyone in the area for a quality breakfast, lunch or brunch! read more

Me,My Boyfriend & His Parents who commute from Massachusetts come here to eat every weekend for breakfast cause the food is always fresh,coffee is always Hot and fresh and the service is increditble Especially Becky the server who we request when ag as available however the Host Hector is amazing as well. Just need to say that we are so blessed to have awesome Cafe's in Niskayuna, NY. And for those who live walking distance to the Union Street Cafe, you are VERY fortunate. My family and I went on Friday at noon and were able to order breakfast off their menu without worrying about the time. We all had the Cafe Delux which consisted of two pancakes or French toast, two eggs, two pieces of meat (bacon, sausage), and home fries. Everyone was raving about the food. They even had the option of having real Maple Syrup which is a must for us. The waitress was very pleasant and always available if needed. We will be back! read more

My only complaint is the price. $18 for 2 eggs scrambled , toast, 2 12oz glasses of juice , coffee and 2 orders of Home fries , same breakfast at another cafe in Saratoga is $10 . And a little slow, I guess I was spoiled with other diners speed . read more

Awesome! My family and I were here for family weekend for our son who goes to the college. We were greeted by friendly staff who advised us there was a little bit of a wait which we expected for the family weekend. They let us know we could help ourselves to coffee until our table was ready. We were seated in a very timely manner given how busy it was with all the college families. We were asked what we would like to drink right away. Shortly after ordering we were served our delicious food very fast. We enjoyed the blueberry French toast, Benedict and the delicious omlette. It was delightful! A must have! I have to say it really made a nice end to our trip! The staff was really doing a great job getting all the families a table as fast as they could with the crowd of people. Wonderful staff! Great service! Worth every dollar. Delicious food. My first visit was a little disappointing considering the other reviews. I went in for a weekday breakfast. The place is small, clean and bright. I was greeted right away and could sit where i wanted. There were several other customers present. Large screen tv showing the news of the day was visible from most seats. I was given the days specials but ordered eggs over medium, sausage, toast, hashbrowns and tea. The waitress was delightful and promptly brought my tea over. I received my order quickly but was disappointed. My over medium eggs were over easy and the hashbrowns were bland and over cooked. The toast was perfect and the sausages were fat and very tasty. During my meal was the addition of a waitstaff person whos job it seemed was to stare at customers until they left so she could clean the tables. It was very off putting and I'm guessing she needs more work to do. Prices are reasonable and serving sizes are good. I'll give them another shot (hopefully it was just a fluke). This diner has become a favorite of my wife and I. The food is always great and the service is even better. Even when the place is packed full we always get what we need. This is my favorite breakfast place in NY State! EVerything is delcious the family that runs it is very personable. The lunch menu is also excellent. The Greek items are the best greek food available in the Capital District. The Pastichio to better than any I've had, even in Astoria, Queens! My family and I absolutely love this place. The menu is just big enough to offer a wide variety of dishes to meet anybody's taste buds, but not so big that it is overwhelming. The wait staff are consistently attentive and friendly. The owner seems to ALWAYS be there and makes sure to check in with customers to see how things are going. I have had a variety of meals, from simple breakfast sandwiches to greek food and everything has been consistently delicious. Even my very picky 13 year old loves eating here. The place is relatively small, and even though it is crowded on weekend mornings we have never had to wait longer than a few minutes for a table. It is a great local place with the perfect variety of tasty food on it's menu, generous portion sizes, and a welcoming atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and skip the chain restaurants to check this place out- I doubt you will be disappointed! read more

Flew into Albany and came to Union Cafe on recommendation from Yelp. Food was good, but portion size was SMALL and expensive to boot. A half-filled glass of juice costed almost $3.00! My friend had to return his meal 3 times and each time the portion size got smaller. read more

Visiting from Florida, stopped in for a late breakfast. Portions size for pancakes were huge! And perfectly fluffy. The home fries were very flavorful. My 4 year old son had a meltdown in the middle of our meal & Jessica came over to talk with him. She was super sweet and worked her charm on my son. Wow for the moussaka and greek salad. Moussaka was fresh, creamy, spicy, soft yumness, not too salty, melt in your mouth deilcious. Hard to find in this area. Greek salad was excellent too with a slab of fresh feta and oregano, tomatoes, cukes, olives and stuffed grapeleaf. I want more! read more

I recently went to Union Cafe for breakfast. While me and my boyfriend were eating breakfast he noticed a piece of hair underneath his toast. We decided not to say anything and continued eating. As he continued to eat he noticed another piece of hair on his eggs. We were totally grossed out and will not be returning back to the resturant again. read more

My husband and I have eaten here a few times. The food is good and so is the service especially when we have had Lori for our waitress. She anticipates all our needs and is very friendly. Our primary complaint is we asked to share a club sandwich and were told that there would be a $3 charge! We have eaten in many types of restaurants from five star to highway diners and have never experienced this before. I think the owner's decision to do this is a big mistake. read more
