Wonderful local cafe that is always full of customers. Most recent visit was a Friday morning. The specialty item was lobster eggs Benedict! Portion was large very large prices of lobster and perfect hollandaise.

Breakfast part 2!! After having an extremely disappointing meal at a diner near by we decided to go here to get some real food. I am glad we did! This place is cute, charming and we were greeted right away. The coffee is delicious, always a good sign. I was excited to order the lump crab eggs Benedict. I was not disappointed! Real crab meat instead of the ubiquitous sea leg nestled under perfectly poached eggs. The hollandaise sauce was a tasty blanket. The potatoes on the side were so flavorful and cooked to the right texture with onions adding to the taste. My husband's egg sandwich was very good with crispy bacon and a nice hard roll. If we hadn't already been full from our earlier breakfast we would have finished our meals. We boxed up more than half of our meals to enjoy later. Recommended!!

Food, service, staff. All combine for a very pleasant visit. Having recently moved to this area this will definitely be a family favorite. And thanks to Anna Banana for snapping the photo!

Actually, a 4.5 Stars rating Breakfast outside on the patio at 10:00 on a Thursday was very good. Breakfast specials include coffee until 11:00 am; otherwise, coffee is $3.49 which seems to be a high price. Omelets etc. do include coffee. I had the two egg breakfast special which was a good value. The eggs "medium over easy" were cooked perfectly. The bacon was mediocre--limp and fatty. The "home fries with onion" were excellent! My husband had the Deluxe Breakfast special with pancakes which he enjoyed. Home fries were .99 cents extra. Service was efficient and attentive, and the table with an umbrella on the front patio was terrific on a lovely sunny 70 degree morning. The tables on the patio were not crowded. Customers we happened to see were mostly seniors, and many people were picking up takeout orders.

We stopped by the Union Cafe while visiting Schenectady for the day. Sunday brunch seemed like a great idea so our daughter suggested the Union Cafe. Clean and cozy with seating spaced well for COVID-19 precautions, there was a homey feel. The staff members were friendly and welcoming. Our brunch of quiche for me, pancakes & sausage for my daughter, and and a California Omelette for Meg, my wife. We also enjoyed Lobster Bisque and home fries. Everything was more than satisfactory, and downright delicious. As we left, we noted that it had warmed up considerably and diners were enjoying the spacious deck which overlooks the sidewalk. We'd have eaten outside ourselves, if it had been warmer when we arrived. I think there's something for everyone on the extensive three meal menu. I recomend Union Cafe for a good meal at a reasonable price.

WHEN: Sunday @ 11am Not too busy for Sunday brunch. We didn't wait for a table at all, we grab the last available booth inside. We've been going to union cafe since 2016, it's seriously one of the best local brunch cafes on union street. It's not overprice, always expect fresh cooked breakfast food. Server was so friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of their extensive menu. She came to check on us a few times during our meal. WHAT WE ORDERED Florentine omelette Waffles with corn beef hash Poached eggs breakfast Very healthy and hearty breakfast. We only waited less than 15min for food to be prepped. The portions were so large, it's worth it for the value. I highly recommend union cafe if you're in town visiting or looking for a good brunch place to go in and out quickly.

Wonderful, little diner! We found it on our way up to Amsterdam from the Albany airport. Good food and great service in an adorable town.

The Rebel Chef says: Among America's best diners…read more Take that to the bank! First off, the name 'Chuck Wagon' is a nod to the Old West; where cowmen and cowboys used to pull along a wood wagon, which had many covers and a hatch in the back, where the cook would cut stuff, prepare meals & drink and prepare meat. This is a genuine name - do not ever get rid of this diner! Anything you could possibly want or look for in diner atmosphere: is right here. The atmosphere is professional and bright. The elder gentleman, quickly stopped at my table to say "hello". We spoke a few minutes about where we were both from and sports. I made a promise, to return - which I so far did not have time to. Now I will. And this is my review! My breakfast was epically badass! Truly. Totally and utterly and perfectly prepared. No burns. I ordered a poached egg, and that chef in the kitchen did it better than I would have. Better than me. So cool! Not only that, but my entire dish was flavorful beyond belief (see delicious pics). The eggs were 'country' eggs - they tasted soo much better. The sausage was also very unique and tasty - it was nicely roasted and had a nice sear. The casing was a throwback to when real butchers made real meats! Not the tofu, cardboard-meat that J-Lo, little starving millennials and Taylor try to put in our manly bodies. Real flavor! Real meat! Strong coffee! The service too, was so genuine, so happy and polite it was a breath of fresh air when compared to many places where waitresses have just blank stares and that 'deer in the headlight' ('got to pay my kids' bills because I married a dummy')-type brainlessness. It doesn't matter how you look, where you're from; if you are a biker in leather or a guy in a tie: you will get positive country vibes only and warm friendliness. Chris' Chuck Wagon Diner is awesome! I am thinking about going back tomorrow. The food is craftily made, eclectic in variation and tasty. Please order what is on the menu!! Epic place. Doing it right! Farmhands, workers and cowboys everywhere, love this place! Review: 5++

I have been to Redwood Diner numerous times and I always enjoy it. The service is consistently fantastic, and that really stands out. The owners (Pete and Gloria) are very friendly, as are the waitresses, and you can tell they truly care about the people who come in. On several occasions, both owners and waitresses have stopped by the table to make sure everything was good and to chat for a bit. The conversations are always enjoyable and never feel forced. The waitresses know my order by heart which is impressive. You can tell the waitresses really care. They stop by numerous times to make sure you're all set and always offer to warm up and top off your coffee. The food is always good and the portions are generous, so you definitely leave satisfied. There is a really nice ambiance here. It feels comfortable and welcoming, not rushed or impersonal. They also decorate the windows for holidays, and there is a Christmas tree in the front breezeway that they decorate for different holidays throughout the year, which adds a fun and festive touch. Many times I have ended up chatting with other patrons seated near my table, which says a lot about the atmosphere. There are clearly several regulars, and when a place has a loyal customer base like that, they are doing something right. One of the things I appreciate most is that you can go with others, enjoy your food, and have a nice conversation without feeling pressure to leave quickly. That is getting harder to find these days. This place easily earns 5 stars from me.

As far as diners are concerned, Redwood Diner totally fits the mold. There's a nostalgic vibe to these places that is almost comforting in itself. The food, yup, got you covered there, too. There's the "meat and three" combo, if you count the salad as one of the vegetables. This comes with bread and soup, veg & starch as well as the previously mentioned salad. There's even a liver and onions option on the menu. I've never been a fan so I passed on that one. One of the other staples offered here that I can recommend are the hot dogs. Get them loaded with meat sauce, onions, and mustard. Although the prices have changed, the charm remains.
