This is from our visit in March 2018…read more We didn't have reservations so we got in line early for a dinner table. We were the first two in line so when the doors opened at 8 - we were able to get a small table. The restaurant is located behind the bar and is very small - it seats only 20-30 people. However, if you're craving steak in Paris - it's probably one of the best Argentine steakhouses around. The theme is very Heavy Metal and the menu has a lot of sexual innuendos so if you're rather conservative then you might have a problem but then again you probably won't be staying on this side of the city. The service was excellent - we had one waitress for the entire room but she was on top of everything! Best service we had for our entire Paris trip! The food was decent - not the best steak but not the worst. The portions on the steak were small but the portion size for the potatoes was huge. Make sure to get the extra sauce assortment and try them all with both the steak and potatoes. I ordered a chicken salad which came a little too drenched in dressing - not sure if that was normal or they thought I'd like it that way being from the states. Creme brûlée was decent. We also ordered empanadas as an appetizer - they resembled a pair of testicles - we got a kick out of that! In summary, decent food (maybe a little $$ for the quality) but the service was excellent and the theme was entertaining - heavy metal and sex. We bought a t-shirt to remember our night.

The Black Dog may be just down the block from Paris' legendary jazz clubs, but make no mistake…read moreabout it: this is a true heavy metal bar. (I think? They apparently serve up Argentine style steakhouse specialties and run specials on empanadas) The beer selection is somewhat limited, but the prices are cheap for the area (all the more so during their happy hour from 17:00-21:00, where a pint of a local lager runs just €3). The music is a mix of old school thrash metal and newer death metal/black metal tracks, with a small bar area and dining space upstairs, smokers patio outside, and larger area in the basement. Throw on your vintage Exodus t-shirt and headbang the night away.

After searching through some Yelp reviews, hubs decided he wanted to check this place out…read more We were quickly greeted and brought to a table. We had good timing as the restaurant filled up shortly after our arrival. The menu isn't extensive - empanadas options and a few other main options. Kiddo decided on the octopus, comes with a choice of side and he chose the puréed corn. He said the octopus was very tender. Hd enjoyed it quite a bit. The corn was also very good. Mom ordered the fish and side of sweet potato purée. She's not a big eater but noted the fish was quite thin and small for the price, but noted the flavors were really good. Hubs and I shared the Baby Beef with salad and potatoes. The meat was cooked perfectly and we both really liked the salad. Daughter thought she was ordering truffle cheese empanada - received a strange look when she ordered it. Turned out to be just slices of truffle cheese. That was some expensive cheese (€18). Hubs couldn't resist the profiterole - melted chocolate poured on at the table. It was a good profiterole filled with hazelnut (I think) ice cream. Also ordered the chocotart which was very much like a tiramisu; however, for me, it didn't really hBe that much flavor. Only complaint is that we weren't brought enough bread. Six of us and only a basket of three slices. Service was good, otherwise.

I've now been 4 times and always had a good meal, last night was no exception. The empanadas were excellent...at least the pastry was...the filling was very yummy but didn't seem to have any olives...but which is good as I don't like olives! The pata negra was also excellent, thin cut, fine tasting... As for main course, my entrecôte steak, a point plus, was very good indeed and served with rough cut sauté potatoes Washed down with a red from Salta...and I've been there some 26 years ago! The wine grew with the food....very nice A coffee and the bill...not by any means excessive...

Paris' third arrondissement continues to blow me away every time I visit the city, and Clasico…read moreArgentino is no exception. Not unlike the rest of the district, it's simple, but wonderfully so. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Ne parlent pas français? No problem. Two kind gentlemen who I assume are the owners/operators are on hand, and they were more than accommodating with an english menu to boot. The location is divine, and the atmosphere comfortable regardless of what the weather looks like outside. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? €4,00 is admittedly on the expensive side when it comes to an individual empanada, but not only is this Paris, but we're talking about a speciality cuisine type that fetches a premium essentially anywhere outside of South America. That being the case, and considering that these were pretty damn big emps, 4EUR is a fair price. Have a look: http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=OKX-V5j_qfuOebeHeWGrHg&select=fVVwOlvdmSmZoS2as0cxGg Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? To be honest with you, I don't exactly recall which two empanadas I got, but one was for sure a chicken medley and another beef of some sort. What you should know is that both were very, very good, and I very much enjoyed the baked yet flakey outside as opposed to the alternative deep fried option found across the globe. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Have a South American craving in the city of love and lights? Clasico Argentino has you covered. Go here. Star Granted.
