Warning. Do not use Unibody Autotech. They are unreliable and unresponsive. My vehicle was involved in a small accident in July. I called Unibody and they said the earliest they can book me for an estimate was in Aug. For the estimate, Michael, the owner surveyed my vehicle, took pictures and then explained that due to COVID and parts delays, they won't be able to fix my vehicle till Oct. Not a great timeline, but I agreed to it and he had me sign a contract and explained if I choose to go elsewhere, then I'm personally liable for the costs of parts ordered, service, etc. I waited patiently till mid Oct contacted Unibody asking for an update on my repair. They told me that no parts had been ordered and no repair had been scheduled. My impression is that they sidelined my claim and totally forgot about it. I was told that someone would contact me later in the day to schedule the repairs. No one contacted me so I called to follow up the next day. Same story... then I was transferred to another person where I had to re-explain the entire situation. This happened 3-4 times and after following up on the 4th time, someone finally called me back and admitted they were swamped and that Michael the owner does a lot of traveling and is very unresponsive. It was suggested that I call another auto body shop as the earliest they can schedule me is Jan 2022. Seriously?? 6 months later. I told them to schedule me for now for Jan, to which they replied that they can't schedule me until Michael actually books the appointment. But Michael is unreachable and never responds to any emails or calls. I then asked them to order the parts so when my appointment is booked, we're not waiting on the parts...to shich they replied..."We can't order any parts until an appointment is booked".
Basically, the master runaround. Rewinding back to the contract I signed... I asked, "what about the contract that I signed??" To which they replied...nah, it's just an electronic document so not a big deal and no parts have been ordered so we can disregard it. So... I guess when it's convenient for Unibody to delete/break the contract, it's no big deal, but when a customer breaks the contract and seeks repairs at another shop, we're liable?? Bad business and unethical!! I called my insurance company and they said that they reached out to Unibody several times for an estimate. Unibody told my insurance that they would forward an estimate but to date my insurance company has not heard back from Unibody. Bottom line is that their act is in the streets. Their shop is small and cannot handle much volume. The staff are spread out amongst different locations and rely on emails between each other to communicate and schedule appointments. Emails are easy to ignore. This is a badly runned business and their customers suffer from their bad policies and incompetence. If you plan on using Unibody, be prepared to get strung along only to start from square one months later. Save yourself a lot of time and grief and skip this place entirely. You've been warned...
Update...I was told by unibody that due to covid, all repair shops are going through the same issues and some shops are not accepting appointments. So I called my insurance and received authorization to take my vehicle to another shop. I called an auto repair shop down the road and they booked me for a survey today, took pictures and booked me for repairs in 2.5 weeks. Again, save yourself the time and grief and skip Unibody altogether. read more
