What a cool spot to grab some food before a night out! They have a good variety to choose from and also have a bar. We got food from Bird Haus chicken which was BOMB. I ordered the chicken sandwich on hot. Kind of sad they were out of Mac and cheese, but I ordered fries instead. The fries were really good!! And OMG their sauce???? Soooo delicious. Kind of tastes like cane sauce but sweeter. We ordered pizza from a spot there as well and it was so good. Instead of marinara sauce she used pesto sauce and shredded the mozzarella cheese on top. I don't recall the name of this kind of pizza but it was so good. We showed her a video from TikTok and she knew right away which one it was. I can't wait to return and try the other foods they have! read more

Came here for Happy Hour. The bartender was great, I believe her name was Andrea-- I could be wrong, so sorry, but she is pictured in the Underground pictures on the website. I can't believe Jack Daniels is on the Happy Hour menu, I loved this! The place is a little hall filled with about five different food spots and some games. I walked in and out two times, because by the looks online I thought this was a traditional restaurant and wanted to try the food. I didn't end up getting food but the drinks were good for happy hour. I would come again. read more

Great place! Definitely has the underground vibe. Parking was $10! A little pricey for a weekday. Since it's COVID times, only 3 restaurants were open and 1 bar, and the dessert at entryway. We ordered from San Juan tacos, it's was delicious! Juicy and filling. A little sad that there weren't more options, but I understand with the whole pandemic. I would come back once the hours and restaurants come back! read more

The only reason I am giving this place three stars is due to parking and the flies! Another than that the food selections are great and a great chill spot to go as a group. Perfect for when you and your significant other can not decide on a place to eat or when you ask and the answer Is I don't care when you know damn well that they do! read more

Love the new makeover of the old Conservatory! Went there for lunch today and it seems like all the restaurants are practicing safe health measures. The bartender wiped sanitized my credit card before giving it back to me! Had the new Birra brisket tacos at Don Juan and !!!!!!!!! They are so good! I've been seeing them around social media but didn't know where to get them around town until I saw it was just added to their menu. The birra is AMAZING! Rich flavors with just the right amount of kick. Literally ate every last bite. I also loved the two salsas. Much spicer and perfect for the tacos. I also got more soup to-go to eat with tamales at home tonight. If you ever visit Don Juan's, ask for Johnny. Everything he made was delicious and for a first-timer, I'm definitely coming back for these! Excited to try the other concepts down there! read more

Underground Hall is an awesome new food hall in Downtown Houston. I went with a group of friends for happy hour and the staff was quite welcoming. Even though the place was still new and working out quirks, the food and drinks were tasty and beautifully presented. Check out pictures I took of the different menus! read more

Visited UH shortly before the lockdowns occurred. The crowd was pretty sparse for a Friday night, as most had already begun sheltering in place, but that didn't impact the experience. It's like a dining hall but for adults and perhaps families too in the early hours. There's something for everyone at Underground Hall -- in fact, this is where you go when everyone in the gang wants different options. They've got burgers for your carnivore friends and even vegan options for your plant-based friends. Not to mention, pizza, beer, Asian fusion and desert options. read more

Great local craft beer selection! Lots of good food options to choose from while you drink

Great food hall in downtown Houston. While it may not have the frills of other food halls, this place offers a great variety of delicious bites and even some arcade games. You can order pho, unique pho dip (must try!), a beer from many selections on tap, Birria tacos, stir fry, fried chicken sandwich, and more recently, delicious paninis. Don't forget the desert stand upstairs! Great low key vibe spot worth checking out. read more

Came here on Tuesday after work and it wasn't crowded. The area is a lot more brighter than when it was the conservatory. The Crisp pizza was a really good. Crust was crispy and pretty thin. A nine inch was about 9 dollars? Seemed slightly pricey but it was really good pizza that I'd get again. I also had the chicken fried rice at Wokker and it was good. The chicken was grilled, but lacked a little salt. The kimchi added some great heat. I probably wouldn't order it again just because of the chicken. I'd come here for a very casual dinner with friends or a quick place to grab a beer or cocktails. If I had to compare it to the Conservatory, I'd say it was a change for the better. read more

Perfect spot to head to before an Astros game. To be honest, any occasion is great. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was awesome. We had the birria tacos from "Birria Los Primos" and it was delicious. I'll be heading here before game days for sure. Service was a little weak, but it all turned out great. Food tasted fantastic. Great place to go with friends! Lots of different kinds of food to try. We tried 3 different restaurants from here... the Birria tacos were great. The Spicy chicken sando was pretty good. I compare everything to Miko's now... go try that place! But this one was good too. The kimchi fries were amazing too. We're definitely going back. read more

No. Just no. Chaotic. Random. Unclean. Loud. Mediocre food. Expensive, watered down drinks. College campus food court vibes.

This was such a fun date night. Underground Hall located in downtown Houston. There are 5 restaurants and a bar. We tried 1 thing from each spot. The best was the Pho dip sandwich from Pho Fix. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich from Chicken Haus, and the birria quesadilla from Birria Los Primos. Yes we had leftovers. Not pictured was a piece of Reese's tres leches cake that was amazing. read more

I came here on a hunt for the best hot chicken sandwich in Houston and instead stumbled upon the coolest underground food hall. The food vendors here were so diverse, from pho to birria to stir fry, they all boasted delicious looking options. I stuck with my original mission and picked up a hot chicken sandwich from Bird Haus. Although I couldn't capture its beauty in the subpar lighting, the taste more than made up for it. It was a perfectly balanced sandwich with a soft brioche bun, sharp pickles, and delicious crunch to the chicken. The heat level was also pretty good. I got hot and it was nicely flavored without making me want to chug water. Next time I might go for a higher level, like reaper. Asides from the sandwich, we also picked up some drinks from the bar. I really liked the pineapple cider and we also got some $1 champagne shots as a symbolic celebratory drink! read more

You know your Grandpa's age old story of how he walked to school backwards, barefoot, in a blizzard, carrying 20 lbs of textbooks...like way back in the day? Something of that nature? Right. I have a similar story. I walk a whole mile to this spot in the dead of Texas summer. That's comparable, no?! And I still live to tell the story + eat the Bird Haus chicken sandwich. Why? Because it's worth it. Other reasons I brave July's hell fire weather to come here: 1. All the food vendors are A1, honestly. Get some pho to-go when you're sick some time. You won't regret it. 2. Plenty of seating. I come here bi-weekly and no matter the day/time/crowd, I can always manage to find a seat somewhere. 3. The bartenders are sweet and attentive and will put the Astros game on if you're a brat and ask for that kind of thing. (me) read more

I was in town looking for a place to have a drink & wrap up some assignments so I stopped at Underground Hall because of their happy hour. The place wasn't very busy - I was worried it would be too loud for me to finish my work. I found a spacious booth and was greeted quickly. I noticed they also had small bites on the happy hour menu so I ordered the brisket sliders and a glass of wine. There were several servers that checked in on me as the place started to pick up. Overall a comfy spot for happy hour whether you want to be social or kill time for a quick bit. read more

I have been visiting the Underground Hall since it was known as the Conservatory. The owners have done a nice job with the renovation and rebranding. Although there are larger and fancier food halls downtown I prefer the cozy feel of the Underground. I usually stop in here once a week. Sadly the reopening has been hampered by the Covid and related shutdowns. But it carries on with appropriate precautions. So far it has never been so crowded that I felt unsafe. I have spoken to the Manger/Owner, Dout, several times and find that he is interested in feedback and keen to make the operation a success under conditions that are hard on all in the food business. As the name implies, the Underground is located in the basement of a historic building which gives it a heck of a lot of character. From the street, you will see a small sign at the door. The Underground has five vendors including Treach Leches at the top of the stairs selling cakes and pastries. Downstairs there is a bar with mixed drinks and 30 taps for beers. Due to the Covid slowdown they only currently have about 20 on tap so that they can assure freshness of the brew. The selection is diverse and almost exclusively Texas beers. One of the exceptions is the Gulden Draak. A Belgian beer and personal favorite. All beer is $3 on Wednesday. The four food vendors include BYO Pizza, Hotline Burgers, Wokker (pan Asian), and Bird Haus Hot Chicken. Something for every taste. read more
