I came to get Ube cookies for dessert. The store doesn't give a bag for cookies, only the cake. I thought that was odd. Thankfully I had a bag that I can use to carry my cookies to go. I always get something with Ube when I come to this store.

Uncle Tetsu is located inside the Valley Fair Mall. They sell Japanese-Style Cheesecakes, Cheese Tarts, Basque Cheesecakes, and Cheesecake Biscotti. You'll find flavors such as strawberry, pandan, ube, oreo, matcha and black sesame. I've tried their Cheesecakes and Cheese Tarts: they're a bit pricey but such delicious treats! I actually prefer their Cheese Tarts over the Cheesecakes. The unique flavors make them more special!

There's historically been long lines wrapping around this Uncle Tetsu location at the Valley Fair mall, but I was able to find a shorter line on a weekday afternoon. I opted for a plain cheesecake to share with friends. I love the Japanese cheesecake style for its airiness, softness, and just the right amount of sweetness. Each bite almost gives a melting texture in the mouth, and there's a subtle creamy flavor that I love. The price is decent for the amount of cheesecake that you get, and I'd say the cake is great as a birthday cake for anyone who loves a delicate, Japanese-style cheesecake!

It's hard not to compare this Uncle Tetsu to the one in Japan. Definitely, the price is so much higher. It's the US and Bay Area prices baby!! Located in the second floor of the Westfield mall. No lines. Service is good. The Japanese cheesecake cake is almost the same. Tastes a little heavier , just slightly but still good. Tried their other specialty, their shortbread Ube cookies. Pretty soft and tasty. Would came back again when I crave it. [125R,2025]

There was not a long wait at all and got my cheesecake very quickly. The cheesecake is light and not too sweet.

    Matcha cheese tart $4.50

Inside Valley Fair, this counter is not big and has no designated seating area. Since I'm in the mall, I wanted a cheesecake and wanted a matcha flavor one. Unfortunately green one doesn't mean matcha. The green one is pandan coconut flavor. Since we asked about matcha, the staff recommended the last matcha cheese tart. In terms of price, I'm happy to pay $15 for a whole cheesecake but &4.50 for the matcha cheese tart, not so much. The cheesecake tasted good! Soft and moist in texture and they packed it in a box with holes and wrapped it in a textured paper, so it wouldn't dry up or have the evaporated moisture reverted back to the cake. The cheese tart was buttery in the tart base, but the matcha cheese filling isn't to my liking. I prefer stronger matcha flavor and less cheese tartness.

I've been dying to try Japanese cheesecake and was very excited to stumble upon this place! Staff was friendly and the Oreo cheesecake lived up to everything I dreamed of! The cheesecake was fluffy and delicious. I can not wait to come again and try their burnt basque cheesecake!

First time ordered the cheese tarts from Uncle Tetsu and it was ok. I was also comparing them to Baked in Japan and it just wasn't the same. Plus 1 cheese tart for $4.50 was a little steep to me, but I bought 3 regardless because if you buy three, it's packed in a box and comes with a bag. If you buy 1-2 the tarts are in a small paper sleeve. From favorite to least favorite: Ube, Cheese, Black Sesame

I haven't been to Uncle Tetsu in so long! I'm genuinely always surprised that each cheesecake is only $15 but I guess it doesn't take many ingredients to make and the portion sizes at the end of the day are not a lot. I came 15 minutes before closing time and I was surprised they still had all their flavors available which is great. I ordered the Pandan Coconut Cheesecake and I thought it was pretty good. I ate a lot of these Japanese sponge cake esque items in NYC and I think that both are pretty comparable as this was also pretty moist. I wish the pandan flavor was a bit stronger though. Overall great dessert option to share among friends while at Valley Fair.

$15 for a whole fluffy Japanese cheesecake is a pretty good deal in my opinion! I got the pandan coconut cheesecake since I love anything pandan and really enjoyed it. The coconut flavor was very apparent but I do wish the pandan flavor was a little stronger. It was also a bit on the sweet side for me, moreso than the original flavor. Quick service at the grab and go stand in Valley Fair Mall, located in a pretty crowded area of the mall near a lot of other Asian food (Shihlin Taiwanese snacks, Ramen Nagi, Marugame Udon, etc). I would love to try some of their other flavors, but don't have occasions to buy whole cakes super often- I wish they had a sampler set and/or sold pieces by the slice.

I usually like Cheesecake Factory but sometimes it's too rich. I heard good things about Uncle Tetsu so I decided to try their plain cheesecake. It's not heavy, not too sweet with a spongy texture. 15.00 for the cheesecake and it comes in a little box and a bag. These make good gifts.

No line at all on a Friday night! They raised their prices to $16. Light, fluffy, and not too sweet. We always grab 1-3 cakes when we come to valley Faire. We got the original today, but all of the flavors are good.

No ambiance here since it's just a small kiosk. The cheesecake here is good but the cookies are not. I only got the cookies and cream, and it was just dry and stale. The good: some bites with chocolate chips are okay, and $7 for 3 cookies isn't bad at all. And no tax! Service was fast since the cookies were on the counter but they had a sell-by of five days from now so unsure of freshness.

But I wouldn't attempt any chocolate ones again if I did come back here. It's lacking something. As for the inside, it's a spacious place with plenty of seating which is nice, although the music feels a little loud. The service is pretty straight forward here as you can order from a kiosk or up front, and there are screens that show which order number is finished around the restaurant. The bathroom was clean. The place was situated in a quiet plaza just outside of Lawrence Expressway. There's ample parking but it doesn't feel like the location is suitable for a cafe where you can picture sitting inside looking through some big windows facing a busy pedestrian walkway. However, once I stepped inside, I was surprised at how zen and peaceful the decorations were and how fitting it was for a cozy and quiet cafe hangout. The cake shelf was surprisingly busy. And this is where I took one star out because the lines were confusing and the staff skipped me to talk to the group behind me while I was clearly the next to be helped. Luckily another staff member came out from the back kitchen and jumped in to help. The staff spoke fluent mandarin. I was interested in their box cakes. A few of the yelpers raved about their soy milk cake and luckily they had one out for sampling. It was covered with lots of cream and the cake layer was soft and moist, but it was still slightly too sweet for me and I felt that it lacked the tofu kind of soy flavor. Then, I spotted on their menu that they have a black sesame matcha box cake, and black sesame is always my favorite, so I asked for it. They had the last one left! The staff said she had never tried it so she couldn't tell me if it is less sweet than the soy milk cake. Since it was the last one available and I already sampled the soy cake, I decided to give it a try. I am happy that I did. The cake was filled with matcha mousse and tasted light and aromatic with the jasmine kind of matcha flavor. It is definitely less sweet. Unfortunately, it doesn't have as much black sesame as I'd like. But overall, the cake flavor is the kind that I like, subtle, moist, and not too sweet. $38 for a box cake of 4x4 is a bit pricey, but I'm glad that I gave it a try. The cakes were freshly made and tasted best the same day of purchase. They also recommend refrigerating the cake and consuming it within a day or two.

I kept seeing posts about whaT's More cake's persimmon cakes, so I decided to give them a try. I preordered the persimmon molten cake and the persimmon crepe cake through their website. The online ordering process was smooth, and both cakes were ready right on time for pickup. Unfortunately, the persimmon molten cake was disappointing. While I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet, it was very mild in flavor. It tasted more like a simple sponge cake with a persimmon filling in the center, and overall, it felt quite underwhelming. In contrast, the persimmon crepe cake was much better. Each layer had persimmon cream and jam, which gave it a stronger and more pronounced persimmon flavor without being overly sweet. Overall, it's a cute cake shop worth checking out if you're looking for unique flavors in the South Bay. Parking: Plenty of parking available in the lot.

Our group ended up sitting outside since a lot of the larger tables indoors were occupied by only one or two people. You can grab your own chairs by the bathroom if you have a big group. I liked that menu was extensive. Besides shaved ice, they also had boba, tea, ice cream, and taiyaki. We waited maybe around 10 minutes for our order. We checked out a couple of games available near the front for customers to borrow. We shared one large mango cheesecake shaved ice and one medium Biscoff shaved ice. Mango cheesecake - This was AMAZING. My first bite tasted like heaven. The flavors worked together so well and the cheesecake wasn't overly sweet. The mangoes were ripe and sweet. Biscoff shaved ice - I enjoy Biscoff in general, but this didn't compare to the mango cheesecake at all. It was too sweet and more icey/watery. Chamomile tea drink -This paired nicely with the cold desserts. It was warm and refreshing at the same time. I almost never order nor see chamomile tea on menus so this was cool. One note: there was a water station available, but the cups were SO small. Maybe 2-3 gulps of water per cup. I wish they were bigger. You have a wall of (faux) jelly jars of all different flavors once you enter. This place feels very revamped. A "red carpet" greets you upon your approach to the counter. And though there is staff who I suppose could take your order, there is one kiosk tablet to place your order. Lots of seating inside (9 tables). We came on a Sunday afternoon and though the wall display says "SO MANY FLAVORS TO CHOOSE FROM", the inventory behind the glass says "meh not so much". I guess most of the different flavors had sold out already by 3 pm, like some of my favorite seasonals (dragon fruit, ube). However, I was able to get the osmanthus oolong which I love. The taro coconut was light and refreshing so I enjoyed that as well! Today I decided to venture and buy the durian but I have not YET tried it. It wasn't too busy so after placing the order, they had our order in less than 5 minutes. My puppers got to accompany me into the store too. I wish melo melo would open up stores out in the central valley and Sacramento area too.
