My wife's plate, which was exactly like mine was just dripping with grease and after bringing it up to the manager's attention he just looked at her weird and said "do you just want me to soak it up?" Don't come thirsty because drink refills will be few and far between. Place your meal order when they take your drink order if you can make up your mind quickly, because it will be a long time before they come back. In particular don't go here in the last few hours of the shift. They don't bother hiding the fact that they just want you to leave so they can go home. The waiter got the bills wrong,had to go back several times as we tried to get them straight, finally the manager came over and told several of us to just forget our bill, that it would take to long to sort it all out. Sonoran inspired Mexican cuisine with a nice flair of traditional Mexican culture. Between the bright interior, weekend mariachi band, and good food I will make an effort to return. The menu has many options and the portions are really nice. I ordered the chicken fajita tacos, which came with 2 sides. I was hoping to find brisket tacos but alas there were none. The food was delivered quickly, and our server was great. I was quite satisfied with my experience at Uncle Julio's, great Tex-Mex. Aside from the fact that my boyfriend convinced me Uncle Julio was actually his uncle for weeks now. We shared the combo fajitas for one, which was plenty to share, and ordered a side of 3 jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon. Yum yum, everything was delicious. The chips, salsa, and queso was good, but not my favorite. I'm typically not a fan of warm salsa and the queso was kinda bland, but still good, just nothing to write home about. The place was packed but service was terrific. I liked everything except the drink. A lively place - a little pricey for Mexican food. The manager apologized profusely for the drink and said a bottle cap probably fell I the blender but didn't comp anything til I protested the drink charge. After I asked, they told me they had taken off the drink charge but I paid cash and realized later that the change he gave me was for the original ticket. Just left without dinner! We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and dinner: taco salad and enchiladas. We had to wait for hot sauce and chips because they were out - no problem, we waited. Then, the food wait began; we attributed the extra long wait to very busy evening. However, I then noticed, 4 people across the bar that sat down much later than us received their food as well as a patron next to us. I then asked the manager about our food and he said he would check on it. The bartender came over to us and said they were out of salad - WHAT? Still, going with the flow, I said "No problem, I'll just order something else." He said "Great, you want to order something else?" Then proceeded to walk away from us and close out another patron and then check on another. When we got his attention and told him we wanted to close out, he just said "OK, so sorry about that." Nothing else, not a let me get my manager, let me comp your one drink, zero! Worst experience. The biggest reason this El Pasoan would want to go to this Mexican restaurant when there are plenty closer to my home is the consistent good quality. The portion size including the meat is plenty for my husband and I. I would recommend a platter to eat off of then take the rest home. You will need to request refried beans or else you will get Boracho or stewed beans. Try their Cozumel shrimp tacos also try the creamy hatch chili green sauce instead of the usual red.
