Unfortunately last night was the worst experience we've ever had dining at Uncle Julio's & it's our families go to 99% of the time (both alliance & Fort Worth location, depending where we are at the moment). However last night was absolutely unacceptable. No fault of our waitress, assuming she submitted our orders within a timely manner. We waited 40+ for food in a restaurant that wasn't even at 60% occupancy. After inquiring about our food 2-3x. We were told the kitchen was moving slow. I asked that we get food out to the table as it was ready as we had 3 small children with us and although it would be nice to all eat at the same time that was no longer a priority. The waitress voiced understanding yet everything was still brought out at the same time. Many plates cold, room temp at best. She brought the manager with her to Deliver the food and initially he did not give a sympathetic or apologetic posture. It wasn't until after one from our group got up to speak with him 1:1. He then returned apologizing, stating he understands the difficulty dining out with small children, etc. our meals (those who wanted them) were comped. Others opted out altogether, just for the sake of not feeling our food was properly handled in the back seeing items such as GRILLED SHRIMP came out freezing cold, or sides on hot plates were room temp while the meat was warm or vice versa. Again we frequent Uncle Julio's often and will, I'm sure, eventually think to return however it may not be in the near future. The restaurant was not busy, there was no communication unless we inquired and there wasn't going to be any mention of discount/comp. Had we not of asked. Seating 9 adults and 3 children our tab (food and drinks) would have been quite steep, and I don't feel like that was considered one bit last night until we mentioned it. read more

Checked back on Uncle Julio's, is it better than I last remembered...let's see! Staff was welcoming and attentive, our waiter checked up on our table twice while we were eating our entrees and refreshed us with another bowl of tortilla chips when he noticed we were out without our request. The drink glasses while I like the aesthetics of it, the cup was sticky and small and we would have to pour water from a glass pitcher when I find personally more convenient to simply have those large pizza place cups. Not the worse attempt of casual trying to be fine dining, but not the best, but I do adore the open kitchen where you can see them making tortillas! Their salsa is one of my favorites and is extremely formidable in the array of watery salsas I've tried. The portions are smaller though especially if you account for tens of Tex-Mex restaurants that give you entirely larger side portions if you order "Steak Fajita For Two" for $50, not small bowls of Mexican rice and pinto beans. The beef was on the chewier side and usually they come out on a sizzling platter but there was very little to the "sizzle" our fajitas gave. The onions and peppers were not as caramelized to show for the lack of "sizzle". The small bowl of white queso we ordered was thick but dippable when we initially got it and came out quick, but by the time our fajitas came out it became a solid, coagulated mess of a cheese sauce that broke any chip we tried to dip into it! For runnier quesos, like at Los Molcajetes, it continues to set but atleast is manageable to look edible, not like Elmers Glue. I still think Uncle Julio's is decent overall, but ultimately a last resort compared to what DFW has to offer, and they display the same prices if not cheaper! 2.5/5 read more

Not bad, but not great either. We went for an early dinner to beat the dinner rush, and I expected the service to be better considering the restaurant was 80% empty. I would expect long wait times for food at 7-8, not at 4:00. It was also very dark inside for some reason, I guess they're trying to save money on electricity. The food was fine, albeit overpriced. $40 for six fajitas is way too much, especially considering it felt like a lunch or "slim" option since they skimped on the chicken, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese. My wife had to get up after 15 minutes and ask wait staff for a waiter, the meal was horrible and the manager handled it in a combative manner. Went out to lunch with my step dad, and he chose Uncle julios. The parking lot was easy to navigate and find parking in, which was great because I am lazy. We went in and were seated pretty much immediately, always a huge plus. Our server was Rodrigo (I hope that's right, my step dad said that's what was on the receipt), and he was awesome. Great attitude and made the experience worth the trip. We ordered our food, fajitas and the salmon and a seasonal margarita, spicy pineapple. The margarita was super good but more acidic than my stomach was willing to let me get away with today. Still definitely recommend if you can take the acidity! Step dad loved his fajitas and I liked the salmon. The sauce over the rice was not good, though. Everything else in the dish was quite tasty! All in all, good stuff. I don't think this place deserves the rating it currently has at all. The workers were friendly and the right level of attentive and the food was good. Not anything mind-blowing, but I think it was worth the price. If you're debating stopping in, give it a shot. This location of Uncle Julio's was nothing short of awful. We had called in the day before for a reservation at 6:30pm- by the time we were seated it was 8:30. We were repeatedly told by the staff (who was preoccupied on their phones 90% of the time) that "we were next." To be honest- if my parents weren't with us at the time I would have thrown a fit. The lack of professionalism and blatant disregard from the staff was a little upsetting. Why have a reservation system if you do not honor it? By the time we were seated, things didn't get much better. Service was incredibly slow, and we ended up waiting almost 20 minutes for our drinks. By the time we had ordered, got our drinks, and had finally ordered it was 9:15. When we got our food, there were several mistakes with the orders, ranging from incorrect meal as a whole, to wrong sides. I had ordered the Jalisco, which came with shrimp, steak, and chicken. I had to wait a bit for the tortillas (which we were first given flour over corn)- by then we all know that this whole meal was a wash. While part of my frustration was in part of the time waiting, the portion and quality of food for the price was awful. I saw similar families voice the same frustration at the end of the night, and I do hope that management does something. read more

This is my first time eating at this particular location. But no matter what location I go to, the service is always phenomenal! I bought a gift card during Christmas so had a $10 off coupon to use before it expired. For lunch I ordered the steak fajitas and my lunch partner ordered the chicken fajitas. They were both fantastic and honestly, have never, EVER, had a food complaint at any Uncle Julio's location. They're very consistent and put out delicious food. Their loyalty program is an awesome way to keep customers and get them coming back. So I guess my only gripe is that I wish the staff was trained better to recognize/acknowledge loyalty members and make it easier for us to use our earned incentives. Example: waiter never asked if I was a loyalty member, I had to provide my phone number and name at the END of the meal while waiter had to go ask manager what all of my incentives included in my lunch, because apparently my free dessert has different values at different venues. This particular venue accepts it for everything while the Grapevine location will only accept it for smaller items. The consistency is lacking. But kudos to Alliance Uncle Julio's for being top notch and putting out delicious food with amazing customer service!! read more

We were personally greeted by the Manager, Kyle, and he went out of his way to check on us throughout the night. Our server, Kesha, was a true delight! First time coming to this location, typically we'd go to the uncle Julio's in west Fort Worth but I live in Lewisville now so we met my parents half way in alliance. Side note: the traffic and construction was pretty brutal. Hadn't been to that area in years and had no idea. I made a reservation on Wednesday for a Saturday dinner at 6:30. We arrived on time, told the hostess we were there and she said they're cleaning our table. 10 mins later I received the text that our table was ready. On our way to the table I asked if the air was out and she said yes but only at the very front of the restaurant. Our table was about 15 feet from the front door. My parents arrive and my mom looks at me with big eyes and says wow it's hot in here! The restaurant was not at full capacity. My mom asks the hostess if we could possibly move tables to get in an area where the a/c was working. The hostess stated we'd have to wait 25 min for another table. I looked around at my table and was able to find at least 10 empty tables near us at the front of the restaurant empty and when walking to the bathroom saw another 10-15 empty tables in the back where it was cooler. I completely understand how restaurants work-- people have sections and you have to keep things even between waiters however exceptions should've been made as it was really very hot in there. Some people, like myself have invisible illnesses that cause heat intolerance. By the time my food came I was nauseated from being hot-- it was 82° up front on the a/c unit. Initially we thought about just going somewhere else but traffic was so bad, we didn't know any other restaurants near by and had no idea if we'd have to wait for a table. We were there for my husbands birthday and I did not want to inconvenience my family. I am now home, nauseated with a migraine from eating at this restaurant with no actual air conditioning. I show from reading comments that the air was out over a week ago. Why couldn't anyone say anything when I called or the website had a little note? Accommodations should've been made to make sure people were only sat in the back (where the air was at least tolerable at 77°). Instead I will spend the next few days recovering from a flare up from eating at your restaurant. The food was okay, the waiter seemed new but was nice however you could tell all of the employees were hot, tired and frustrated. Wow! I was a little meaty ordering delivery from Uncle Julio's! I'm so glad we did! We ordered the famiky dinner of enchiladas, came with rice, beans, chips quac, rice, salsa and even churros! Food and service have gone down a lot in the last few years. A bowl of warm queso is $12.50! We had to ask them to warm it up twice so the cheese wouldn't be so thick. Water glasses left out on tables is disgusting to me. People walk around them, cough, sneeze - just blah! Give out the glasses when you seat the customers, please. They charge $2.25 for tortillas and they were undercooked and oily. This used to be our go-to place for good food and drinks and sadly we won't be back. read more

We come here at least once a month, typically a weekend, and never have had any crazy wait times. The restaurant is beautiful and large and offers tons of seating. Food is awesome. Never had a issue any time we have dined here. Queso is delicious. Love their chips and salsa. The salsa is awesome and has a smokey flavor to it. I love it. Drinks are always great. Uncle Julio's is always busy, but I do feel like our server may have been a little distracted on this visit. Despite the mediocre service, the food was delicious. It ALWAYS is. We ordered beef tacos, fish tacos and beef enchiladas. The slaw on the fish tacos is pretty amazing and the agave queso on the enchiladas had a nice spicy kick! Can we talk about the dessert though?! We had the chocolate lover's piñata and OH MY GOSH it was amazing! It's a little pricey, but if you have their app they often send out coupons. I happened to have a coupon for a free chocolate piñata with the purchase of 3 entrees. The presentation is amazing but what's Inside is even better! It comes stuffed with churros, chocolate empanadas and strawberries. It is served with fresh whipped cream, chocolate sauce and caramel...definitely worth the price! read more

Horrible pick up experience. Ordered food around 4pm, they said it estimated pick up was at 4:45pm. Arrived around 4:40, and ten minutes later was told food was not finished cooking. Food was not brought out until 5:15pm - 30 minutes AFTER our pick up time. It doesn't take over an hour after placing dinner order to serve customers in the restaurant, so why would it be ok with take-out customers? If it's that busy, then website should reflect it. Also, food was cold when we got it, so what exactly took so long to cook?? Nothing was even hot!! Food was mediocre at best. Got the fire street tacos, asked for no jalapeños peppers, but of course they included it anyway website says it comes with Mexican rice (doesn't say anything about beans), but our order came with beans too? So our extra side of beans that we ordered was unnecessary in the end. Corn tortillas broke upon heating and handling, could not eat tacos with hand. Chips were stale. Later in the evening on Friday night, sat at the bar. Not too busy, but steady patronage. Ordered a margarita (rocks) to start, and all was good. Got some chips and salsa, and that was fine. Ordered a beer soon thereafter, and was handed an unopened can. Odd. Asked for a glass, and one was dropped off. My fajita order came out in good time, and while the meat was good, the onions and peppers were unimpressive: an afterthought. I'm used to a steaming hot skillet with the vegetables still cooking when delivered: this was definitely not that. Also, I had to wait five minutes for tortillas because 'they were out.' Next up, ordered a 'swirl' margarita.... it came in a warm mug, and was 75% sangria. Melted to a pure liquid in a couple minutes. Another bartender came by towards the end and ended up improving things, by providing cold mugs with already poured beers with a lime. Overall, a 2/5 rating is fair. read more

I'm struggling with this review because I have mixed feelings. I'm trying to decide between 3 and 4 stars. Here's why: For Mexican food - super duper expensive and not a lot of quantity. I thought the quality was there, but the quantity left me hungry. Now with that said, they seem to have extremely good happy hour deals. We'll definitely be back to check those out. We sat at the bar like we normally do and we were greeted very quickly. The bar tender is the main reason why I've decided to give 4 stars. Great personality, walked us through the menu as this was our first time here. Gave us recommendations on what to order, and overall was just pleasant to work with. OH - this solidifies 4 stars - We needed silverware and when he picked up forks for us, he looked at them and immediately put them down as they were dirty. We watched him go to the back and pick up new forks that were clean. We VERY much appreciated that. He actually did this twice as I asked for a small plate for my fajitas and the same situation occurred. So excellent effort by him. Drinks - I ordered the El Jefe Margarita which was AWESOME (it's about 2 drinks too). Tequila marinated in Jalapeno & Habanero peppers. The drink gives you a spicy sensation without killing you. Your glass is garnished with a jalapeno. Excellent. My wife had the sangria which was perfect. Sweet and tasty. Food - As I said before I ordered the steak & chicken fajitas. The flavor was very good (steak was a little thick for my preference) and the chicken was good. The dish comes with all of the fixings (peppers, onions, rice, beans, cheese, guac etc). Two complaints about this dish. Peppers and Onions. Should be reprinted as 'entire onion, two slices of green pepper'. I really like peppers so I was slightly disappointed by this. Also as I mentioned up top. Not enough meat. Maybe the quantity by weight was there, but because things were sliced so thick (3 pieces of each chicken and steak...seriously) that it didn't feel like enough food for 18 dollars. My wife ordered a cup of tortilla soup. Very tasty, pretty spicy and overall very good. The only problem - quantity to price ratio. I don't know if we were charged wrong or what, but almost 7 dollars for a cup is kinda outrageous if you ask me. Before we left we asked the bar tender about their happy hour deals and honestly, that sounds like when you really need to go. MUCH cheaper drinks and food. We will go back to try those out.
