Great location, decent parking and lovely outdoor seating. I have been here many times and generally it has been great. This time, was a bit of a mess. Lovely summers day so I decided to sit out on the patio. I ordered a beer. I got a bottle (assumed it was draft) but no glass. I asked for a glass and I was given an ornate *tiny* glass that probably holds their house margarita. See attached photo. OK... I have had their filet mignon fajitas before and they are/were excellent. I ordered the regular flank fajitas. When they did come, there was no sizzle and the entire platter was warm. Not sizzling from the kitchen, but warm. Meat was ok but there were no beans and lord knows why but 2 tiny tortillas. Why is that even a thing? Flavour on the meat was completely missing. I looked around and I could not help but notice the place is empty. Sadly things are not going in a good direction at this location. The manager came by and asked how everything was. Poor guy. I let him know how my experience has been going and he was nodding and understanding and apologized. He said they had new menus etc a few weeks ago and I get the sense he had recently started there. Not sure what is going on, but the "new" menu is significantly stripped down from the voluminous tome they had before. I could. not even find chimis for example. Anyway, the manager said the meal was on him, and I suggested I pay for the beer so I can tip the girl. Seemed like the right thing to do. Think its over? Hang on reader. The new electronic billing device was left on the table. "Take your time" I was told, so I finished my meal and went to pay the bill. This device has a timeout feature LOCKED IT FROM THE CUSTOMER so I could not read or pay the bill. So I had to go into the restaurant, find a server and have them unlock it so I can give them money. I was surprisingly impressed with Uncle Julio's. I brought the kids after climbing at the adventure park nearby. The fajitas were among the best I've ever had. The tortillas are hand made, soft and fluffy and they give you plenty of them. The chicken was moist and the steak was perfectly cooked. They use this Mexican butter that elevates the flavors but is not too greasy. The margarita was delish. Not watered down like most you get at chain restaurants. The chocolate piñata was the perfect ending to a great meal. Everything in it is good. Pineapple, churros, strawberries. Only complaint is it needs to be filled with more goodies. If they don't fit, maybe just put more on the plate. For $40 you should get more dessert, but the birthday message and presentation were a nice touch. Lastly, our server was amazing. He gave great recommendations, entertained the kids and made our night. They earned their 5 stars! read more

This location is wonderful if you are planning on shopping in the area/seeing a movie! Great for a meal or a snack. I thought the food/quality/portion size of the food was all wonderful! Our server wasn't knowledgable about GF food but he brought over the manager who was, so I super appreciated that. I will say, our service was not super great (knocking my review down from a 5 to a 4). I'm writing this on behalf of co workers who ordered through door dash. They ordered $200 worth of food. The entire order was in shambles. EVERYTHING was incorrect. The tortilla shell was broken. The "large" queso wasn't even full. The meat was cold and not cooked properly. The salad was wilted and not fresh. There was no fixings for the fajitas. There was one tiny small scoop of sour cream in a cup. I'm giving 3 stars because the manager victor was an absolute ANGEL. He made a bad situation into a good one. Since it was ordered through door dash uncle Julio's could not issue a direct refund. However victor said they would remake the entire order on their end. Then to call door dash so they could issue a refund/redeliver the order. Door dash issued a $100 refund but couldn't redeliver the order. So the Uncle Julio's manager Victor decided to deliver the order himself. The re ordered food was so much better. Everything was included and correct. Victor even included $100 worth of food vouters. Baffled by refusal to provide my friend the dish he requested. He requested chicken, steak, shrimp fajitas and was told he CANT order that. Huh? The server said it was not allowed. Food, service and ambiance.... AWFUL. Been to nearly all Uncle Julio's in DC area, it has gone down hill. Nothing is fresh anymore. It seems like from scratch is no more. Servers are terrible due to lack of knowledge with their menus. Servers could not even describe one drink out of 4 drinks we ordered. Extremely expensive menu prices for a fake mediocre Tex-Mex... No wonder this company was almost bankrupt and saved at the last moment by a B rated restaurant group. The place wasn't that busy and it took an hour to get all of our food. Drinks were slow. Everything was very expensive. Portions were small. Our server was not very attentive, we had to find another server to let our server know we were ready to order. They didn't split the bill properly either. Came back here for lunch and got my usual. I'll say, it's always the same. The flavor is hard to best. I haven't found another place with good Carne Asada around Loudoun. Service was great. Be prepared to be shocked at the new prices! Two people $75! Me and my son!! Despite the ups and downs in service and constant changes in food, we still go back periodically. At 4:40 they said every table was reserved, despite 2/3 of the tables empty. We sat at the bar, which was quite nice. Overall this place has gone from good to bad, to horrible, to fantastic, now back to mediocre. Only thing that seems to have remained constant is the dark salsa/chips, but now they have a new red salsa which isn't too bad. The steak fajita flavor is still fantastic, but they changed the delivery/set up again and the beans are now more like a soup and are really terrible. Always order a temp below what you want as they will over cook it 80% of the time. One Julio's gold, which seems to be renamed to "the" Margarita was $12.75, same small size. Wow. I went to uncle Julio's recently for my birthday with my family and our server was so nice, she got everything we needed. The manager on the shift was Tatiana she was also very sweet. This place use to be very good many years ago. We used to go often for good food and a fun time. We stopped going a few years back when the food and service had gone downhill but we decided to give them another try now after several years. Service was good. Food is still very poor. Quality of food is just not good. Not very tasty and poor quality ingredients. It also wasn't very clean inside the place and there were not many people inside even though it was a Saturday night. Positives - we were greeted warmly when we arrived and when we left, and our waiter was very nice. That's what the 2 stars are for, as opposed to no stars. TL;DR: Friendly, warm service was great. It seems the chips one out of a bag and the tortillas are pretty bad (if you can even get one) Quality has been going down. This time .... Salsa thin but still tastes ok. Guac good. Queso good. Ribs were meh. Chicken and steak fajitas are now served with potatoes and corn (corn taste Ike it came out of a can and then they spice it up ). Instead of the plate of guac.cheese sour cream. The food was good aside from a cooking error and service was OK, aside from the server being very busy with her cleanup and setup at her station. , telling us at dinner she had voices in her head, that she kept hearing. That was the highlight of the dinner. We ordered and I chose the taco salad and my wife the chicken rice bowl and asked for no beans. However, when the entrees arrived they brought out her bowl with black beans. So we stopped the very busy server to ask her to take it back and have it corrected, she did so and it arrived back at the table in ten minutes with beans still in it. It looks like they lifted food off the top, scooped some of the beans out, and put a new topping on it because there were still beans left in the bottom of the bowl. How could you remake it and accidentally throw in like half a dozen or more? As for my taco salad, it was nicely presented, and my wife told me to go ahead and eat even though hers was still not at the table. The tortilla chips were crisp, and the two salsas were nice. Wow - it's been awhile since I visited this location but here I am, I figured they were pretty solid - last time I was here I rated them 4 stars but today I am lowering for several reasons. First off, the place was packed with diners and from what I could tell, every table was just as it was located close to each other. I was worried a bit but was glad we got in the bar with high chair for 2 that was well-social distanced. Out waitress came after about 5 minutes with a bowl of chips and salsa so that was nice. Although she did not say much, we went ahead and ordered our drinks after already checking them out ahead of time. Waitress seemed nice and was not pushy but we could tell she was helping several tables in and around the bar area. After about another 5 minutes she came back with our drinks: Pacifico beer for hubby and strawberry/mango lemonade for me. She then walked away. Another 5 minutes passed by before she came back but we were okay, not in a hurry. We then gave her our order: carne asada for hubby and I had shrimp fajita. When the food was delivered, the shrimp fajita was sizzling as was expected but the shrimp were very small in portion and in popcorn sizes. Taste wise it was nothing special, in fact, it was very salty! I only had a bite of it and I was done. The carne asada tasted slightly okay but it wasn't what it once was prior to Covid - quality was subpar as the small shrimp fajita. The tortilla taco was dense and it tasted bland and doughy - it did not taste nor look like a Mexican tortilla. It feels uncooked. Rice was colorful but was lacking in flavor and the shrimp fajita overall was very salty! It was such a disappointing meal because of its poor quality. And wort - What happened to the usual carne asada? The one served on us did not have the chargrilled texture and this skirt steak was not the usual carne asada that drew us back. I reviewed the picture from old carne asada to the one they served today. Lools like they serve us skirt steak fajita and not the chargrilled asada. They need to reassess how they identify as a "FINE MEXICAN" because it was not even good - it was average like the kind you hear other folks complained of much lower priced chains. Absolutely disappointing! I couldnt even get our waitress to check it because she was missing and never checked on us. My hubby had to go to the bartender cashier to let them know we were ready to check out because we couldnt find our waitress after waiting so long to ask her about the carne asada which was a skirt fajita they served. Have been coming here for many years, we had one bad visit a few weeks ago, but we were happy to learn it was definitely just a one time experience on a tough day. We returned this week and the restaurant and bathrooms were spotless, food was spectacular, and the service was amazing! Management went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our latest visit. Fabulous! Service was great! Fantastic feel, loved the decor, even down to the glasses used for water service! And the Food is outstanding! We're from Texas and we get a little desperate for TexMex when we're traveling lol Uncle Julios was awesome! Wonderful fluffy homemade tortillas, queso was great, fajitas were off the chart!
