I came in during the rush so I expected to wait for a table but they got me to one much quicker than I have expected. Again also because of the rush everybody seemed to have their hands full so I did not mind waiting (I am a server so I understand the pain). I stopped by for some fajitas and margaritas. The good: They upgraded the beer selection and now carry Ballast Point Sculpin. The bad: The liquor selection at the bar is still terrible. I got a pour of Glenfiddich 12. If they didn't have that, I would have skipped whiskey altogether. The ugly: My margarita was served with table salt on the rim of the glass instead of margarita salt. I seriously considered sending it back and refusing to pay for it. But it was still very good, so I wiped off the salt drank it anyway. I asked my server if they use table salt instead of margarita salt. She gave me a somewhat long and incoherent answer. After she was finished I had no idea if it meant yes or no. Very disappointed in their service, lot of customers but the serving people are low. There is no greeting or formal communication, just our server was running from one table to other serving so many tables , and cleaning all the tables. Its like one person doing so many things, one way we felt bad but she was not up to the mark like serving people properly or taking care of things what she was suppose to do. I am a BIG Uncle Julio's fan (Manassas/Woodbridge locations, usually) but this experience was less than great. The complementary salsa tasted watered down and bland. I usually am able to appreciate that it has a little spice to it but the consistency was watery, as well as the flavor. I ordered the chicken flautas and it was just ok. Nothing to write home about. I feel like I could have gotten more and spent less by going to Baja Fresh. I will say, my frozen strawberry margarita was good. The customer service was also very good as well. The food was just blah. If I want Uncle Julios again, I'll stick to my usual locations. (I did hear that the Bourbon, Burgers, and Beer place across the street was AWESOME. Let's start with, I wanted to like Uncle Julio's as "down by the schoolyard" kept popping into my head. Let's cover the good, and ugly at our meal. The good: The service was good but for a minor hiccup at the bar. The fajita meat was tasty, as was the ground beef in the flautas. Lastly, the salsa was quite good. The bad & ugly in one: -Flavorless cheese; the shredded cheese was a flavorless substance which looked like cheese. -Greasy chips; when the chips coat your finger tips, I find it disgusting. I sent them back, & the second set was even worse. They are only greasy because the fryer is overloaded. Holy crap guys this isn't rocket surgery! -undercooked beans; the sauce had a decent flavor, but they were dry and grainy. By this point, I was so disappointed I just couldn't fight it anymore. Would I go back? Not a chance. Would I recommend someone eat there? If I did not like the person & held a grudge. read more

The service was OUTSTANDING. As a server myself great service is always a good (yet hard) thing to come by. Every single server was helpful and willing to take an order. They were on top of refilling waters and drinks, they pre-bussed everything and they were SUPER nice. The food came out fast and DELICIOUS even though the restaurant was packed and the drinks came out quickly also. They're willing to sit you anywhere without a fuss. Steak fajitas were ok, but the salad with shrimp was terrible. We should have sent it back. The greens were tired and the shrimp were very small. The shrimp in the menu photo appeared to be medium to large and attractive. False advertising. Hard to believe this restaurant is related to Uncle Julio's in Reston. The service was cheerful but slow. One Loudoun has a lot of attractive restaurants and businesses. This isn't one of them. read more

We headed straight for the bar area upon arrival and took some seats on the edge. There was plenty of seating and we were greeted right away. We ordered two margaritas, the Casa Amigos and Strawberry, but found them to be just okay. The flavor was good but we could barely discern the tequila, even though the Casa Amigos came with a floating shot. For food, we asked for the steak fajita nachos with light cheese. The nachos took a while and ended up having extra cheese. In the end we just ate the steak off the top which was cooked nicely. One complaint I have with the chairs next to the bar is the foot rest and the kick bar prevent the chair from being pulled up close to the counter so I end up sitting on the edge of the chair while eating. read more

One of my local favorites! Eddie is the best bartender in Northern Virginia! Maria is pretty awesome too though! Tableside Guacamole is pretty consistently good and the Carne Asada is always a tasty choice with cheese enchiladas and refried beans. Went to Uncle Julio's for a work happy hour - I didn't dislike their One Loudoun location, but it wasn't really a stand out experience. Our server was polite and nice, but just from coming to our table a lot in the beginning when we weren't ready to order and not entirely knowing the happy hour specials, I am assuming he was newer. You can't really go wrong with a Swirl, my favorite drink there, but I found the cheese quesadilla to be a bit overpriced for an appetizer. My advice to Uncle Julio's, especially in an area with a lot of businesses, is to have the happy hour written somewhere or have a separate menu for it. The service was great and the fajitas were excellent (as always). We had the table side guacamole because my my husband and kids like to use the freshly made dip with their chips. Our server was very nice and had drinks, chips and salsa refills ready before we ran out. It was a great afternoon! My only request is that we get more meat for the $$ on our fajitas. We have been loyal Rio Grande patrons since 1991-92 when they first opened in Reston, and our only issue is consistency of quantity of Chicken/Steak per order. Hard to fine good Mexican food with good service in Leesburg area. This place has the best salsa and chips. Served warm and not like cold minced tomatoes with juice from a can; chips thin and warm, not hard and cold. Their service is good and the management cares about their diners. They definitely have the best service and food of any Mexican food along with another best choice, Chewy's in the Leesburg/Ashburn areas. Made our reservation online, were there on time, and despite the place being very busy, we were immediately seated, and welcomed very friendly by the general manager. Our server (Seneca) was attentive, kind, knowledgeable and never pushy. We enjoyed our food: I was not crazy about the smokey salsa (chipotle?), but that's a matter of personal preference, not quality. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. We chose the guac/queso combination for appetizer, and the beef skirt steak fajitas: simple and delicious. As for the drinks, I tried the margarita of the day: watermelon. I was a little afraid that it was going to be too sweet, but it absolutely wasn't and I really liked that one too. I love this place. The atmosphere is laid back but far more upscale than what you usually imagine when you want Tex-mex. I had the following: -Table Side guac: TO DIE FOR!!! Best guacamole ever. My bf and I both loved it. -Veggie Fajitas: these were delicious as well. The sauce they cook the fajitas in is something I've never tasted before and have the dish an updated feel. They can be a little bit on the pricer side for Mexican but it is so worth it. Last time I dined with them I also enjoyed the fresh watermelon margaritas they had. Man, I gave this place so many chances. A few weeks ago, I called in and ordered a bunch of food to go: 2 guadalaras (which is steak fajitas and shrimp fajitas wrapped in bacon) a bunch of appetizers (including ceviche that I usually LOVE from here) and the lady only took down my name (no phone #) - I thought that was strange but I live 5 min away so who cares. I arrive there 10 min. after my pickup time to ensure my foods ready, it wasn't. The bartender asked me if anyone called me - I said no since no one took down my number. She informed me that they were out of the bacon wrapped shrimp and if I wanted to wait for them to give me something else. I thought WOW your one job was to get my name, number, and order - that's it. I was annoyed and asked if they had normal shrimp, they did...I waited around 15 minutes and a manager brought my food - gave a lousy apology and informed me they no longer make ceviche ...again, this is as he's handing me my food I now waited over an hour for...he said he took it off the bill (WELL DUH) and gave me desert for free (I'm not a huge fan of their deserts so very useless for me) I was annoyed and left. Went there again last night and guess what, they still have ceviche so I was lied to. Except, the ceviche tasted different. As if someone dropped it in a swimming pool before they brought it out to me. I give this place a chance every time, but I'm done. I found a new spot that's half the price and has waaaaaay better food. read more

I have been eating at Uncle Julios for many years and my go to one is the one in Reston Town Center. I have to admit during the entire time I always get the fajitas -- chicken or steak and for the very first time I tried something different. Like one of the other reviews mentioned, if it is not the fajitas you are eating, the other food is not that great. It's missing the spices. The drinks are always on point along with the chips and salsa. The new location is very nice and a lot more room than the Reston location. Seemed very similar to the one in Fairfax. The service was great too and we didn't have a long wait. Will always eat at Uncle Julios but I will definitely have to stick to the fajitas. The food was good but our server was extremely rude. About fifteen and twenty minutes after our food was served he interrupted our conversation to ask if I was finished while I still had food on my fork and my plate was not empty and the plate of my guest was half full. I told him that I will tell him when I am finished. A few minutes later he came by to ask if we wanted deserts, we said; not now. And yet a few minutes later he did put the bill on the table. But he ignored us when we wanted to order some drinks and ask for hot sauce. Finally another server got that for us. It was not too late and still other guests were coming in so I don't know what happened to that guy. Also one thing I am wondering, do they recycle the chips? While waiting for the food we finished the free chips they put on the table and we asked for a second batch, the second one, some chips were salty and there was a bit of sauce on one of the chips. Maybe they add chips to the ones that are not finished and serve it again? I really would like to know, at least we stopped eating them. read more

When we got there at 5:30pm, the hostess told me the wait for 4 would be 45 minutes. As soon as we turned around, she quickly told me there was a table available now (woohoo)! The service was good. Our server was friendly but not necessarily the best, most energetic I've ever had. I highly recommend the queso, chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce, and swirl (1/2 frozen margarita, 1/2 frozen sangria).
