Chicago Italian Beef Sandwich
David S.

I really wanted this place to be special. It just wasn't. I went there for the pastrami but it just didn't measure up to my expectations. If I were to go there again I'd ask them/him to leave the sauerkraut off, the onions off and to serve it on the same bun they use for Italian beet with just mustard and pickles. There were just too many clashing flavors and smells that just didn't belong. The pickles were delicious. We asked for the sauce for the Italian beef to be served on the side. They ignored that request and made the bread so soggy you couldn't even try to eat it by hand. It actually could have been a credible sandwich. The dry parts of the bread were very good.

Chicago dogs and fries, yum!

Really delicious! When they say hot peppers, they mean hot! We enjoyed Chicago dogs, split and Italian combo and fries. The Chicago dogs were full of toppings, authentic Chicago dog flavor! The Italian combo had juicy beef and a well flavored sausage. Definitely will be back... the local fountain sodas were very good! Give them a try!

Decently priced food in a cute lil hidden spot! Just okay! They do have a large variety tho. Hot dogs, sandwiches, burgers, milkshakes, sides, etc! Food wasn't too bad! Just a little over cooked. I def think it has potential if they toned down the heat. I ordered the spicy Cajun brat & the juicy Lucy. The Cajun brat was really missing the heat. I couldn't taste any cajun seasoning nor spice... It was def a good grilled brat but just lacking. The juicy Lucy was pretty juicy tho! The cheese was pouring out! Just a tad bit over cooked in my opinion, it would def be godly if it was medium rare instead of well done. Seating was a lil cramped inside. There's tons more seating outside which is great on a nice cool day. The service was very nice as well. I 100% recommend ordering their craft sodas tho. It's locally based here in Minnesota and it's delicious. Will 100% be back just for the soda lol. (The strawberry soda is so GOOD) Overall, it was just okay. I would like to give them another shot in the future. :)

Great Chicago style hotdog joint in Minneapolis that I found while traveling on business. The owner is a legit Chicago native (Sox Fan but don't hold it against him) who is friendly and welcoming to first timers. I tried the Coney Island chili dog and it was pretty good. I also tried the southside Maxwell polish dog and it was awesome. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Minneapolis.

I will frame this review: This is a divey fast food place. Menu is expansive but limited at the same time (I mean, its brats and fried food I get it), not the most inviting location but it absolutely has character. But for what it is, its perfect in my opinion. The guy working the counter was an absolute character, almost overly friendly and made me feel right at home the first time there. Helped me decide on the Northeast dog in my pictures, was an absolutely phenomenal dog with local character. Definitely stopping there on the way back/to a brewery is the way to go.

This small hot dog/burger restaurant in Northeast Minneapolis was an overall fun experience. After looking through the menu, I decided on what is supposed to be their signature hot dog, the "Chicago Dog." I'm not a huge hot dog person in general, but the blend of flavors from the many ingredients, including their secret special seasoning, changed my perception of what can be done with a hot dog. In one of my attached photos, you can see how much was going on with the toppings. It was overall pretty tasty. That being said, there was nothing super special about the place or the food/ingredients themselves - which I always especially hope for when trying out a more niche, small restaurant that specializes in certain foods.

Ordered this from door dash and I was highly disappointed! Please make this right!

I know you guys were closing but this is unacceptable! I really like your guys food but rushing something and giving to customers isn't it! Please make this right!

Uncle Franky's is a gem. The place is small with limited seating. There is a small patio. Small parking lot. My husband and I were heading to the Disney Animation Immersive Disney Experience nearby. I had a plain regular hot dog as I was not feeling adventurous. (Long day as work. I wasn't in the mood to be adventurous.) Thankfully they were able to accommodate this. The staff members were friendly even though they were half hour 'til closing. They also carried MinneSoda. We will definitely need to come back. They have things on their menu that we'd like to try.

Carolina Slaw Dog - Aka Ol' Dixie

Cool hole-in-the-wall type restaurant. Ordered the Carolina Slaw dog and enjoyed the huge load of chili and slaw on it. The actual dog itself is the red kind that snaps with a chewy casing, if that's your thing. Staff were nice and it was quick to come out. I did really enjoy the Minnesodas that are served there. The cola was delicious and wish I would've tried more!

This place is a tremendous value. To think that eating here is CHEAPER than fast food is amazing. The fries were especially good. Crispy and salted appropriately. They were served piping hot, straight from the fryer. We had to wait a long time for our food, they accidentally lost our ticket... however, this experience made me enjoy the experience because I was able to witness their incredible customer service to make things right. It was a very friendly staff! I'll be back! The soft fresh buns... mmm.

Bring lots of cash cuz you're gonna want to try the double cheeseburger AND the famous Juicy Lucy. I don't ever get the juicy Lucy because it comes out to piping hot and I don't wanna wait 10 minutes to eat my food lol. Their french fries are just like McDonald's french fries but it taste a lot more fresh. It is so good. You're gonna want to get a full basket. When I go to new cities, I typically seek out food that is specific to the region and thus a little more interesting to me. You can get a burger anywhere, and a cheese filled patty, aka a "Juicy Lucy", didn't sound like something I needed to try. But my husband kept talking about it and really seemed bent on having one so we decided to come here to try it out. We showed up during their happy hour, from 4-5pm, and they had $5 draft beers. Score! It's a cute place with ample seating, nice natural light from the large windows, and a relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the Juicy Lucy, a burger patty stuffed with cheese and topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and pub sauce. I chose the Impossible patty version, but you can also get it with their house made black bean burger. Hubby chose the Garlic Girl, a black bean cheeseburger topped with bacon (also made in-house), berbere aioli, lettuce, and pickled onion. Each burger came with fries. Both burgers were spectacular and delicious in their own way. The bacon on hubby's burger was incredible, and his burger was rich and satisfying. By my Juicy Lucy, oh my... Every bite was a flavor explosion and intensely delicious without being a gut bomb shockingly. To top it off, the fries were super crispy and just perfect. WOW is all I can say. Note that while the prices may seem a little higher than what you might expect, Francis Burger is a no tipping establishment, as stated on their menu. For the quality of the food and the great service, it was well worth the price! I'll be back if I'm ever in this area again.f

I wasn't overly impressed but it was enjoyable and I appreciated what appeared to be an intentionally crafted meal. I didn't try the fries or soft serve so that's next time! It was efficient but far better than just a "fast food pickup" or traditional counter service restaurant. I also have to say-- efficiency was great. The line was long but was helped quick! PARKING: always hard in Linden Hill. Street parking in neighborhood nearby is the best. Plan for a 5 min walk. AMBIANCE: far better than a typical counter service restaurant but not quite a dine in restaurant feel. Still, I'd bring friends even if I wanted a dine in restaurant because they've done a good job at this concept.

Food 5/5: We are big BBQ fans, and I believe this is the best BBQ in the twin cities. We had the chips and queso, St. Louis style ribs, pork belly, mac and cheese, dilly beans, beans, apple pizza, peanut butter pie, and both old fashions. The chips are homemade and so good! Lightly salted and the perfect amount. Of crunchy. The ribs and pork belly were warm, tender, and spiced perfectly. Everything we had was well spiced, and overall high quality with exception to the Mac and cheese, not much flavor but would be perfect for a kids meal but didn't match their overall level of the other food. Service 5/5: they use a QR code ordering system. Everything we ordered came within 10 -20 minutes of ordering. Silverware and all other essentials are located at your table, but there were people around to ask if you needed anything. Ambiance 4/5: when this space is full it is very loud. If there is a band playing you won't be able to hear table conversation. Something else to note, you may share a table with another group, so if that's a deal breaker to you know that is their style. They have a kid space which was packed, but overall an amazing thing to offer. Overall if you're ok with a loud and crowded space, this place is great. Overall we loved this new location.
