Every year a group of friends and I go on a bbq road trip. It wasnt until this trip that I ever had real brisket. Georgia is pulled pork country and to be honest pulled pork doesnt require much talent. Brisket, on the other hand, requires talent or it ends up pot roast. Uncle Chet's brisket is pot roast. It was tender but had no smoke flavor or taste. Just fatty meat, which is why the brisket sandwich came with sauce already on it. GOOD BBQ needs NO sauce. The 3 stars comes the fact that the mac n cheese wasn't horrible and they gave an EMS discount for on duty paramedics. This place, like most bbq spots in Georgia, is great for the untrained sauce loving "bbq" fan... but for me and people who know... if it needs sauce, it sucks. If this place is 5 stars, you need to travel a little to understand what I mean. 3 stars is generous. read more

Bland. Bland. Bland. Came on a Saturday while doing a bit of estate sales with my husband. I got their burnt ends plate with Mac and cheese and their stew. My husband got their pork sandwich plate with baked beans and fries. Their sides are lacking any kind of flavor and soul... Which is sad because to me the sides at a BBQ place should shine just like the BBQ does.... The burnt ends were really fatty and lacking flavor. Hate when a place puts sauce on stuff for you... Don't do that!!! The customer should be the sauce king... Plus your meat should be able to be tasted without sauce first!!! The pork plate sandwich was a panini? Very odd... Cheesy and overall bland bbq.... Baked beans were just bushes baked beans from a can... No extra seasoning or soul added... Just...a no for us. If wanting so good bbq... Go somewhere else. read more

Super bummed! We just moved here and only a few miles from this location. Wasn't sure from the outside (attached to gas station), but the inside is surprisingly nice - with a few tables and I noticed two high chairs which would be essential for my family. I ordered carry out and picked up - service was great. Young ladies working were wonderful. The issue was the food. My husband and I have lived in VA, NC and now GA - always checking out local bbq when we travel as well. Third bbq location we have tried here locally. This might be one of the worst ones we ever had unfortunately. Pulled pork was meh, brisket was over cooked and dry, Mac and cheese was definitely the worst I've ever had with no flavor, dry, the only hint of cheese were the huge globs of burnt cheese (which some people like, but not my thing). Also the first pasta dish that my toddler wouldn't touch which was shocking. The standard sauce was overly sweet and less flavor than our standard bbq sauces we get from the grocery store. Vinegar sauce was nothing to write home about. Beans were also underwhelming. Last minute, I ordered blueberry cobbler which I saw as a special and is one of my favorites. The texture was so weird! Like jelly, no cobbler/crust/crumble at all. There was a weird bitter after taste. Another thing that my fruit obsessed toddler even hated and we just tossed. Didn't try the ribs - saw that there's a grilled cheese option which would be good for kids too, but not sure if we will ever give this one another try again. read more

Was dissatisfied with the bbq. I got the pulled pork plate with the spicy vinegar based sauce. It was not spicy at all but extremely salty. I couldn't eat it. I got stew and coleslaw for my sides. Stew was a tomato based stew and was really good! May be my new favorite! I got some of the banana pudding which I wasn't a big fan of either. I will def go back for the stew and will have to try another sauce next time. It smelled too good in there for them not to have good bbq. After a second attempt I will not go back. Delicious new BBQ joint that just opened today after much anticipation! Totally worth the wait! Award winning Uncle Chet was in the back preparing the meals as the most amazing smells wafted from the kitchen. I had the sliced pork plate with stew. The pork was moist and flavorful, not too smokey....just perfect. The stew was not chunky or completely blended but a nice medium texture. Atmosphere is cozy and the walls are peppered with Uncle Chet's BBQ awards. I enjoyed looking around. Can't wait to try to ribs, brisket, and chicken!!! Currently, they are only offering chopped pork, sliced pork, and chopped chicken until final approval from the county. (Waiting on an extra fridge to come in).....since my original post UCB has begun serving their award winning brisket which I've heard is out of this world! I will be getting it this Thursday! Also, and I love this part....UCB has 32 oz Yetis for sale for only $29.95 that are cool and you can bring them back anytime with a food purchase for a free drink! This little spot is around the corner from us and it's a regular favorite. The food is always good and the service is always kind and attentive. My grandfather loves this place and they always take such good care of getting him his ribs! And it's never a bad thing to drive home to the smell of smoking BBQ! read more

This place was disappointing the Burnt ends was Nasty. The fish was crumbily the Mac and cheese was Nasty.The service was the only thing good I will not be back. I drove 2 and a 1/2 hours to eat at this place Which was a waste of time. read more

These aren't your average smoked meats folks! I've eaten a lot of BBQ throughout the southeast so I know good smoked meat. Their brisket and ribs are in a class of their own. They even have burnt ends which is a rarity. If you've never eaten burnt brisket ends I highly recommend. The brisket and ribs are trimmed up nicely like competition BBQ. This is about as close to competition level BBQ as your going to get at a restaurant. The place is nice and clean. The husband and wife team that run the place are very friendly and accommodating. The sides are fairly standard for a BBQ restaurant. I always wish BBQ restaurants would pair amazing BBQ with fantastic southern vegetables like green beans or black eyed peas but that is just me so don't let that deter you. Do yourself a favor, go out and eat at Uncle Chet's! read more

If you want to pay $8 for a brisket sandwich the size of a McDonalds .99 cent hamburger this is the place to go. My husband got his sandwich and asked the girl up front if they accidentally gave him a slider. She laughed at him and said "It's not about the size, it's about the brisket". Not sure where those five-star reviewers ate, but according to the experience we had this afternoon, it wasn't the same place we did. We ordered to go, with the half-slab rib plate with french fries and coleslaw, two orders of the brisket dog plate - one with beans and slaw, the other with potato salad. Also purchased a cup of burnt tips because I love me some good burnt tips. So - the ribs were okay. Tender but not very flavorful. The fries were very good - hot and crispy, but the coleslaw was clearly past its prime and pretty much inedible. What can I say about the brisket dog, except NO. First of all, the menu does not describe any of the items, so we were left to imagine what it was. After looking at the photos on the web site (which were unlabeled), we decided the picture of a hot dog-looking bun with brisket-ish meat inside was probably the brisket dog. Nope. What you get is a large bun with a couple of thin pieces of brisket on the bottom, slathered with an unidentifiable sauce and one of those huge sausage-y hot dogs like you get at Costco on top. Add to that a scoop of the aforementioned elderly coleslaw and a sprinkling of chopped onions that should've been gotten rid of yesterday and there you have the brisket dog. The super strong smell of the chopped onions has permeated my car and kitchen. Ugh. The potato salad seemed store bought but was okay. To say I was disappointed in the burnt tips is a huge understatement. These gooey blobs of fat swimming in a greasy sauce tasting of cinnamon of all things bore not the slightest resemblance to the crispy bits of the brisket end I associate with burnt ends. I'm pretty sure these chunks of fat were not brisket, but I could be wrong. All in all, a very dismal experience. read more

Very tasty BBQ, tender, Smoked, if you want good ole' southern BBQ this is the place. As a bonus the portions are very generous for the price. I get a half pound of pork or chicken and I can get 4 sandwiches easy of out it. Their backed beans are the best I've ever had and I'm from the south so they are damn good.
