Yes yes yes. A perfect evening! Our sake and sushi were fantastic! We ordered specifically from the Chefs recommended menus. The dishes were imaginative and delicious.

Umi by Eden is a great spot for dinner. They offer dinner starting at 6pm on their first floor & rooftop lounge. The first floor which they call Umi is dimly lit, intimate and romantic - great for date night, business meal &/or special events. the rooftop lounge was more bright, spacious and open. When the windows are open there is fresh air coming in and adds to the ambiance. The service is professional, and attentive. The host is polite and friendly. There is a new sushi chef & we were recommended by locals - we are happy we tried Umi. The menu has a variety of cold & hot options for appetizers & entrees and the cocktail menu is quite extensive. We loved the drinks we selected - market margarita & caymus wine. We also heard lot great things about their lychee martini and we enjoyed that very much! For appetizers we ordered spicy tuna crispy rice, rock shrimp & famous truffle fries - everything was so delicious and portions were good, even generous. For entrees we ordered Spanish Bluefin Tuna Sashimi, Bluefin Toro, Albacore Cut Roll & Black Label Burger - we loved it all! Definitely recommend Umi by Eden in Glendale!! Will come back!!

From the moment I walked in, I was impressed! The décor and atmosphere are beautiful, the service is friendly and attentive, and the food is absolutely delicious. Zack the bartender made the best drinks! Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The music and overall vibe made it the perfect spot for a fun girls' night out, or a cute date!

Umi has only been open for about a month. The original eden burger is now completely at the 3rd floor and Umi by eden takes up the entire first floor. The seating is a mix of tables and lounge style. They also have bar style seating in the middle. Amy was our server/bartender and she was amazing and very sweet. We had spicy tuna hand rolls, popcorn shrimp, and a lemon roll. All of the food tasted great. I had the lychee martini which was sooo good, highly recommend it!

A new and beautiful location below Eden has just opened and we are so excited to be here!! First things first: the moment we walk in the atmosphere, and the vibe is absolutely beautiful. Word of advice: dress to impress. They bring hot towels the moment you sit down. And the menu selection is absolutely wonderful. Fully romantic setting, so if you're looking to take your date, this is the spot for you. Sushi is fresh and delicious. Are we just was a sweetheart can't wait to come back.

Place is elegant and chic. Came here for sushi. Sushi was good, but I usually prefer fresh fish not masked in so much sauce. Service is quick and friendly.

Originally booked Eden's menu but was glad we were able to order sushi from the Umi menu. Was pleasantly surprised. The fish was fresh, delicious, and best sushi I've had in Glendale in a long time. Happy this is a solid sushi option now. Favorites were the lemon roll, lime roll, and spicy tuna on crispy rice.

Dining in Los Angeles often comes at the price of dealing with poor hospitality, but here I experienced some of the best, and the food was even better. We went by the suggestions of our enthusiastic waitress, and they did not disappoint! The food was so good I forgot to take pictures until the end, which I am sure my friends appreciated since I like getting every angle of the dishes when I do. Will post more info for pt. 2 Pt I of my review of the dishes I *need* you to know the journey my taste buds were taken on: CEVICHE MISO CONES (5/5): The ceviche is composed of 4 different types of fish marinated in a tangy yuzu ponzu and scooped like ice cream into these adorable salty, sweet miso sesame cones. The attention to detail and creativity goes down to the mountain of puffed rice the cones are wedged into (they don't taste like much outside of crisp, crunchy air, if that makes sense). UNI TOAST (5/5): Listen, the texture and taste of uni has NEVER sat well with me, but THIS was the surprise of a lifetime (literally and figuratively, the manager sent it as a gift). The brioche toast was crumbly, lightly sweet and oily; the sauces gave a salty, sweet, savory layer; and the Santa Barbra uni was the freshest, mouth melting texture I didn't know could come from uni (maybe I have only ever had bad uni before this, but WOW this has opened my horizons to try uni in the future elsewhere and more confidently) BAKED SALMON HANDROLL (4.5/5): The warm handroll is delivered on sesame speckled soy paper, generously stuffed with rice; buttery hass avocado; perfectly baked rich, fatty King Salmon; and an airy, slightly dulcet kewpie mayo snow crab mix. The only thing I would change is opting for nori paper in the future. NOTE: My friends LOVED the soy paper, but I feel like the salty crunch of nori would better compliment the sweet notes of the handroll. HALIBUT SASHIMI (6/5): My favorite dish of all! The halibut was lightly oceanic, lean, but firm, rolled into upright cyclinders; topped with cilantro flowers and a piquant yuzu pickled thai chili. They were placed in a pool of citrusy heaven (but they call it leche de tigre) with cilantro oil piped parallel to the halibut. If you try anything, try THIS RED SNAPPER SASHIMI (5.1/5): Uni toast was my conversion, this was my best friend's. The japanese red snapper was nutty and delicate in flavor with a firm, but tender texture. As was instructed, I rolled the madai in a bit of everything: Think thick tangy creme fraiche; an almost floral, candied, zesty note from kumquat; hanaho; and a cloud of umami soy-yuzu foam. I may be missing some ingredients, but glad to say I didnt miss out on this unique dish with flavors I never thought would compliment one another. It was sensational and my second favorite dish I tried. The things that happen when you ask! One of my friends is vegetarian and the executive chef was kind enough to help create vegetarian versions of their dishes with his team since we were the only guests there (NOTE: They let us know they normally can't on busy days, but as fate would have it, we lucked out). She was exstatic to be offered more than their vegan lemon roll, and man did they pull out the stops. It wasn't just settling for a cucumber roll... No they went ALL OUT for her. I stole one of her vegan crispy rice with BEETS??? One of the best things I have put into my belly. Gut health and plant based fun? A win is a win.

We were greeted very well at the reception. The wait time to be seated was about 10 minutes. The food was just amazing, very tasty, very beautifully served. We drank sake and it was delicious. The coffee was also excellent. We really enjoyed everything and will definitely come back.

The interior has a modern aesthetic and even on a Wednesday evening, it was packed with a wait. We didn't have to wait too long, but as we ate and had dinner I noticed that it was full consistently. We sat down and they have have a wide array of items on their menu. We went with 3 dinner specials which have a small options (one has tempura, another with a California Roll. and one with Both) safe to we ordered one of each. For Apps we got some Edamame and Kaarage. For Rolls, we went with Rainbow Roll and Catapillar Roll. Starting with apps, the edamame to me was good a touch less salt which was great for my father. The karaage was flavorful with that sesame taste and juicy interiror. To me it was rather small compared to what I am used to, but flavor wise on par. The Rainbow roll is a staple anywhere I go for the first time as that gives me the array of fish with a California roll. The fish was fresh tasting and to me was fine. My slight disappointment was with the Caterpillar Roll, my parents just returned from Japan and the first thing they compared the roll to was what they experienced over there. Not a fair comparison, but none the less I am posting it here as refence as I see the same in surrounding restuarants here. The dinner special comes with Miso Soup, Salad, Protein of choice, and a choice of side (tempura, California Roll, or both). We each got one of the combinations. The Chicken Teriyaki was juicy and good compared to what I normally get from similar restaurants. Overall, a good choice if your simply looking for something balanced. What won me over, was the service. The place was packed and the staff and manager were out there doing what they can, but I didn't hear a single complaint around the restaurant. Not about the wait times, nor the food, and that matters. A small interaction that I happened to pick up, was one of the staff helping an elderly gentleman put on his coat. A small gesture but to me means the world. If they can take a second to do that for him, they really care about your experience. As a local favorite, I can highly recommend this place not just that the food is good, but because service tipped my scale. Mind the place was packed and smiles all around from everyone. I will be back if I am around, I am so glad I was able to finally check this one off my list!

We came for a friend's birthday party, and DEVOURED. Osawa is 100% worth the hype, and if you haven't heard of it, let me hype it up for you…read more The place is small so be prepared to wait if you're trying to go on a Thursday-Saturday, or show up when they open for lunch or dinner. Ambiance is super cute, love the little flags over the sushi/shabu bar and the art on the walls adds to the Japanese restaurant feel. The aroma when you walk in is mouthwatering (I was really hungry) but it doesn't smell fishy like some sushi places can. Staff is unbelievably great, super friendly and helpful if you have any questions about the menu or want recommendations. Don't be afraid to ask what the MP is on omakase, they totally work with what you're looking to spend or based on how many pieces of sushi you want to eat. Now for the real reason to visit Osawa: the food is absolutely amazing!!! Fresh, tasty, perfectly portioned. From the shishito peppers appetizer to the sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, and shabu; I cannot recommend this place enough! They have plenty of sake options to pair with your meal as well as beer or specialty cocktails if that's your preference. They offer to explain your order when it arrives which is great for those newer to sushi or just trying something different. Seriously, some of those fish practically melt in your mouth. I personally haven't ordered any rolls yet but they absolutely look delicious. If you're looking for a good sushi date spot, this. is. it. It's also good for a small group, maybe up to five or so before you feel cramped. Shabu is seated at the bar and their meats and veggie are delicious and fresh, enhanced by the tasty broth. It's even good on a summer day because they have solid air conditioning. Cannot say enough good things about Osawa. Go try it for yourself. :)

After more than a year away, I decided to give Osawa another try on May 8, 2026. Unfortunately, the experience confirmed why I had stopped coming. Around 9:02 p.m., my waiter came by to ask for last orders. I ordered chicken karaage. This is a simple dish that usually comes out in about 4 to 5 minutes. For whatever reason, the order did not arrive until around 9:26 p.m. -- almost 25 minutes later. It seemed obvious that the order had been forgotten. When the karaage finally arrived, it looked hastily sauced. Several parts of the chicken were unsauced, which is not how the dish was normally served in the past. Given the delay and the apparent mishandling, I did not touch the dish. A Japanese male manager wearing glasses then came over. He recognized me, and I explained that I had not been back for more than a year because of the food poisoning incident from fish in 2025. Instead of responding seriously, the manager smiled and giggled slightly, then launched into an irrelevant conversation about his connections in the Japanese food industry in Old Town Pasadena. When he asked why I had not touched the chicken, I explained the almost 30-minute delay and the problems with the dish. Rather than comping the item or offering a real apology, the manager asked whether I still wanted to eat it or would prefer to cancel it. He then ended the conversation by suggesting that I come in during weekday lunch for the $18 lunch specials. That response was bizarre and tone deaf. I did not return after a food poisoning incident to hear a sales pitch about lunch specials. I returned as a longtime customer giving Osawa another chance. Osawa's way of doing business has changed a lot. I've seen better customer service at Erewhon.
