This is a dire warning for the business owner of Umami- your employee is turning customers away, either because she is plain lazy or because she has a grudge against you. She hangs up the calls when you are not present (even worse - she picks up and does not say anything for a while before hanging up), and also blocks app orders. She is also very rude to customers, and skimming through the bad Yelp reviews on your establishment makes me very certain this was not just a bad day. I love your food, and you seemed like a genuinely nice person, which made me feel obligated to take time out of my day to write this review. Today was the first time I tried Umami. I have wanted to in the past but never pulled the trigger. I am so glad I did. I got their two protein sushi burrito and it was enormous! When I picked out my protein and toppings, I thought there was no way they were going to be able to fit it all. I was wrong. The protein and toppings were so good! Plus the extra jalapeños and green onions and crunchy toppings I got on mine were fantastic. Oh and let's not forget about their sauce choices. I am going back tomorrow! One of my new favorite spots! The poké deserves 4 stars, but the pickup process is what dropped it a star. I got a notification that my food was ready, so I went in to pick it up. There were 4 other people in the lobby waiting so a tad busy. When they called my name, someone else claimed that the bowl was theirs- and it was. The crew seemed disorganized and careless because they made another person's bowl wrong who had a gluten allergy (they put tempura flakes in it when she asked for a different kind). Your best bet is to order in store so that they don't mess up your bowl or give it to someone else. I only had to wait ~5 more minutes for my bowl, but still a little frustrating. Heard about this place from social media that they just open not too long, it's a decent size place with a couple of tables so you can sit down and eat with your friends. This place is s really simple place to order, you either have a choice of a sushi burrito or a poke bowl. Also they had bubble tea that you can also try too. I decided to try both the sushi burrito and the poke bowl. For the sushi burrito I got the chef special, which was the Snow Mountain Burrito, and for the poke bowl I got the regular size with the spicy tuna for my choice of protein. Both of the choice I ordered was pretty good, everything was a really good ratio and it wasn't too much of one thing that over powerful the food. Between the two, I think that I would get the poke bowl again because it had different things you can eat without being messy and everything you can see in your face. Is there anything more beautiful than a Poke Bowl? The colors, like a rainbow of food. The textures and the mix of flavors is something magical. Poke puts all other custom, made to order style foods to shame, looking at you Sandwich Shops. I got a normal sized bowl and it was a ton of food. Two ice cream scoops of fish, a bed of rice and or greens, and three toppings as well as sauces, crunchy bits and seasonings. Was a little skeptical because of the location but figured since it was close to campus everyone must frequent this place. I usually only get 2 proteins but went for 3 and really would have been fine with 2. I got spicy tuna, salmon and escolar and I think the escolar had the most flavor but the fish was pretty good in general. I ordered a sushi burrito, seaweed rice wrap with salmon, tuna and snow crab. I also decided to try their black tea house boba. I am a huge fan of boba tea and I thought it'd be worth a try--$3.96 so I'm not expecting my top tier but it'll be a nice place to come if it is good. The cashier was very sweet and was able to answer every question I had about the place. She even said that they'll be putting a menu outside for customers to be able to take pictures and they really do care about every review :) Although a bit pricey I'd have to say. Poke works in Bellevue in winning on that part, my total here was $22 for a single person. 5/5 on the burrito! Absolutely perfect, nothing was soggy but I didn't expect that much protein compared to other poke places I've been. Perfect though. As expected the boba was soft which means nothing bad, it just means it wasn't fresh. Slightly sweet but full of flavour. Still amazing and will definitely get again. My final review would've been a 4.5 if the cashier was nonchalant but as already said she was super nice, unfortunately didn't get her name! It was my favorite place around Campus until I got food poisoning this week from their shrimp. On the good side, it was my first time food poisoned from them after 10+ times of being a regular. I'm so glad there's a build-your-own poke bowl joint in Everett. They also make sushi burritos which is an ultimate plus. I like their salmon. The tuna seemed like it was still a little frozen. They give you big portions which is always a YES from me. I was skeptical about ordering smoothies because I wasn't sure if they used fresh fruit. So, the avocado one is surprisingly good. But the coconut mango just tastes like I got it from Tapioca Express. They used fresh mangoes but powder for the coconut. The coffee smoothie wasn't that good either. I am giving it 5 stars because the service is nice and they're pretty efficient during Covid and I like that their website is user-friendly for online orders. One thing I'd like to see them improve on is their drinks. I don't think they should use the mango or avocados that have been sitting out with the rest of the poke items. What's a Poké bowl with no pickled ginger and Wasabi? My bowl didn't come with that as well as the sesame seeds and seaweed toppings (I actually had to ask for the sesame seeds and seaweed after the lid was put on). I thought Umami would have unlimited toppings like other Poké places do but here you only get 3. And if you want avocado, and even though the menu states it's an extra $1 (understandable), once you reach your 3 it's actually an extra $2. Sorry, I'll spend my $11 plus on a Poké bowl that has limited toppings. And the portions are super small. 2 stars though for at least having fresh tuna and salmon. read more
