I was in town for my cousin's wedding and desperately needed help with my hair. I was happy to see an Ulta close by our hotel. I Jessica was my stylist and she was so friendly & did a wonderful job on my blowout. I got lots of compliments on my hair and she used lots of products to help prevent frizz from the humid weather. Excellent service all around. Thank you so much! read more

I'm sorry to see such bad reviews. I had a nice and easy time here - I needed to refresh my supply of Smashbox Always Sharp eyeliner. It was relatively easy to find. I actually like that they welcome you in without getting super intense in the sales pitch the way Sephora does. It's a better "happy medium." Their selection is terrific, not just for makeup, but for skincare and hair products. I got some Aquaphor near the checkout as well, since my lips needed it in the cold air outside! The employee checking me out was super friendly without pushing any upsell. She told me about similar eyeliner brands - I forgot why, but it was something related to a common issue with the one I buy. She also complimented the clothes of two customers who had just walked in. I like how she added such a personal touch to the "proceedings." read more

I came in at 7 PM to pick up an online order and restocked on $100 worth of hair products. At the register, I told the cashier (Stacey) I was also picking up an order. She grabbed it, but while trying to push me to open an Ulta credit card, she must've thrown the item away. I didn't realize until I got home that it wasn't in my bag. I rushed back before closing, and she insisted she put it in my bag. Claimed to check the cameras and told another worker the same. I checked my car still nothing. When I came back and pointed to the trash bin by the register, she pulled my order right out of it and tried to act like it wasn't a big deal. When I asked for a manager, she told me she was the manager (she wasn't). Thankfully another employee went and got the real supervisor. Whether this was an "accident" or not, I don't know how many customers this has happened to but it felt shady. Stacey should not be in that position, and Ulta needs to do better. read more

This review is towards the hair salon portion. I came about a week ago to get a wash and style. Yari was my stylist, she was not kind or anything. She barely spoke to me and when she did, it was because I spoke to her. I tried to upkeep conversation the whole appointment in attempts to be kind and it backfired on me every time. She was very carefree with the way she styled my hair, putting in no effort to make sure it was the way I liked. I told her what I wanted & she went the lazy way: and it wasn't even the way I asked her to do it initially. Also put no hairspray which made my hair drop by the time I left. The shampoo process was 3 minutes max. People come to get their hair done for a pampering & luxury service. I would've liked to get my money's worth & not have had to restyle my hair when I got home. I could've taken a shower and curled my hair at home but my $45 I saved to have a pampering & relaxing experience was the biggest waste of my money that I won't be able to get back. read more

I knew the color foundation and concealer was no longer right on me. I went into my neighborhood Ulta in Schaumburg and was lucky to get Sana to assist me. She instantly knew what tone would be best and she tried three shades to make sure. Within 5 minutes she had nailed it and I am very happy with my new Lancome products. I needed an expert's eye, and Sana was it. read more

Oooh, it's been a blessing. Thanks to the help from staff, and their suggestions ... I've heard so much of Derma blend, but was not using it... Till now. Now that I'm a proud owner of their products.... capable of blending into my shade of color.... and able to mask some embarrassing scars. Well, I wouldn't say "embarrassing". Just, some draw unwanted or unpleasant attention, judging by some people. I'm totally fine with them, though I'm not quite sure if my mom is though. For the most part, I have yet to use it in a public place to put my truest views on this, this week! For a summer festival, and hopefully, through the day. Rain or shine... that it will do me justice! Crossing my fingers it stays on strong, since it was reccomend with the primer for it to do so... Wish me luck! read more

Nice variety of hair dryers and hair products. Store is well organized. Staff has been friendly and helpful finding items.

had appointment on New Years Eve for makeup. Ulta in Schaumburg called me and CANCELLED last minute (literally) .Very disappointed, impossible to get another appointment with any one else in such a short time. WOW ! WHAT A DISAPOINTMENT. read more

Went in to try a new workshop they're offering to teach you how to style your hair. It was great, and I learned how to finally style my hair the way the stylists always do at the salon. Lexi, the stylist who taught the class, was amazing at explaining and showing me how to do things, and she was really nice! I'd definitely recommend people to take the class if they have trouble knowing how to style their hair the way they want. read more

This place isn't even worth a star. Managers Michelle and Lisa were the most unprofessional staff I have encountered in a very long time. Now believe me, I do not complain often but when I see behavior that nearly dropped my jaw I feel it is necessary to share. Michelle used an extremely condescending attitude and shook her head when trying to explain why I wasn't happy with my hair dye job. I took the liberty to tell her her attitude was extremely unprofessional and rude and another manager stepped in telling me "that's enough" and to "leave". My mind is boggled how this place is still in business with this staff representing them. I won't be shopping at Ulta anymore after this experience. read more

To Lisa M the "store manager": This store does not deserve any stars. While picking up an order for my daughter, the person "helping" me (you) was extremely rude and condescending. I asked to speak to a manager and she said. "I am the manager". She then proceeded to do everything in her power to give me a hard time. I left without the order. She yelled HAVE A GOOD DAY and openly made rude comments about me. This was in front of customers and employees. Lisa, you being a "manager" at Ulta ensures loss of business for this company! Good work! read more

Manager is too loud and unprofessional. She won't even wear a mask properly, and is super condescending to customers. My guess is she wouldn't want to help you on your worst day. I mean, it's an Ulta in the west suburbs for god sakes; these aren't life or death requests from the customers. Too big for her britches. My advice- Lose the power trip, Lisa. read more

The manager sucks ass that "tried" to help, only to give me attitude and tell me "if I understand what she's saying" Like no b I don't, nor do I care to have a senseless convo Ultra is suppose to be a pleasant shopping experience. To tell the truth it never is when I visit this location. Was trying to save time and kill 2 birds with a stone, ended up placing an order the night before and I popped up into the store around 1pm c because I was trying to save something time, money whatever it was it dreaded so long. 1 pm and they're barely picking out my order then proceed to tell me something is missing bc of no stock that I need to go online and cancel my order then re order all this non sense. Like if I really wanted to go through all this I woulda just went into the store. But like always greeted with some type of bullshit and nonsense and not a simple hello or we are here to help. Im staying at the Bloomingdale store location, worth the 15 extra min drive. read more

I went in to pick up an online order I had placed, and I was standing at the pickup area while 2 employees were just talking and completely ignored me. I know they saw me standing there and not one person came to help. Finally Marissa, which she was very rude, asked me if I had a pickup order and I said yes. She then walked away and went to help someone else and left me waiting. I was literally waiting for 5 minutes while 4 other people got help that got there after me. I don't mind waiting as long as they acknowledge I'm there and ask me to wait but she was just chit chatting. Online pickup is supposed to be much faster than going in the store and getting what you need but I definitely ended up waiting longer than people who were shopping in the store. read more

I was just at the store a few minutes ago. Between 8-8:38. This employee name Lisa, women in her 40's, with curly hair, white. Whom was very racist towards my mother and sister who are visually Hispanic. Lisa was very rude, when they just asked about if they had points in the store. Had a very unwelcoming demeanor. Went to return a few items that the just bought 20 minutes ago. When at the register, they were asked by lisa who had already scanned their items on purchase and was again doing their return. Asked, "Are you returning these items after using them?" As mentioned before they were recently there 20 minutes ago. Of course for my family who were very appalled by this women's clear racism towards them felt very attacked. This is probably why this particular Ulta Beauty has 2 and half stars. Because of their racist employee who made my family uncomfortable. read more

As soon as I walked into the store, 2 employees standing by the door ignored me. I looked right at one of them 1 feet from me and said hello and she still ignored as if I wasn't even there. Then as I was in line to check out, the 1 cashier was oddly staring at me. Odd employees at this store, so I left my items and left right away. I'm NOT coming back to this location. read more

Had a great hair appointment with Sherri. I've been a customer of hers for several years & can't say enough good things about her. I left a previous review that wasn't good, it had nothing to do with Sherri, she goes out of her way to take care of me. It's the management I have a hard time with. If I tell you over the phone that my hair is brown, don't tell me "there's no way it can be brown". I have nothing to gain by lying If you want great, high quality service, Sherri is the one to see! read more

I have been an ultra customer for years. Audrey the manager helped me my recent trip to ultra. She was kind she was positive she was helpful and she really made my day. Manager is a bitch. Opened the store and didn't bother to hold the door for the old woman waiting outside. When my friend and I left the store, it seemed as a convenience for her for us to be leaving. We literally got 1 item, weren't asked if we needed help, and then pretty much shooed out of the store. read more

There was this lady in today who came off pretty rude to me. I got services on my hair and had to bring the ticket up to the counter. I didn't realize where the line was because the HONESTLY don't have a clear , "Line starts here sign" sadly...so this lady which seemed like a manager...said , "line is suppose to start over there...not a big deal but you know..." With ATTITUDE. Kind of made me feel like stupid which is something you should never make a customer feel like. I've worked retail. I KNOW. Anyways, she got off the phone to actually do something and she ended up being my cashier in which I was just annoyed by her bc she made me feel stupid by sayin , "let me check these people or else we'll have a line goin the wrong way the whole day.." Lol like ok...sorry for not being able to see where the line starts ma'am plus there was just two other ppl in line. Did not like her at all, while she was on the phone before they picked up she rudely talked bout the customers. Someone needs a lesson in customer service. She was a tall blonde lady. Middle aged I would say. read more

This location is alright, but the customer service needs a bit of sprucing. Each time I come into this location, I have to ask for help to find a product. I wish you still carried Cargo as I love their HD foundation! Other locations were very generous with providing samples to members at check out. This location will not offer you anything of the sort. I've recently moved to ordering my products online since I get more goodies from them by ordering online. I love trying out new products, and I buy Smashbox, Cargo, Urban Decay, Mario Bradescu, and others so I do buy the expensive stuff. Additional Services: I have tried to get my brows done, facial treatments, but no one is over there to help. I usually give up and end up going to my preferred spa for the services. I had my hair done at their previous location, and about fainted at the cost for a haircut, shampoo, style. Great place to run into should you forget to make your online order and need an item quick. I would not visit here to receive any type of service though. read more

I usually don't go to this location but I needed a lipstick so I stopped by because the location is convenient. LEO is the most hardworking sales associate in all Ulta I've been to. He was there to assist me when everyone else is chatting in the middle of the store and he even ran across the entire store to answer the phone because nobody would pick it up! An associate even brought 2 customers to him, while he was assisting me, to help them. read more

So I have such mixed feelings about this Ulta. It's so hit or miss with customer service. I've had excellent customer service (helpful, kind, and genuine), and other times where I can tell the employee is less than thrilled to be working, (attitude, disinterest, and even have been lied to- but whatever). I've worked retail, in a busy makeup store, I know how things can get... I also know that regardless, the way you treat customers makes a difference. There are plenty of ulta stores within a ten mile radius of this one. I do like the proximity of this location and that typically I have an hassle free experience here. read more

okay store. Always really hard to breathe in here with all their perfumes and sprays. I came here one time on my 30 minute lunch break (I work in the same shopping mall so it wasn't far) just to get one thing. I was in a hurry to get back to my work as I only had 10 minutes left and there was a line. When I got up to the register, the cashier asked if I had the rewards and I said no, then she proceeded to ask me for my information to sign me up. I told her I didn't want the rewards and that I was in a hurry but she didn't listen and insisted I gave her my info. So rude and pushy! read more

Ulta gave me a great fist impression of a beauty supply store....much better than Walgreen's, the local drug store, and my salon! Pretty decent prices too! ( the Solon prices are crazy expensive compared to here!) This was my fist time at a any beauty supply store....I only give it 4 stars because I have no other experience with a store like this, how could I compare it! I did not even expect to be in here. I was at a friends home, close to this location, helping wrap gifts, (the women were, I was having some nog and watching a game) when I was blind sided buy my girl with a Christmas gift list and told to go here ...... I was actually nervous walking in here...I thought my manhood would be sucked right out of me! Well it wasn't and I have to say that they had so many cool things for everyone!. I even found a new gel for myself, picked up some colognes for my cousins, and some beauty supplies for the ladies in my life. The woman behind the counter had answers to all my questions and I had a lot! This is not my usual job, picking out blush brushes( who new cheap blush brushes could shed and ruin expensive make up) and finding the right volumizer. This place is the king of all stocking stuffer places. There were all kinds of little things that people could/would find useful. I really liked this store and I was told that this wasn't even close to being their best. Wow.... if I had only thought is was cool for a guy to go to a store like this sooner! read more

I like Ulta, I do but I won't be going back to this one anytime soon. I tend to judge a place by customer service and I don't get much here. It's like they think I'm not going to buy anything by just looking at me. So of course I'll drop a good amount of $ and make sure the cashier knows "No, no one cared to help me today!" lol that's usually a failed attempt of a Pretty Woman moment on my part because the cashier barely cares. I'll stick to the one in the city or by Woodfield. read more

I would give this location 0 stars if I could. The customer service here is horrible. Whenever I come here, no one ever asks if I need help and I always have to look around for someone if I need to ask a question. Last time I visited, I wanted to exchange a shampoo. I stood by the register for almost 10 minutes after the associate called the manager over for assistance on the exchange (this was on a Monday afternoon and they were EMPTY/NOT BUSY). The manager was making small talk with another associate and after I looked over at her for the 3rd time she rolled her eyes and walked over. They couldn't find the receipt in the system so the manager offered me .01 to put towards something else. The manager seemed annoyed so I told her I would look for my receipt and come back. The shampoo costs almost $30 why would I take it back for .01 ?! I left and will probably never come back to this location. The management is very unprofessional. Very bad customer service. I wasn't mad that I couldn't exchange the shampoo, it was my fault I didn't have the receipt, but the manager's attitude was unacceptable. read more

Ulta is a useful place for cosmetics/perfumes/haircare. They carry both low-end and high-end names so i'm just as likely to go there for Revlon as for Redken. This location seems fairly new, and is kept in execllent condition. Also, employees make the effort to ask if you need help. read more

I got my makeup done today for a wedding with Samantha and I have never been so upset. I didn't want to say it to her to make her feel bad but as soon as I got home I washed it ALL off. First off my foundation was SO off. It was 3 shades lighter than I actually am. I looked like a ghost. Then the picture I showed her to do, was not even close to what she did. I said I wanted a orange rusty look and all of the eyeshadow was black and not even blended well. She didn't fill in my eyebrows at all and I looked like a zombie when she was done. 100% complete waste of my money and time. Ulta is def. a place where you can get really fantastic, expensive brand cosmetics! Some things a bit expensive, but some is good prices, too. read more

I got my hair and make-up done at Ulta for my wedding in Schaumburg/Streamwood area. They were phenomenal and the prices were much lower than expected. I got my hair and make-up done at an up-scale salon for my sister's wedding which cost me twice as much when I was maid of honor versus a bride at Ulta, and the work was so much better. I ended up buying extra blush and hairspray, but I never even needed to retouch anything besides my lip gloss. The staff was super friendly and talkative and new exactly what I wanted. They even brought in extra stylists since I had a sunday wedding. Would definitely recommend! read more

Typically customer service is great here. Went to try the brow bar for the first time after recommendation and was happy with the shape of my eyebrows except the waxer, Caitlyn, cut me with the tweezers and didn't tell me. I felt pain after she tweezed my eye brows but I have sensitive skin and thought nothing of it. Once I looked at the result, I noticed I was bleeding. My sister also visited and was burned by the wax and not told by the waxer. Wish I could say I'll go back because I liked the shape of my brows, but thought we should've been informed and apologized to. read more

So I booked an appointment with the salon, after my mother decided I shouldn't box dye. Upon arriving to the salon I was greeted by a lady of which her name escapes me. Her hair was absolutely beautiful. So I informed her what I wanted to do, which she basically said the only way to lighten my hair was to do highlights. I agreed and she started foiling my hair which mind you I had done before. She did not place the foil up against the roots, but if fact she placed it a 1/4 from the root. She proceed to do this through out my partial highlights. Then she went to mix the main color and had to ask how much of G or B to put with A.. which to me means not much as I don't work with hair, but if you are doing this professional and people are paying $65 for color and another $70 for highlights you'd think you'd know this. By this time I already had the bleach on my hair, so I couldn't leave. So she brush applicates the color onto my whole head. Half way through the process she undoes two foils on the Right side of my scalp and sprays water on them with a spray bottle. At that point I said I hope they won't remain so yellow. So she brings me the dye book with samples to pick a toner. 25 minutes later she washes out my hair and is trying to sell me deep conditioning treatments. I am beyond upset at this point. She then asks another stylist apparently a senior stylist how to mix again, and she pulls paper and tell them to write it out for her. Unacceptable to be employed and not knowing she places the toner on my hair and within 2 minutes washes it out. Then we get back to her station and she starts cutting my hair. Didn't have an appointment, but stupid me figures hey it messed up anyways. So here I sit a month almost since she did it. . Guess what highlights are brassy. Not Sylvia the salon manager is calling me and I get to inform her of this all over again. Needless to say this was $189.00, I plan to return to my old stylist cause for $189 I could have had full head of hi and low lights and a pull through cut and style.. Overpriced. very unhappy customer. read more
