If you get brow services it will be done by a hairstylist or another employee and not a Benefit arch expert. They aren't transparent about this. This Ulta completely exceeded my expectations -- and here's why: It's not the biggest location, but definitely not the smallest either. The store is spotless, well-organized, and very easy to navigate. The staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They give you space to shop comfortably, yet they're always nearby if you need assistance. I really appreciated that no one was pushy, rude, or made me feel profiled -- just genuine customer service. There's a salon in the back for hair services and a makeup station in the cosmetics area, which makes it a one-stop beauty spot. This location has officially become my favorite Ulta, and I truly hope they never change the way they manage this store. Worst experience ever -- avoid this place. The general manager, Joseph, treats customers like thieves and actually smiles while you're explaining how harassed you feel. I was followed around the store, profiled, and embarrassed for no reason. I accidentally picked up a dry shampoo without a cap, thinking it was a tester, and Melissa literally reached in front of my crotch to grab it, acted passive-aggressive, then took the bottle away even though I was trying to BUY it. She and Joseph then talked about me loudly like I wasn't right there. When I complained, Joseph just grinned like it was a joke. Disrespectful, unprofessional, and downright humiliating. FYI- i've had a really hard time finding somebody in Queens who can cut wavy hair to the curl instead of just blowing it out, but MJay at this location was very pro-curl did a great job. You can tell she really knows her stuff and loves her job! Also, just a compliment to this Ulta in general- whenever I come in the girls all seem really happy and seem to enjoy their job. This place is your standard go to Ulta. They are well stocked and parking is pretty easy here. It's convenient and usually doesn't have much of a crowd. However, do not get your hair done from this place. The hairdressers are absolutely terrible. I came here three times and had two absolutely awful haircuts. The other one was just decent. The first time I came here, I told my hairdresser that I was trying to grow out my hair. She said that she'd mostly focus on face framing and do a tiny trim in the back.... Well, it turns out she was trying to cut corners and just trimmed my bangs to save time, didn't cut a single stand of hair anywhere else. Yet, the price she charged me was atrocious. The second time I came here, I actually loved my hair cut and was hoping to get the same hairdresser. However, she's been pretty busy for the last few months. The most recent time I came back, the hairdresser I worked with was more interested in leaving on time. All she cared about was getting home. Loved her attitude. Yes, I was late to my appointment, but I called multiple times asking if they could still fit me in. TBH, I should have just not come at that point. I asked her for a trim and she said that she would recommend cutting an inch off my hair. As she was adjusting it, she said that I should really cut off two inches. Okay, no problem. However, the haircut I actually got cut off maybe 4-5 inches and was significantly shorter than what I expected. I came here to get a cut, my stylist Maleaka M. did an okay cut but she didn't listen. I specifically asked for layers with curtain bangs, I barely got layers and she had to go back in after doing a blow out (without any product) to get me the layers I asked for. she never did the curtain bangs, didn't part my hair properly while doing the front layers. i left feeling like she really had no desire to cut my hair. I should have gotten the first clue when she didn't bother introducing herself. I'm okay with a stylist not wanting to talk but you have to listen to what the client wants. I've been coming to Cynthia for 7 years to get my hair cut and colored. Every 2 months. It was such a pleasure coming to her and getting friendly service and the most amazing color and cuts. It felt like I was hanging out with a friend for those 2 hours. 2 weeks ago, I came for my usual appointment. Kept getting reminder texts throughout the previous couple of weeks. I was sitting waiting for Cynthia to call me when the person at the register asked if I needed help. I explained that I was there for my appointment with Cynthia. She looked puzzled and explained that Cynthia doesn't work there anymore. She moved to Florida 4 weeks prior and is the salon manager at the Ulta there. I was completely taken aback by that information. Totally blindsided. If she's gone, why did I get MULTIPLE texts confirming my appointment? They said they didn't know why because she wasn't in their system anymore. Good thing I kept those texts because I showed them and they didn't have much to say. I was so upset. I didn't know what to say, but they didn't seem apologetic on their end for still sending me a text like my appointment was still valid. Customer service sucks. They didn't try to help the situation. Didn't try to sell me the services of other salon workers there. No apologies. So they suck on their end and I hate to say it but Cynthia sucks as well. I usually hate getting my hair cut... like to the point where I've either cut it myself (badly) or just ended up with something super boring. But ever since I started seeing Jinks at the Herald Square Ulta, that's totally changed. She's so lovely, never makes me feel rushed, and honestly just does such a great job every time. My hair's actually been able to grow and evolve, and (not to be dramatic) but I don't think I've ever felt better about how I look. I always leave my appointment feeling like a million bucks. I needed assistance with finding the right shade of tinted moisturizer today and happened upon an employee that asked if I needed help. Meisha was sent to me from the Ulta Gods and walked me through about 4 different tinted moisturizers until I got the right one. She also helped my daughters choose the right facial creams. She was wonderful and I could not have asked for a more patient and kind person to help me today. I bought most of the products she recommended to me, not because I felt like she was pushing them on me but because after she demonstrated them on my skin I felt like they were perfect fits. I came here to get my makeup done for my gender reveal. I made an appointment online but for some reason when I got there, they said my name wasn't in the book which was a little frustrating. However, Genevieve was still able to take me. She did a blue and pink look for the gender reveal and my make up lasted the whole night even though it was hot. She finished me in about an hour which was good. This ulta didnt have the mac counter like the Westbury location in Long Island but the Ulta Salon did a great job on my makeup. Get your hair done by TIFFANY! She gave me the most natural looking, sleek blonde highlights over my previously dull, brassy yellow ombré. The highlights were not stripe-y at all (Something I'm always afraid of). Tiffany has been doing hair for many years and it was obvious after my hair was done! She is the absolute best!!! I know everyone says this, but she truly fixed my hair after many bad dye jobs I've had. She also gave me a really nice cut that shaped my hair beautifully too. She takes her time to do your hair - but I guess that's how the magic is done (just plan to spend a lot of time there, like most salons). The store is in the Atlas Mall so parking is in an underground lot or there are some spots above ground within the shopping plaza. She's literally made mine grow back after the last two years or so of her doing them after yeaaaars of over plucking that I thought I would just never have real brows and was considering microblading, thanks to her I didn't have to make that expense and choice. Upon entering the store, David (the store manager) first asked me to pick up my service dog. When I refused, he then asked me to leave. I came into the store when the website told me the 2 products I was looking for were stocked at this location. David told me this location doesn't carry those products. I went to another associate who took me directly to the products I was looking for. David threatened to call mall security on me (I recommended he do so - he did not) and yelled at me in front of customers. He even told me that my service dog wasn't a service dog because he didn't have a vest. I'm a black man and my service dog is 4 month old Pitbull mix that is in training. I went into Ulta today. As I was patiently, . . Alright impatiently anticipating their opening. I went whe. They were not open, and I couldn't go when they did their grand opening. :( When I finally did get to go inside, I was expecting the same antsy greeting and service as the Elmhurst location. Here they are laid back and sparse. I think I met one woman besides the woman who placed my purchase in a tiny bag. Off the subject for a minute, why is. It the more you spend in stores like this, the tinier your bag seems to be? I met a young woman with a very nicely treated right ebony curls that was scampering around the store. When I asked her about DermaBlend Products and finding your shade, she just pointed to the display and said: "Um. Well there are testers". That's all fine and dandy, but I'd like a bit more insight before I make a $45.00 boo-boo that I can't take back for a refund. In the end I had no choice but to make my own decision and take the risk I'm buying something I was probably non-refundable in the end. Going home and unboxing this myself I came to the conclusion that indeed was not something I could use and and it up making use of it by using it for Halloween by adding tint to it and using it as body paint. Not only was she sweet, funny and easy to talk to, but she was a true professional. I wanted a glaze process to add shine and a hint of color and Tiffany took her time to explain the product, pros and cons and was honest, which I appreciated most. She was patient and never rushed me and even took the time to consult with me regarding my hair issues (fine, thin hair - thanks genetics!). I left her chair with my expectations exceeded and already eager to book my next appointment. By the way, this is a great location as there are plenty of stores and food options and ample parking. She recommended a particular brand and took her time explaining things as she applied it. She tried a few different foundations until I found one I was satisfied with. I liked the selection of makeup and other beauty products. The store is large enough where you can get around and not feel claustrophobic. The employees were visible but I felt aside from the one that helped me and the ones behind the register, they could have provided more assistance. My friend got a mini facial which she liked and the price was good. There's also a blow dry bar at the back which provides another reason to check out this location. Overall a good visit.
