I buy a lot of stuff there and they also try to give me $$ off sometimes. But today I faced a really bad customer service. Their store is pretty presentable. There's always people greeting you in the front. However I hate the fact that every time I go they follow me around and keep watching me asking if I need help as I'm going to steal something. Absolutely humiliating. I went to exchange a conditioner I didn't want because they don't do returns and he said I have to leave the product and bag at the counter. I asked why and he didn't have a valid explanation (obviously he's not going to say so you can't steal) he just said, "you just have to". Honestly I'd rather go anywhere else after the way they treat their customers no matter the amount of products they have, even if it's close by. This is a great place to buy beauty products. They have a decent selection of makeup brushes. I also buy nail polish from here since it's cheaper than buying from your local Rite Aid or Duane Reade. After finding out that Amazon no longer carried my favorite hair styling clay, I looked everywhere online to see if other places carried the same product. Unfortunately, I found that the price of the clay tripled, so I have been reluctantly looking for alternative hair styling products. I was in the area to meet an old college friend for lunch so I decided to stop by this store to see if they had my favorite hair styling clay or something similar. Unfortunately, Optima didn't carry the exact product I was looking for, but the staff suggested a number of alternatives that seemed pretty similar. I ended up taking a couple of different hair styling clays home with me that day, and thanks to the staff at Optima I was able to find a product that was very close to what I was looking for -- without spending double the amount online. Discovered this place a couple of weeks ago. I was supposed to receive my hair dye by UPS but it was delayed so I frantically looked for a local place to get it. This place is stocked on lots of brands of hair dye and they have so much more. I was able to get my dye, a drug store brand of shampoo I love but have a hard time finding, I got an excellent double sided boar bristle paddle hairbrush and a few Morphe makeup brushes. I really could have spent so much time in there. There's just so much to take in and great quality products/brands. Also the entire staff was so incredibly nice. I called in advance to check on the dye and the girl on the phone was super sweet. Each staff person in the store was friendly, helpful and upbeat. Seriously this place is a gem! its one thing to take any bags you have and give you a number, which is reasonable. but its another when they have an employee watch your every move... they literally follow you aisle to aisle.. as soon as you pick up more than 2 items, one comes rushing to you and hands you a basket. its annoying to have employees act like you're gonna steal absolutely everything you look at. i can't shop in peace because i feel like i'm being stared down, WHICH I AM. i feel bad for anyone who has most likely been racially profiled at this store. i'm sure they exist. i haven't encountered a nice employee either. if i have a question, they just answer with an attitude or a fake ass tone. i rather order stuff online, save money (this store isn't affordable), and not be annoyed/uncomfortable. read more

I'm gonna jump on the good vibes bandwagon because this place really is a good supply store. Normally the best of the hair/hair product stores are normally found in more Afro-centric neighborhoods but this place meets my needs perfectly. They are pretty large and carry everything that a normal individual would desire in addition to those who run a business. The prices are pretty reasonable. So far I've bought a big tub of jumbo hair pins, two sleeping caps and some hair sheen. They also carry hair packs, styling tools, head bands, and normal everyday body supplies like deodorant and lotions. The guy at the front counter all the times I went is very nice and always smiles when he greets you and the women who work the floor don't follow you around in every aisle to make sure you aren't going to steal something (I mean...it's not only me that this happens to right?). The only downside for me is that it isn't the easiest to find certain things because as they try and make the most of their wallspace, it is easy for me to walk past something several times before realizing that it is what I am looking for. He asked me what brought me to Jackson heights and when I told him I read amazing yelp reviews about the store I decided to check it out myself. He told me if I checked in on yelp that he would give me 10% off! Awesome!! Every penny saved helps. As far as selection goes they stock every single NYX product from the entire line and even a lot of the discontinued products at a discounted price. When I told the guy at the register I couldn't find the one NYX product I came to the store to get, him and another associate looked it up in their store catalog, looked it up online and on the NYX official website and discovered it was discontinued and that's why they no longer had it. Now that's excellent service. I also happened to find some face products (a Freeman face mask and a Queen Helene face exfoliater) here that I had been looking for for months and couldn't find a single store that carried them.. I have up on even looking for these products and lo and behold I found them here at less than $4 a bottle. Also, they carry Sigma brushes which are pretty hard to find in beauty stores. The selection is this store is really great!!! Matrix, AlfaParf, Redken, DevaCurl, Chi, Biosilk... My aunt told me I can use Biosilk on my skin in addition to my hair... I haven't been brave enough to try that yet. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, young and speaks perfect English. The manager was super nice and willing to order anything I wanted that they didn't have in stock, but they had the Chi straight iron that I was looking for, so I left a happy hair girl. Two days before Halloween I was able to get everything I needed for my costume (Rockstar baby!).
