Love the location of this store, conveniently located inside Waugh Chapel shopping, which allows people to stop by and grab the things they needed after dinning at the restaurants nearby or while doing errands run at Target or Wegman's. Parking: large shopping center parking lot. Inside shop: spacious, fairly clean, did not see too many staff in the shop, well stocked on most of the shelves, has one of the largest Styling Tools section. Service: we did not need any customer service on this trip, but when in line to check out, there was only 1 staff behind the counter while 3-4 customers were waiting in line. Wait was not long, so we didn't mind. It was a weekday afternoon, so not as busy as the weekend, not sure if that's why staffing was low, or some were happened to be on break at that time frame. I went here to find foundation after returning from vacation. I got a tan so I needed to find something not too expensive to match my new skin tone. I saw Christa working on inventory but I approached her and asked for her assistance. She immediately stopped what she was doing to assist happily. She showed me options within my price range and assisted with sampling to make sure I had the right shade. She had to try 3 or more on me and made sure we both agreed on the best option. She remained so friendly and welcoming during the whole experience. I will most definitely be coming back to this location to see her every time! She displayed excellent customer service! read more

I have been going to Farah for my hair appointments for over 10 years. She is one of the most amazing hair stylists I have been to. Farah is one of the master hairstylists at Ulta. She is professional, listens to what you want to have done, gives you her professional opinion about what you need. I have referred so many family and friends to her and every single one of them has been happy with her amazing work . I saw a negative review on here, and I know exactly what the situation was. It happened that I had an appointment at the same time. The lady was rude, unrealistic and wouldn't even let Farah finish her work first! She started complaining from the moment she sat in the chair and then when Farah referred her to Jessica, which is another capable hair stylist. She started questioning her about what she uses , and trying to tell them they don't know what they are doing!!! Between these two ladies with over 38 years of expertise and experience, I don't think she had any room to try to teach them how to blow dry her hair! I like to begin this review by emphasizing it refers to hair styling services. The rest of the store seems to be on par with the Ulta franchise. It is crowded and lines are long. With regard to hair styling services, a simple online booking for shampoo, and blow dry was made for 3:15 PM this afternoon. As my stylist begin to blow dry my hair after a very sub par shampoo wash, I gently suggested to her that her technique was not in line with my request for a smooth blow, dry with volume at the crown. The "master" stylist Farah, who clearly was not receptive punted me to her colleague, Jessica. Reluctant Jessica visibly showed her disinterest thereby confirming her conversation with the master stylist. Cue the store manager, Leslie. I'm not really certain if she could've done anything because she looked very lost and kept asking stylists if they were done for the day. Hair half dry and frizzy...now 4:15 PM. Cue general manager Brittany. No help from her but I was told the manner in which I communicate myself using my hands, was not appreciated. She told me I was not welcome. Cue corporate. Currently waiting to hear back...stay tuned. My goal here is to save at least one person, the headache of booking the most basic service only to have to go home and correct it yourself . Ulta is my retail therapy. I spend so much time at Ulta and on their website. This location tops. I always come to this location because their customer service is top notch!! You get greeted as you walk in and associates offer their assistance on a continuous basis. I hate having to hunt down a sales clerk. I hate when associates are conversing among each other instead of offering. I needed a real good mascara and a new eyeshadow palette. The associate I forgot her name OOPs. Was very nice. She helped my find my new favorite mascara by Tarte. Use their app for extra savings and to rack up points. The store is always fully stocked and clean. The checkout lanes are fast and cashiers are friendly. Some will even give you free samples. read more

Rarely have bad customer service experiences but this place is consistently ridiculous. On a regular basis, zero offers to help or find anything. On another regular basis, when you order online there's a great chance 1/3 of your order isn't available. Would be fine but they don't bother to tell you, make you wait around for another 10 mins "looking" to tell you, and follow it up by trying to help find a replacement product yet not listening to what you're looking for. The new floor sales girls have no business being there. They are rude and unhelpful, seems like they'd much rather talk to one another then help out customers. I came in and asked one of them to help me match foundation to my skin and they weren't willing to help me AT ALL and proceeded to converse to one another. 5 stars. I scheduled an appointment with the salon for my bridal updo, as well as for my mother, mother-in-law, and two daughters. We were a so happy and the styles all lasted over 12 hours, on a humid and drizzly day. Wow! The girls who did our hair went above and beyond, some even coming in on their days off. And last but definitely not least they surprised me with a card and gift basket stocked with Bare Minerals makeup, and I'm not talking about little samples, I was given makeup to match my style, skin tone and it was all full sized. These women were so sweet to us. I'll be switching all of my salon services to Raquel from now on because not only did I love our hair but because the customer service was second to none. read more

I had a 30 minute facial at the store. It felt good and my skin looked good but it was my mistake to go where they sell the products. I want to get a facial, to not only clean my skin but I don't want a sales job about the amazing products. I want to relax. I frequent this location and traditionally I receive good service from beginning to end but today I can't say the same. The lady and gentlemen in the urban decay section provided great service and helped me to find all the make up essentials. Then when going to check out is where the experience changed. The one cashier seemed friendly and provided misinformation. Her colleague instead of correcting her just stood there. Then she didn't even inform me she was open to help me check out while the other cashier was with my friend. My friend had to say are you open for her to offer service. That soured my total experience. If I didn't really want my products I would've have left and purchased from another store. read more

I heart ULTA! I can always count on being greeted as soon as I walk into this store. Even if an employee is ringing up a customer, someone still acknowledges me. It makes me feel like my business is appreciated. I frequent this location about one or twice a month. I also use their Salon services. Teshia is a great stylist and I'm always thrilled with my hair after my appointments with her. Sometimes it's a little difficult to find someone to help you if you have a question. There have been numerous times where I had to track down an employee coming out of the back room. However, the employees are very nice and always have a smile on their faces. To correct a previous review, this location does accept manufacturer coupons. The one disappointing thing about this particular location (and I feel silly even complaining about this) is that their stock is consistently low on nail polish. It's like they were wiped out during the Christmas season and never restocked. I love nail polish and love giving it as gifts so sometimes there aren't as many options as I would like when trying to find the perfect shade. Tips: 1. Check out the clearance sections! You can find amazing hidden treasures for low prices if you dig a bit. 2. Sign up for their mailing list and emails because they ALWAYS have a coupon. Coupons are also on their app. Just be sure to read the rules on the brands that they do not accept coupons for. There is usually a list at the registers. Their rewards program is great and there are many opportunities to earn double or triple points, so you'll reach the $ off goals in no time. read more

Very clean and convenient location. I love that this Ulta carries Clinique products. I used to buy all of my Clinique from Macy's but they never had anything that I wanted in stock. Ulta does a great job keeping items in stock, easy to locate and organized. I love that I don't have to wait for someone to grab my makeup for me from behind a counter-- I can easily pick out whatever I want! I love their selection of OPI nail products and hair care products. Ulta is my one stop shop for all of my beauty needs! I did dock a star for their staff. (the old brow stylist) I really only trust her with my brows but was short on time and decided to go see someone else at Ulta rather than her. Big mistake!!! The girl who did my brows told me she had over a year's experience, yet after I got them done I realized one brow was shorter than the other and I also have a small bald spot on one! I'm reposting what I've posted in Google Reviews because more people see Yelp. I love Ulta! I've been a Platinum member for a few years and just generally choose Ulta over Sephora but this one is a pass unless its close by. The one in Annapolis is much friendlier, more willing to help you and ask if you need assistance unlike this store. Luckily I do a lot of research on makeup so it's not really an issue for me or friends I go with. Besides one older woman who helped me around Christmas, I've been ignored whenever I enter the store. I know for a fact a lot of women come in asking for help or advice and more than once I've seen people tasking and quickly grab something to give to a customer to get back to what they were doing. I used one of the hair coupons to chop off my long hair to short hair for $30 and wasn't disappointed! The girls in the back know what they are doing :) I wish they carried the body products for Dermalogica (you can only find them online now) and I also wished they carried a larger amount of Philosophy products. I could have sworn OPI came out with a new Matte polish for their new gloss line but I have yet to find that or any matte top coats at this location. This is for the salon services only! I was in line at the store and this girl behind me just had an amazing blowout done! I did not even know Ulta had salon services but seeing these results I was definitely going to try it out. I have super curly and I believe they call it, "unmanageable hair!" This stylist had me looking unbelievable in a matter of 40 minutes. If you can schedule Jasmine consider yourself lucky! She is personable, great at her job, and most importantly gives you exactly what YOU want! I received various compliments after leaving this salon. One woman at Old Navy raved and mentioned Inever get my hair to look like that. I told her me either that's why I got it done next door! I only went to this location because the nail dip powders I wanted was only available at this location. The last time I was here, I had a hard time getting assistance looking for items because there appeared to be no advisors on "the floor". On this visit (May 4th), I wanted to use a coupon I received in the mail. It expired on this day, so it was urgent that I used it promptly. As soon as I got in the store, I knew I was going to be treated unfairly. The gentleman advisor (which I later found out was a manager) at the front door LITERALLY walked off when I went in. I wasn't greeted; however, the customer that came in after WAS greeted. I looked around at signs to find the nail section and passed a few more advisors that NEVER asked to assist me. Just looks. I was in casual clothing so maybe that is why I treated in such a matter; although that's a disgusting excuse to not assist me. I felt very uncomfortable. I finally made it to the nail section and was looking for specific powder colors. A couple advisors walked by, again, no assistance. When I finally found two colors I was satisfied with, I went to the counter to make my purchase. The young lady took my phone number, to look up my membership then started ringing up the merchandise. Once she told me the total, I handed her the coupon and she tried to scan it. It seemed as though she was having a hard time scanning so she asked the advisor beside her if she could just input the code on the card. She started writing numbers down on a piece of paper, looking the card over; as if it were fake or something. Mind you, this is one of the cards you get in the mail, that obviously can't be duplicated. She then calls for "authorization" over her personal microphone and the gentleman from earlier comes over. They both were looking the card over. Then putting information into their register. I felt more uncomfortable and now embarrassed! It took 5-10 minutes for this process to complete. Very disappointed in the manager and employees at this store! DON NOT RECOMMEND IT. My daughter and her grandmother were there and spent $400 at Ulta in Crofton Gambrills. She bought the same eyebrow pencil she does every few months, If you know my daughter she rarely wears makeup. She went back up there after going all the the way home to realize this eye brow pencil wasn't in her bag. The cashier who helped her out story changed 2 times and the manager did not show the entire footage of everything being put into the bag. This is suspect. This is not the first time I heard of the associates stealing stuff. The manager wouldn't even talk to the my mother to explain what happened. Not returning back ever. Plus, they have sales, a clearance section, beauty events, and points that add up to coupons! The staff at this location are super attentive and nice. I deducted 1 star because every time I've gone I've had to wait a long period of time to be rung up (if you have a huge line you need more then one cashier, not 5-7m later but as soon as it starts to form BTW). I deducted another star because I think they close ridiculously early on Sundays. Waugh Chapel is booming around 6 even on Sundays due to the dinner rush. They could easily stay open till 7, or 7:30. I try to give this store my business but it's pretty difficult to do so when Sephora in comparison is open till 7, which is where I'll be going in the future bc they have guaranteed longer hours. read more

This is a cool and spacious location. The staff is friendly and very attentive. They offer cosmetics, nail polishes, perfumes, hair products and more. You can have your hair done, get a manicure, get waxed and a facial all on site. It seems to be a bit pricey, but for those who enjoy purchasing beauty products from somewhere like Sephora, this is the place for you. I actually prefer to purchase my perfumes/cosmetics from the department store (more bang for my buck) and my hair products from a beauty supply, but this is a nice trendy change. read more

Styling appliances and other accessories are here too such as CHI, Babylis and other brands. Customer service is hit or miss at times but the effort is there. There was a girl who used to work at this location who was so awesome, super friendly and helpful but she wasn't there yesterday when I went in. I was browsing when someone came up next to me to grab something from the shelf I was looking at, I thought it was just a rude customer but nope it was an employee. When I noticed I asked her about some foundations I was looking for that they didn't have, her response was if it's not the shelf then we don't have it. She matched up my daughter's skin perfectly with foundation and she gave me a lesson in makeup application. In addition, she provided healthy tips on matching makeup to include the proper shade and undertone. She was extremely pleasant, patient, and SOOO nice! I remember when this place first opened. They had a grand opening special. I went there and finally found this place after being lost on the road for a good hour. I was hoping that I could get my complimentary facial, but the facialist quit, so I could not get it done. I then asked for my complimentary hair treatment, but there was no one there because they were short staffed and some of the hair people quit already. I do not know why many of the staff would quit after only being open for a few days. I met the manager and she said she would try and get me into another Ulta, but no Ulta had time to do any services. Then the manager said she would write me a rain-check so I could get my services at a later date. This was over a year ago and I never got contacted about the services, so one can understand that this is a terribly run Ulta. It is very disorganized. Just went into this Ulta yesterday for the first time, and not one worker greeted me or asked if I needed help, even though there were many of them walking by me throughout the store. I'm a semi regular customer here. I get my hair done every 12 weeks or so. I was having lunch in the area so I stopped in to make an appointment and couldn't get waited on! I stood in the back at the salon for 7 minutes and wasn't even acknowledged! I kept moving so the woman working could see me and she'd see me and move out of my line of sight! 100% unacceptable. So I decide to go to the front and see if someone up there could make my appointment. There wasn't even anyone there! The were no sales associates in the front half of the store at all. I stood there waiting at the desk for 10 minutes waiting for someone to check me in, and when i asked someone else in the store for help, I was a clear inconvenience. I showed my hair stylist clear pictures of EVERY side of the head of what I wanted and she continued to ask "so....what do you want?" She didn't cut anything near close to the photos I showed her. Walked in and I was immediately greeted, even though the associate was ringing someone up, big plus. This Ulta is pretty big, much bigger then the locales in my hometown, which was awesome for me.
