I needed a haircut desperately before my job interview.I called hoping they could take me in .. They were booked(b/c they are fabulous)but Nikki was not only able to squeeze me in ,she didn't make me feel rushed, That is professional.. This was my first time and I am highly impressed.. What she did in30 minutes was amazing . Sue the owner was also so warm and kind. It was obvious they had known each other for so long and that they love what they do. The most amazing service I have ever had with results that exceed any possible expectation that I could ever fathom. I decided that I wanted to do something bold, and for me that meant going more blonde with peek-a-boo red highlights. I am in the military so this would be perfect so long as it was done right. I also decided that I wanted to do the Keratin treatment. My hair is pretty long and thick. I called around a few places, and eventually decided on this one for a few reasons. First, when I called, the gentleman who answered the phone was more than willing to assist me and answer all of my questions, which were a lot. Second, he got me an appointment within the hour. And last, the place had really high ratings and lots of pictures for the Keratin treatment, which other salons lacked. I arrived at 1130 and was greeted by the gentleman I has spoken to on the phone. He was equally as nice in person and his color was bold, to me individuals who work in a hair salon should showcase their skills with their own hair. I was introduced to my stylist, her hair was the red I was looking for with my peek-a-boo highlights. PERFECT! I explained what I was looking for, and the two (the gentleman and the women... I am really bad with names :( ) discussed what I was looking for. They made sure they clearly knew what I wanted before proceeding. This was great because I have been in places before where no matter what you say- the stylist still somehow does not do what you asked. I showed pictures, and discussed the specifics of my desired outcome. Over 6 hours later (long.. thick hair) I was finally able to see the results, and I feel in love with my hair immediately. I have never loved the way my hair has turned out it the past, but usually just stick with it. The stylist listened and delivered! My hair looks healthy, still long, perfect highlights and the peek-a-boo highlights are perfect! During the entire time my hair was being done, both the stylist and the gentleman ensured I was comfortable. They showed be before and afters of other clients and we talked about how to maintain color or treated hair! It was great. The gentleman even offered to grab me some Wendys when he went to get some food! Being that I know my hair, I knew that I would be at the salon FOREVER! I brought along a book for a certification I was planning on earning. The stylist noticed that I was having to hold the book up and had the gentleman bring me a booster (used when they cut children hair) to alleviate me having to hold the book the entire time! Another unique thing, I hate when I get my hair colored and the cold gets on/in my ears! This place has ear covers! There is absolutely no color on my ear! I came to Maxx Hair Studio to get a Japanese Straight Perm. It had been almost 2 years since my last JSP, and my hair was mostly grown out. My stylist, Nikki was able to restore it to its former glory and make it perfect again! The price was extremely reasonable for JSP, especially compared to other shops in the area. Never the less, they delivered exceptional quality and service. This is one of the best places I've ever gone for the process. I was especially impressed when, after the first process, Nikki noticed some stubborn hairs were still curly. Rather than cutting corners, she redid the entire process until it was perfectly smooth and straight. I really appreciate that! (I have had lazy stylists before who try to hide imperfections rather than address them!) I felt like I really got my money's worth here, and it was one of the best jobs anyone has ever done on my hair. I will absolutely be back for a touch up when my perm starts to grow out again! And the price was so reasonable, there's no need for me to stretch it out so long anymore! read more

I just washed my hair after waiting several days (more than just the 3 required) and did notice some of my hair has broken off. Apparently this can happen with the treatment especially since the flat iron is so hot. My hair looks bad. Please keep this in mind if you're getting a keratin. My hair is still mostly smooth but I do have some broken pieces which doesn't make my hair as good as over $200 costs. I would not get the Brazilian keratin again. Please do your research on the keratin before you get it. Not sure why my hair didn't break off the first time. Different stylist this time? I was told it was the exact same formula. Went in again for my 2nd keratin treatment at Maxx. This time I had Nicky and it was my first time with Nicky. IT took 4 hours. My hair looked wonderful walking out. I did price check with other locations and Maxx Hair Studio was the most reasonable for the service but it is a risky treatment no matter where you go. Your eyes will burn and it may be hard to breathe. I washed my hair for the first time since having it and my eyes are irritated from the chemicals. Also, please do not get a keratin treatment at Temple school in Annapolis. The keratin did nothing for my hair. I wasted over $85. read more

Tried it with a Groupon, but I would definitely go back even without one! Very happy with the stylist. I have really long hair, and tend to get lazy with trimming it. I have been to other Asian ladies and they judge me for how often they cut my hair, which sucks. I called the salon not even a week ahead and tried to have an appointment before a conference, they squeeze me in so I have descent hair to be presentable. the service was good, and they are honest about their pricing (I went to a Hair Cuttery and this lady tried to charge me Wash money because of my long hair). My hair had a really bad highlight done at another salon, and Suna fixed it PERFECTLY. I seriously loved the job she did. My hair is finally the blonde I wanted and I've gotten so many compliments. Michelle did an excellent job cutting my curly frizzy hair. I have been to several local salons but I found today that Korean hairstylist is the best. She treated my hair with respect and somehow managed to do pixie haircut and covered my thinning hair spot. She really took her time cutting my hair and made sure all the hair fell into the right place. Mind you, I have lots of hair. I would come back again. Joon answered and I explained that I have had issues with under processed hair the past few times I had gotten my hair done and that I needed someone that is experienced with blonde highlights. I love this salon! With being mixed, black and Asian, it's really hard to find someone I trust to do my hair. I try to stick with Koreans doing my hair, since I still have a softer texture then most multiracial/biracial women. For the past 10 years I've done the Japanese hair straightening, I've done it here with Young which you can see the pics on here. I decided I needed something new and made an appointment with Nikki. I love my hair results. She and Joon were amazing in making sure they captured what I wanted. I have very resistant hair but she still managed to get my hair colored and the keratin treatment came out perfect,just washed my hair today. I just went there today. And no they DON'T ACCEPT WALK-IN. Though they only have 3 customers the lady at the reception just said they can't help me. I was supposed to get haircut, style and hair color but she said they couldn't do it. So i just asked if haircut is possible and i even said i could wait, and shes not even sure. Amazing shampoo, cut, and style. Michelle was great from beginning to end. Starting with the shampoo, it was super relaxing and the head massage was bomb. I was getting a simple cut with long layers in the back and angles in the front. Michelle did a great job cutting my hair, making sure that I was okay with the amount that she was taking off. She was very meticulous, making sure my hair was cut evenly. I told her that at home, I usually wash and go. She then styled my hair using twists and minimal heat, giving it a lot of body and waves. I have thick, curly, fizzy Asian hair. I can make it silky straight using Japanese straightening treatment but haven't had any luck of finding a place in Baltimore area. I might be biased but I was looking for Korean hair stylists because they just more experience with Asian hair. I called to make an appointment and the manager gave a good consultation to make sure if my hair is fit for straightening and was able to schedule an appointment next day. The appointment day - warning - when I parked by a strip mall where the shop is located next to a liquor store and nail salon, I was not sure. I am glad I gave a try!! A team of nice Korean stylists greeted me and my hair stylist definitely knew what she was doing. I have gotten my hair straightened in NY, LA, Seoul and she was comparable to any of their stylists. A hidden gem in Glen Burnie if you want to try Japanese straightening/Keratin treatment for more reasonable price. Everyone in the shop are fluent in both Korean and English. read more
