-1000/5 stars. TLDR: I booked my appointment over the phone and stupidly gave them my card (which they require). I had to cancel last minute due to work, the salon took all the money they could get out of me and threw THEIR OWN policy out the window. Warning- they call it a "fee", it's not just a "fee". Also I guess this place can just charge you whatever once they have your card information. I'm sorry but if I'm unable to make my appointment under no circumstance do I feel like it's fair to pay 100% of the service- nor did anyone declare what they meant by "a fee" over the phone or in the auto-text that came. I called Chesapeake Salon on the day of my hair appointment, I can't help when something last minute comes up at my job- and I realize and fully accept that I was going to pay a fee for messing up the schedule/wasting a salon expert's time. I will happily pay a fee, but 100% of it? They used zero (0) product on me- spent no time on me- and I'm expected to pay $200 for nothing! + { It goes against their website's own policy.} I would have totally been okay with paying half- maaaybe a little more. But I'm absolutely angry about this "fee". This is not fair and I was under the impression that I would not be paying full price. Heck, when I called- they had to ask "what were you getting done?" Completely unprofessional to not know what a client wants and to arbitrarily assign a price. A price that was never agreed upon might I add. ** Also also, nowhere was it overtly stated that I'd have to pay 100% of the service otherwise I'd have told my office that "no- I can't stay behind and help out today". If you go looking for the policy on their website you'll finally see what they mean by "fees" and it's sneaky how they fail to mention it + they fraudulently charged me- and that even by THEIR OWN policy! But more on that in a second... Over the phone while making the appointment they use vague language like "you'll have to pay a fee" like, I personally expect a fee to resemble 70-100 bucks. I should have noticed the red flags. They didn't tell me once that I'd be paying for a full service and not just a "fee" upon cancellation and these things shouldn't be used synonymously it's just misleading. A service they profit 100% from with 0 loss of product, 0 effort of their own. And yeah- argue all you want that I'm a time slot wasted. That I know and I agree. But a fee was what I was willing to pay, a full service slap in the face- no. Update 1: So yeah, I checked my bank account and that $200 is pending for a service I absolutely did not receive. Does this mean I'm owed product? Update 2: Still mad about this, went to the internet to look for their policy on their "fees". Their own website policy says I should have only been charged 50% because I called with less than 24 hour notice- their own words. They charged me 100% as if I were a no-call/no-show per their website. Weird- cause that's not at all what happened- because I certainly called and talked to someone within the 24 hours who TOLD ME I'd be paying them full service- before the time of my appointment. It didn't say "within 24 hours but no less than 3 hours before the appointment" for the 50%. Sketch-city. Do business here if you like the idea of a place treating others like trash. Update 3: The shady nature of this business knows no bounds. I saw another negative review here saying they have "wiped clean" other reviews they didn't like from Google. (That is where this original post lives) And so to protect my post I've saved it, their policy (with a time stamp) and I'm documenting the shenanigans with great interest. NEVER give a business your debit card especially over the phone and BEFORE you've even received service. I've learned my lesson and I hope this helps anyone especially during this time where money is tight and getting charged this absurd amount literally changes things completely. There's so many salons in this area (and these other places do not require card info up front) we do not need this abuse. read more

Krista my stylist was 20 minutes late, had to wait multiple times through out my experience too (this is not like a wait for them to grab color, product developing on hair or having another client) I have no idea what they were doing. I wanted a balayage and shag cut. Received regular highlights and a choppy hair cut that wasn't shag at all. After the highlighting process my hairdresser acted like I was good to go and I said "oh but I booked a color and cut". Showed her pictures of a couple shag hair cuts and described what I wanted and she uncomfortably said ok. She comb all my hair to the back cut straight across and took scissors with teeth and chomped through my hair starting at the top down. That was it, it was over as soon as it started and the she left me with her assistant to dry my hair. My hair was longer in the front (I assume from all being combed back and chopped straight across) and some how had no layers still. Come to find out those were thinning sheers she used all throughout my hair. Very disappointed. Tried to leave a review on google and noticed a couple other reviewers with similar complaints. A week later mine and all the others were poof! gone. Super shady and untrustworthy move. read more

Love this salon! Everyone here is so friendly! I see Carly and she does an amazing job with my hair. I have curly long hair and have never found anyone who has been able to cut my hair and make it look great or even nice and she makes it look wonderful! I'm always so happy with my haircut after I leave. They offer a lot of other great services too, such as pedicures and manicures, massages, facials, waxing, and more. The salon is always neat and clean and never has that salon smell. Definitely a great place to go! read more

Beautiful salon in Pasadena! I came in on a Thursday afternoon for my haircut appointment. Leeann did an amazing job with my hair. I had damaged ends so I needed a trim and I wanted some layers. The prices are reasonable. It's what I would of paid at hair cuttery but support local businesses instead. My haircut included shampoo, conditioner, the cut, and blow dry. I will definitely be coming back, already booked my next do!! (I also saw that they also do manicures and pedicures, who knew?!) read more

While the stylists were nice, I did not get what I was aiming for. I wanted to do a pastel pink with dark roots and wanted to do a bleaching process so i didn't damage my hair. I did not want to put any color in until it was a platinum blond but they didn't even bleach my whole head and I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt so I went one more time and all she did was put an extremely dark pink in my hair. Luckily it's lightened so I can fix it myself, but it's really not worth it. I definitely think they pull things like this so you HAVE to come back. While overall the salon is decent, I never received the results I was looking for. During all my visits (3) I was left alone for at least 30 minutes in the middle, because they had scheduled someone else so close to me. I would sit there just waiting for them to do a complete haircut on someone else... So weird! It is too expensive of a salon for what you are getting, and they once had a young girl attempt to blow dry my hair after my stylist left me (they had scheduled someone so close. She had no idea what she was doing, and thirty minutes later I just finally told her it was okay, I would leave with wet hair. The girls are SO sweet, the place is clean, but everyone that works there is very young and doesn't have too much experience. Cute place, though! read more

While dealing with a work emergency I was 6 minutes past my appointment window- when entering I was advised I was charged my fill spot of 95.00 and my window had already been filled within 6 minutes. What appears to have happened was that someone chose not to want to work but get paid on a Friday. I would caution against anyone coming here- I was also threatened when rescheduling an appointment within 24 hours previously of a charge- I should have been cautioned then as it was made out to be a "favor l that I was not actually charged- despite calling well in advance. I am certainly understanding of everyone's time constraints it just strikes me as a revenue stream that has been started and is being used as such as opposed to actually servicing the client or work with them. I would not recommend this firm- it is apparent that they were not truthful in filling my slot during that 6 minutes and the stylist was doing nothing.- I understand that the business has responded, however, to be clear since I had my time open for an appointment today I continued to work remotely in the parking lot for over an hour- during that time the original stylist took no other clients. We can all understand what the cancellation policy is intended for- however, how it was implemented was something completely different. Again, to be clear, I was inside of the salon within 6 minutes of my window timeframe-not a phone call on the phone to determine if it was available. It is clear that the policy was not implemented properly today- and that your intention was to retain funds and not service a client. read more

I am leaving a review through my husband's account because I don't have one. I have always been nervous to have anything done with my hair because, I feel like I can't even get a trim without the stylist messing it up. Heather was recommended to me by a friend that had also had her hair done by Heather. It looked so good that I decided to contact the stylist and see if she was available to do my hair. When I got there I was so nervous, but Heather has such a fun, relatable personality that I began to relax. Once my hair was finished I was speechless. I never thought it/I could look so good. At first, I was impressed with how they fit me in for my appointment. I called, and I told them what I needed and they said they set me up with the right person. I went in and met with Alexis, she was great at first and asked me what I wanted. I told her I needed my hair thinned and I wanted bangs, and two inches off. She cut 5 inches off, and didn't thin my hair out like she said, and now I can do nothing with my hair. It is super super short and at first it was okay when she styled it of course. Had a great first experience with Megan. Went to book another appointment today and was told that all appointments needed to be held with a cc. I asked about their computer security for holding full cc numbers in their system and was told that the number wasn't visible to the staff. Pffff definitely doesn't make their system secure in 2019. Absolutely terrible business practice that a few no-shows means a security risk for all others. Final words of the receptionist- "Well if you wont give me your cc, I can't make you an appointment." I have been going to this Salon since it opened. Though I had a stylist who left I Immediately found another stylist that I has been my "girl" for 6 years now!! Though I only let Tabitha do my hair because she is a wonderful colorist and cuts my hair exactly the way I like it! It's a very friendly salon that offers women's, men's and kids cuts. They have manicures and pedicures and have since added an anesthetist doing full facials. The pricing is reasonable and though it's a busy salon everyone there is very nice. Been looking for a hairstylist since I'm new to the area. I went to this salon expecting great results from the good reviews and the awesome coloring showed here and on their website. I called in for an appointment and was scheduled with a stylist. When I got there, the stylist I was scheduled with called off so I got a haircut by the owner's daughter and she did horrible job. I asked for a v-shape and lots of long layers but gave me a u-shape and a horrible job on layers. After she has cut my hair she asked me if the haircut was ok or if I wanted to put more layers or angle the shape more. I asked her to do so since I didn't get what I wanted. She spent a lot of time putting layers on the right side of my head that the left side was completely had little layers. I didn't want to micromanage how to cut my hair so I just agreed that it was good and left. Giving this place only 3 stars, despite of the owner's daughter cut my hair badly, she only did have 2 years experience and the staff seems friendly. read more

Being a guy, I usually go to Sports Clips in Severna Park. However, since my go-to stylist left, I thought I would try something closer to home. I found this place on Yelp, walked in, and was able to get an appointment right away, which may be rare. There were lots of hairstylists working here. The salon seemed a little cluttered, probably due to the way the stations were laid out. My stylist, who has been there for 6 years, was very friendly. She took her time, was gentle, and explained everything as she went. She suggested a textured cut and an eyebrow trim, all things I would never have thought to ask, (remember, I am a guy.) My biggest pet peeve about haircuts, is that I hate having cut hair inside my collar and on my neck, making me feel like I need to shower right away. In my quest to find a great local salon I wandered past a few that charged an arm and a leg for hair that's beyond your shoulders in length, But Chesapeake had amazing price points and great reviews. I had the pleasure of having Megan do my hair and let me tell you.....she's WONDERFUL! I was hesitant to cut my long hair but she was supportive and does amazing work! I can't stand paying upwards of $60 to get my hair trimmed so I was looking for somewhere under $40 and found it in this salon! $33 to cut, layer and blow-dry my long hair is an amazing deal and my stylist, Megan, did a great job! I was thrilled when I discovered Chesapeake Salons. The prices are reasonable, but the quality is outstanding. Kat gave my daughter the best hair cut she's ever had. Not only does she look super cute but it's also functional for her lifestyle. Kat is simply wonderful, she has been cutting my hair for years. I ended up coming to Chesapeake to get my hair corrected after the first salon decided to give me brassy platinum highlights. RIDICULOUS! Heather saved the day and fixed my hair!
