I came in with waist-length hair and asked to have 4-6 inches removed. During the consultation, I was told the final length would still be past my shoulders, but I left with shoulder-length hair in a blunt cut, which was much shorter than discussed. The entire wash and cut appointment lasted about 20 minutes and there was very little consultation about how I wear my hair or what shape I wanted the cut to have. With thick hair, a blunt shoulder cut leaves the hair very heavy and difficult to manage. I did try to address my concerns after the appointment and Diane later offered a refund, which I appreciate, but the experience itself was still very disappointing given how much length was removed compared to what we discussed. read more

Went to get my hair colored. It was a disaster. I have never seen such unprofessionalism nor incompetence. Hair was over processed and it was my fault..I had to cut it! ...oh it will grow back. I paid to get my hair colored you bleach it twice and then say I'm to blame and I paid??? Beware do not go here.... Had a wonderful experience at this salon. I made an appointment on Tuesday and the receptionist, who was very nice and friendly, suggested Michelle for 10 the next day. I took that. From the minute I walked in it felt very comfy. Receptionist knew who I was and who I was there to see... after a very short wait, about 5 minutes max, I was off to the shampoo station where Shirley did a great head message during my shampoo. She offered nice small talk. Feeling still very comfy. Michelle came in and immediately began looking at my hair and i could see she had an idea... I just let her tell me what she wanted do. She worked very hard and methodically hit every strand of hair with perfection. Well... I'm thrilled with my cut. Can't tell you the last time I've been this happy with the entire experience. I'm usually a long haired gal and always hate to get my hair cut. This summer, I wanted a little change so I last minute scheduled an appointment because i would be in the area. I booked with Michelle. The shampoo ladies were so cute and I enjoyed the atmosphere so much. Michelle took the time to make sure I was comfortable with everything throughout the cut. I know it's funny... but the name says it all. I've lived in the Metro Washington area for 20+ yrs and have spent countless dollars and hours seeking out the "right salon". Who would have guessed it's in Bowie?! I stumbled upon this shop and Diane has been doing my hair for over 2 years now. I look back at my "pre-Diane" photo's and cringe at my hair (at the time I thought it was good - but now I know better!) When I first moved to the area, my colleagues sent me to an overly expensive salon in Rockville where the stylist turned my auburn hair a mousy brown and sent me home with damp hair. What a joy to find Wow U right here in Bowie, with reasonable prices and a great staff. Gaby is now my go-to stylist as she fixed the color and cut and did great highlights. After my first visit to Wow U, I had to give a workshop the next day to clients--and the first thing the organizer said upon meeting me was "Wow! Your hair looks GREAT!" I've continued to go to Gaby and am always 100% delighted with the results (plus she is very personable and upbeat). The rest of the staff is equally friendly and sure to point out the coffee (which last time were accompanied by catering-grade brownies brought in by another happy client). I had a good experience there the first time I went, so I called to get an appointment on a Saturday for my daughter. The woman said to come on over, she could take her right away. I got there and she was taking care of a client. She was the only stylist there. As we waited, another client came in, was seated in a chair, and she took care of her. After 30 minutes and asking twice when she would get to us, we left. What a huge waste of my time. If you are booked, let me know, but do not waste 45 minutes of my time by saying you can cut my daughter's hair, when you know you are booked. I will never go there again. read more

I love Wow U Salon. I had a last minute up-do request for a military function and they took me in and did a spectacular job! I received complements the whole night. It was great going to a place that is not intimidated by long hair. Also, they offered my son hot cocoa and cookies while he waiting on me. I have also been there for hair cuts and they always do a fabulous job. My kids also get their hair cut at Wow U Salon and they are always treated so well. I kept reading amazing reviews so i called and set up an appointment. Asked them if they had anyone that works with really long hair because my hair is to my butt. They said no problem they do. The lady who washes my hair is amazing, best I've ever experienced, Irene i think is her name. I thought I have found my salon cause it was so amazing. But the lady who cut my hair had no idea what to do with long hair. She couldn't even brush it out. After awhile of having my hair yanked on I told her it would help if she started at the bottom to get all the knots out, another stylist gave her aa brush since she was using a comb. Eventually I offered to brush my own hair because she just couldn't. I've never had to brush my own hair at a salon. She was so nice and sweet but just didn't know what she was doing. I just wanted a trim, she didn't do a very good job. When i came home my husband said it looked like a bad cut. You know when your husband can tell its a bad cut something is really wrong. I asked her to blow dry it, she struggled blow drying my long hair. Kept getting it tangled, it was clear she did not know how to work with long hair. She was such a nice lady but it was a terrible blow dry job. Her blowdry was just flat. I could have given it more body, style and movement if I had blow dried it myself. They were so nice but I can't go back if they can't even be honest about being able to work with long hair. I wonder if i can go to just get my hair washed by Irene.
