Hard to decipher pricing and not treated well on the whole. I had to talk myself into writing this review, and maybe my experience was an isolated incident, but it left a bad taste in my mouth that I can't quite get past. I signed up online for a service (60) that I thought was a blowout. The owner called me prior to the appointment, and I explained I was natural and wanted to wear my hair straight, as it had been some time since I'd done so. That would have been the perfect time to inform me that I had signed up for the wrong service, but I was not told that. When I arrived I was told the service I wanted was 120. I knew I didn't see that when I signed up online, so I asked for a few minutes to review the online services. I was told that I signed up for just a blow dry. The owner then asks in a firm voice If I was staying or not--I get the need to be professional about your business, but this was a little off putting. I should have left at that point, but I had been looking forward to having this self-care time, so I decided to stay. I go ahead and get a blow dry and style (70) and the steam (20) because I know I need that. Then the owner blow dries my hair and states I'm in desperate need of a cut--which is probably true, but I say, "Maybe next time." She finishes drying my hair and walks away. She comes back and asks if I decided about the cut. I'm thinking, I already declined. Then she says, "That's why I walked away so you could be making up your mind." Ok, by this time, I'm super uncomfortable. I was already dealing with a lot personally and was just in disbelief at this point. In hindsight, I should have firmly declined again. So, now I tell her to go ahead and do the trim/cut. I knew I could use it--again, I walked in thinking the service I signed up for was 60 and just wasn't mentally prepared to pay 120 that day. She starts cutting and says "all in" to the person who did my shampoo. This to me sounded like she was smugly rubbing in the fact that I ended up (being coerced) into getting the full service anyway. I admit, I could be wrong on that. Yes, I'm grown and can make my own decisions, but I also deal with anxiety and that just wasn't a great situation for me. Two weeks later I went to another stylist (whom I still go to) who mentioned I needed a trim. I was like that can't be because I just had a cut. She proceeded to show me places throughout that were rough and uneven. I actually liked the cut, so I'm not really going in about that. I was just put off by the experience as a whole. read more
