I asked for a Keratin Treatment and a trim as a walk in during the afternoon. At first the owner refused to do the treatment (she was probably tired and I was the last client of the day. Understandable.) I was going to settle for a trim and blow out. I explained the state of my hair and how important retaining length was to me. She said she would do what I asked for... I think I was given a relaxer and silk press without being told. (My scalp was burning after 15 mins of chemicals and I was done in about 1 hour.) keratin takes longer usually. When the chemical treatment started to burn my scalp I asked to be rinsed and was told to wait longer, while she tended to other clients. I now have chemical burns, root thinning and scabbing on my scalp. I don't let my scalp become wounded when I do my own hair because I prefer length and health over a thin texture, and I expect a professional to understand and do better than I can. The flat iron process was also painful. I could hear the iron ripping my hair (she used at least 6-7 passes on very small sections with free hand (this technique burns the stylists hands and unevenly heats the hair, a fine tooth comb is best with a flat iron). My scalp and neck was burned in the process of flat ironing several times. The end result was very thin, shiny, short hair with root and shaft breakage in visible areas. The style was very flat and unflattering on me. Prices were not posted anywhere in the salon, but the people before paid about 70$ for roller sets. And online gave it two ($$) so it should have been affordable. I was then told the price was $350. I have no intention of referring anyone to this place. I should have just asked for a roller set.

Updated: 1.30: I believe in shop owners being given the opportunity to respond and normally wouldn't volley with them, but want to ensure clarity in the owner's use of the term bullying. As an equity champion, I will be the first to speak out against any type of bullying. The use of this term is inaccurate and deflects from the poor professionalism of the business which I only stated in the last interaction. Every other interaction was pleasant, with staff offering comments on my positivity and "nice speaking voice". If I had time, I could easily pull phone records that show monthly conversations with staff that probably would have been shorter had I been the bully you claim. That also would be the time to have the fruitful convos, not after a review exposing you is posted. Two other points of massive error: (1) I never had a stylist, so to refer to one in the response means you were too busy trying to refute a one star review than checking your facts and (2) your blatant misspelling of my name then odd shortening at the end should tell any potential client about your clear inattention to detail. If your version of respect can only be shown through five star reviews, I would encourage you to provide five star communication and service. Hope this is helpful!

I think she even used some shampoo after my deep conditioner. 2. I brought in a luxury brand of shampoo and she used HALF the bottle even when my hair became over saturated with product. (Less is almost always more with hydrating shampoos) 3. She kept referring to my hair as short and it's not...I thought that was weird, inaccurate, and off putting. 4. They often will use a flat iron (or try to use it) even if you request the opposite. 5. The price varies even if you always do the same service. Sadly, I just can't win with salons in the dmv. It just seems like dealing with hair envy and stylists who do what they want and not what you ask is the norm out here. True bummer here because most salons (esp luxury salons) no longer do roller sets. I will say my hair is so tangles after roller setting here. I wonder if it's because they've (not so secretly) used shampoo to wash out my hydrating conditioner. Also, when I wrapped my hair and took it out...it didn't even look like I had my hair done! Do not recommend!

Disappointing and Concerning Experience…read more I had a 9:00 a.m. appointment at Your Space Hair Salon yesterday on a Saturday. When I arrived, there were two very kind and welcoming women there, but I was the only client in the salon. I found this somewhat unusual for a Saturday morning. What concerned me most was that the hairstylist/owner I expected to do my hair was not there and never arrived during my appointment. Instead, one of the women present applied my hair color. I went in specifically to have my grays covered and expected an even, professional color result. Unfortunately, after the color was processed and rinsed, I was very disappointed with the outcome. My roots were noticeably lighter than the rest of my hair, leaving my hair color uneven and not what I expected from a professional salon service. I was also concerned because I did not notice any professional cosmetology licenses displayed in the salon. I cannot speak to whether the individuals working there are licensed, but as a customer, I would have appreciated knowing who would be performing my service and their professional qualifications--especially since the stylist I expected was not present. The two women who were there were extremely kind, and I want to make that clear. My concern is with the overall experience, the lack of communication about who would be doing my hair, and the quality of the final result. Based on my experience, I would recommend that potential clients ask in advance who will actually be performing their service and confirm their credentials, particularly for chemical services such as hair coloring. Unfortunately, I left disappointed and uncomfortable with the experience and would not return for another color service. If you go there, please make certain that you very credentials beforehand .

I was desperately in need of a last minute blowout before my trip and my hair salon was closed…read more Surprisingly I found this hair salon on google and made a same day appointment hours in advance. I arrived at night and it could be tricky to find as it is nestled in an apartment complex like building in the park. Although there is ample parking space, it is scary at night as it is dark and there are barely any streets lights. I got in and was warmly welcomed by the owner. The inside serves clean home vibes and on the top floor. I was the only one there so she immediately got started on my hair and asked if I wanted a special treatment. The wash was really nice and so was the steam treatment as I hadn't had a steam treatment like that in years. She offered me a trim which I accepted. At times the heat was a bit too much but it wasn't overly uncomfortable. Midway I asked her how much the service would be not expecting it to be over $120 based on the reviews. I didn't see any pricing transparency when I checked so that was on me to assume. She told me with the discount I owed about $170 US DOLLARS...for a blowout, I was stunned! I've done my hair at luxury salons by celebrity stylists in the past and that's around the price I paid. I just couldn't justify this price for a regular wash and blow, and steam treatment. I was also served a bag of Doritos and a bottle of water which maybe was woven into the price. Personally, the service was good but I just don't think the price matches the service especially for the fact that it was discounted even with the trim. I don't know, I would've loved to come back but the price just doesn't make sense for me when I pay $65-$85 for basically the same service and outcome, especially when my hair frizzed up the next day.
