This was my first time getting my hair professionally done at a salon and I couldn't be more than happier with the results of my dark brown balyage. I recently moved to the DMV from NY for school and decided to go with her salon because I wanted to support a small business and the other reviews were great! Booking the appointment was seamless. Annum was able to accommodate an earlier appointment time for me since I had a scheduled meeting later that afternoon. I visited her almost a month ago on April 6th, 2021 so here is my comprehensive review. My balayage took a little under 1.5 hours to complete. She was very efficient while also ensuring that my hair retained its natural moisture and health. She made sure that she respected my time due to my meeting later that evening. When I returned home, I did notice that the toner didn't take on a small but noticeable section of my hair that was noticeably blonde. I immediately texted Annum to let her know and she squeezed me in the same day to reapply the toner for the area, which was a very quick fix. Not every hair stylist would show this level of dedication to ensure that I had the best experience. After a month, the color has held up beautifully and I've received endless compliments on her work. In terms of parking, there are public parking garages on the same street that are affordable and accessible (~$1.25/hr). Highly recommend booking her, she's very professional, honest, and genuinely takes care of her clients! Support your small businesses and book her!! read more

Annum is THE person to go for all your hair related needs. I promise you, you won't go anywhere else after seeing her. Long story short, I came to Annum after nearly 2 years of not letting anyone touch my hair because of a disaster that left me in tears with shoulder length hair when I was supposed to only get an inch off my super long hair (obvs, this wasn't her who did it). Now I literally only trust Annum to do my hair and recommend her to all my coworkers, friends, and family. Not only is she precise with all her cuts and color, she can also recommend what she thinks will be flattering for you which is especially nice for people who may not come in with inspo pictures. After she brought life back to my sad hair, I trusted her to finally go ahead and give me some color with a balayage. I haven't looked back since then and have only been going lighter with each visit! The best part is that even several months later, my balayage looks fresh and perfect despite my hair growing out. I personally give her creative freedom and trust her with whatever color she thinks is gonna look great on me but you can always bring/show her what you want and she'll recreate it to the best of her abilities! Remember folks, every artist is different and uses different techniques so an exact recreation isn't really possible. She's great at listening to what you want while also protecting your hair from any unnecessary damage and if you aren't happy with it (which I'm sure is rare) she'll fix it! Annum herself is a delight to come in and see. She's always so sweet and sociable - it's always fun to talk to her while she's working her magic on my locks! I appreciate that she has her own private suite in a salon with other artists which does make her hijabi friendly BUT bear in mind that there are men who will walk around as they probably work there too. I have hijabi friends who don't see this as a problem but to each their own. In terms of pricing, I think her rates are very fair especially considering what some other salons (super side-eye to yall) charge for balayages and color services that aren't even close to beauty that she creates. Again, bear in mind that while it isn't cheap - no hair stylist gives you a refund for services already done! Common sense right? Apparently not. Like I said before, if you aren't happy for whatever reason; let her know and she'll fix it. You'll be hard pressed to try and find ANY salon or stylist that'll refund you for any reason. Booking is easy but she does book super fast so make sure you make your appts well in advance! My thick desi hair won't let anyone else touch it so seriously, treat yoself and get your hair blessed by Annum and her magical hands! read more

Words can't express what an amazing job Annum did with my hair. Not only did she color correct but she gave me the most beautiful and ideal caramel balayage I've always wanted but no stylist was able to achieve. Annum is wonderful. I came in with a difficult red color (in other words . . . red) and my previous stylist wouldn't release the formula. Annum did some NASA-level calculus and got my color right. She may be young but she's good. Really good. She also has a great demeanor. It's always a pleasure to see her and chat or just zone out while she works her magic. Just speaking from my experience, but I suspect she reads her other clients well too. Studio is super cute too. And I'm hesitant to post this because I selfishly don't want her to get more popular and raise her rates, but Studio A M is a steal, especially for the area. So, if you don't want to overpay for mediocre service in some stuffy studio, Annum's your girl! read more

Annum is amazing!! I got a cut and blow dry from her. I've been trying to find a good hairstylist since I've been in Maryland for the past few years with no luck, and I'm so glad I stumbled upon Annum's page on Instagram. She is really talented at what she does - I realized I didn't even show her the picture of the cut I wanted and she managed to cut it like that. She's also so bubbly and fun to talk to, making the time go by quickly. My hair feels so healthy and I am definitely coming back to get my hair colored from her soon!! read more

One of the best experiences. Annum replies fairly quickly and gives various days you can come in. She knows what she is doing for sure. I got a beige balayage and it came out perfect. I sent her a couple of pictures of what I wanted and she was able to create what I wanted and adjusted my hair to fit my skin tone. Even though I bleached my hair after the processing it was super soft and zero damage and I also have a Japanese straight perm, so for my hair to get really blonde with no damage she is definitely doing things right. She is super nice and friendly which also made the process go quickly. Expect at least spending 4 hours there for coloring. Price was decent. I recommend her to all my friends and I will be coming back. Annum is my new hairstylist! read more

Annum is amazing! I hadn't done anything to my hair in years and decided it was time for a change. I am SO happy that I found her because she knows her stuff. My hair looks amazing and I love love love it. Annum made the time fly by. I highly recommended her services. read more

I have never left a hair appointment so happy in my life! Before having the amazing chance of going to Studio AM I had gone to many other salons in search of getting a ashy blonde balayage done to my hair which has gone under previous balayage sessions before as well as vivid color dyeing. I was always told that I couldn't get to ashy blonde color balayage usually only being able to achieve a gold blonde color. I came to Annum expecting to leave just a little lighter and more gold blonde than anything as I previously had, however, I was surprisingly wrong. Annum was able to not only to get me to the ashy blonde I was desiring but she made the balayage look flawless and beautiful. Even though it took some effort, Annum was also able to get the majority of the greenish color that I had on my hair previously out so it wouldn't be so present in the final result :) Annum generally is also an amazing stylist and person, she listens to what you want and will try her best to get you to the results that you are looking for while also taking the best steps to protect your hair from damage, she would never let you leave the appointment unhappy with the results. I would definitely recommend anybody looking for a balayage or any other hair process in the DMV area to go ahead and book an appointment :) read more

I don't have a go to person but Annum will now be my go to person! I'm OBSESSED w/ my hair !! read more

I had the BEST experience with Annum. When I came in my hair was completely damaged, I was convinced that I would have to go for a darker shade for my balayage to hide all the damage done to my hair from a previous stylist. I sent her a bunch of pictures so she could have an idea of what I wanted. I was extremely pleased with the amazing job she did. I get complements on my hair ALL the time, the products she used didn't damage my hair and the color has really lasted. I also got my hair cut by her which was a huge deal because I'm use to asking for a trim and getting inches cut off,but Annum really did just cut the trim which I was so grateful for. She's not like other stylist who say they hear what you want and then do the opposite. I recommend her to all my friends and those who have gone to her absolutely love her. I'll definitely be going back! P.S. She's super fast at getting back to you and answering any and all of your questions. Super knowledgeable and down to earth. read more

I recently moved to the East Coast and needed to find someone to do my hair. It was really brassy and yellow from not having it done in a while and thankfully I found Annum. She did such a great job on my hair, I seriously love it. It came out just how I wanted it, it was so quick, and she is really friendly. I'm glad I found a hairstylist here and will absolutely be returning for trims and toning. She's the best! 10/10 would recommend! read more

I'm sooo happy that at 35 I finally found my go to colorist/hair stylist! I did my research before booking an appointment with Annum and I had a good feeling before walking into her studio. I was looking for someone that would be not only extremely skilled but also know exactly what it is that my type of hair would need specifically in terms of color, blending and processing. Her demeanor was so great as well and the time flew by so quickly because of the comfort and her efficient and professional style. I walked out of the studio with beautiful, cool shades of blonde in my dark hair and I'm so looking forward to my next appointment already! read more

This was my very first hair coloring appointment, and i was blown away with Annum's skills. She knows what shes doing, shes super friendly and a great colorist. I went in with really brassy warm hair and left with a beautiful medium ash blonde. Her prices are reasonably and totally worth every penny. I highly recommend you make an appointment with her, she will not let you down. read more

I was so excited to find her IG page and I just had to have an appointment. I contacted her, showed her my hair situation (it was bad) and what I wanted. She explained what she was doing, why she liked certain products better and we had great conversation (and I'm usually a quiet person). The color correction she did left my hair a beautiful ashy blonde color. Excited to go back for touch up! read more

Studio A M - Loved the blow dry and style part, it lasted two days later. - Hair Stylists Near Me - Columbia, Maryland

She is super friendly and fun. Got back to me pretty quickly and was accommodating. Listened to what I had to say, and what I was looking for. She did an okay job, but maybe I'm picky. I got a cut and balayage. I'm not sure, but it felt like she was rushing. The color came out okay. I wasn't wowed or anything. It always looks different at the place, but you really get to see it at home. My biggest eh is how much it cost. I'll clarify; how much it cost for what was done. She charged me $225. My husband didn't even realize I had color put in it. Ridiculous price for someone not in a high end salon, and not using high end products. She did say she used a hair treatment for me because I was a first time client. I should've just not had it done for that amount, but maybe she sensed I was desperate. For that amount I expect to see something amazing. I feel super guilty for paying that much for what I ended up with. Almost embarrassed and disappointed in myself. It's nice, but not $225 nice. She caught me at a weak moment. Lesson learned. *Forgot to add a couple things. I had a glob of toner in my ear that I found when I got home. Also had a quarter sized stain on my temple. In addition, we both agreed I didn't want anything blonde or red (I wanted to stick to browns). The front of my hair is a light brassy color :/ Really noticeable in sunlight, and now I need to figure out how to fix it. Oh, and she didn't put any product in my hair before she blow dried it. She put in a smoothing/frizz oil after she was done. Every place I've been to puts product on your hair before they blow dry. Whether it's for texture, heat protection, smoothing, or whatever. read more

Annum is the kind of a stylist you can truly trust because she is very professional and SO TALENTED!! This business operator blew me off twice, gave weak excuses b/c I'm not getting color for my hair and she is only interested is the high fare for color, which she should specify she only takes on color clients. Do not recommend to anyone. read more

I told Annum what I wanted and she did not fail to deliver. I went in for a cut and a balayage. I didn't think she'd be able to lift my dark black hair in one session, but she was able to! And she toned it twice to ensure there was no brassy tones. She took the time to educate me on the balayage process along with steps i can take to care for it at home. I'm happy I found her and I can't wait for our next appointment to go even brighter! Overall, very satisfied with customer service, the results and the pricing! read more
